To complete the Get Open Pass drill in NBA 2K27, select a teammate with the Left Stick, hold the button shown for your platform to call them open, then release it to pass. If holding the button triggers a handoff or does not work, change Receiver Control to Receiver Get Open in Controller Settings.

- In MyCourt, open Learn 2K.
- Select Advanced Tutorials, then Passing.
- Choose Get Open Pass.

How to perform the pass
- Use the Left Stick to select the teammate you want to receive the ball.
- Hold Circle on PlayStation or B on Xbox to call that teammate to get open.
- Release the button to pass the ball.
NBA2KLab’s NBA 2K27 passing reference and an NBA2KW controls guide also describe the hold-to-call, release-to-pass mechanic. Button descriptions can vary by platform or control configuration, so follow the prompt displayed in your game if it differs.

Fix a hold input that triggers a handoff
The walkthrough’s suggested fix is to change the Off-Ball Receiver Control behavior so the hold input calls for a player to get open instead of routing to a handoff.

- Pause the game and open Options > Controller Settings.
- Scroll to the Off-Ball section.
- Set Receiver Control to Receiver Get Open.
- Return to the drill, select a teammate with the Left Stick, then hold and release the indicated button.
The setting path and explanation come from the NerdsChalk walkthrough, rather than an official NBA 2K27 manual. If your menu labels differ, use the controls and prompts shown in your version. A GosuNoob video published August 28, 2026 is specifically about this drill, though its available description does not document the steps.
Why the button sequence works
The drill tests a two-part action: first direct a selected teammate to cut and get open, then release the hold input to pass. An official NBA 2K25 PS5 English manual describes the general mechanic as holding A to make the selected receiver cut and get open, then releasing A to pass. That manual is for NBA 2K25, so it supports the general concept only—not NBA 2K27’s exact menu path or controls.
