To throw a flashy pass in NBA 2K27, hold R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox and flick the right stick toward a teammate, according to two independent game guides. The pass only counts as a flashy assist if that teammate makes the basket afterward. Guides also report that flashy assists can advance certain Playmaking and MyCAREER objectives, but 2K’s reviewed pages do not confirm the specific requirements.
How to perform a flashy pass
Use the right stick to direct the pass toward one clearly open teammate. The reported button differs by console:

The flashy-pass input is reported by NerdsChalk and AllThingsHow. The follow-up shot input is a guide-recommended way to prompt an AI teammate, not a guarantee that the shot will go in. The guides describe using the right stick to aim, rather than relying on the receiver-selection method used for an ordinary pass.

What makes it a flashy assist?
A flashy pass and a flashy assist are different: the receiver must make the basket after the pass for it to count as an assist. If the teammate misses, the flashy pass may still have been completed, but it did not become a flashy assist under the guides’ explanation.
What flashy assists can count toward
NerdsChalk and AllThingsHow report that flashy assists advance Playmaking goal progress. They also report a specialization goal called “Saucy,” requiring 350 flashy assists, and flashy-assist objectives in the Fire & Concrete MyCAREER story. Treat those names and requirements as guide-reported: the official pages reviewed do not verify those particular objectives or counts. Check the active objective in your own game to confirm what it currently requires.

2K’s official NBA 2K27: Game Mode Breakdown lists new advanced controls among gameplay updates. The 2K release announcement identifies Fire & Concrete as a MyCAREER story. Neither page confirms that a flashy assist independently grants an attribute, badge, Takeover effect, currency, or automatic unlock; rely on the reward description shown in your game rather than assuming a separate bonus.

- Pass to one clearly open teammate and keep the right-stick direction uncomplicated. The guides warn that a crowded lane can send the ball to the wrong receiver.
- Avoid throwing through defenders. NerdsChalk says the flashy animation takes longer than a normal pass, giving defenders more time to intercept; this is guide advice, not an officially documented timing guarantee.
- Make the pass only when the recipient has a reasonable opportunity to score. Prompting an AI teammate to shoot may help turn the pass into an assist, but it cannot guarantee a make.
