To finish the MyCAREER “Calling Quick Plays” drill in NBA 2K27, complete a quick play in each of three possession states: Your Ball, Running Mate’s Ball, and Off the Ball. Press Up on the D-pad to open the quick-play menu, choose a play, then complete the action; change who has possession before moving to the next checklist item.
How to complete the three Running Mate Quick Plays
The checklist tracks the situation in which you call and complete the play, not a particular named play. Check who has the ball before opening the menu so each action counts toward the correct objective.

Off the Ball
Make sure you are not the player with possession. Open the quick-play menu with Up on the D-pad, call a play, and complete it.
Where the drill appears and whether you need co-op
Gameplay guides place “Calling Quick Plays” in the G League portion of MyCAREER. They also report that Trace can be AI-controlled when a co-op friend is not present, so a second human player is not required according to those guides. These details are guide-reported rather than confirmed by official documentation for this specific drill.

If a checklist item does not register
- Verify possession first. Calling the play while you or Trace has the ball may count for a different checklist row than the one you are trying to complete.
- Complete the play. Opening the menu or selecting a play alone is not the full action described by the walkthroughs.
- Use your control layout’s quick-play input. The guides report Up on the D-pad for a controller. If your displayed control differs, use the binding shown for your layout.
Controller and keyboard input caveat
The available walkthroughs describe a controller input and do not establish a default keyboard key. The menu input may be presented differently depending on your device or control bindings; the important sequence is to open the quick-play menu in the correct possession state and finish the play.
