Use the NasdaraMap interactive guide to plan a water-first route, then place medical buildings and recognizable landmarks along that route. Its markers are planning leads, not guarantees: wells can be broken or inactive, medical-category buildings do not promise a particular item, and no landmark is universally safe from players or close-quarters combat.
Nasdara is the 267 km² province in DayZ Badlands, an arid terrain where water scarcity determines whether a long crossing is viable. The most reliable method is to verify a water opportunity before leaving cover, keep a fallback landmark and route visible, and treat cities, industrial sites, ruins and military compounds as orientation anchors with different exposure risks.
What the Nasdara map actually provides
NasdaraMap is an independent interactive guide for the DayZ Badlands terrain. It offers satellite and in-game paper-map views, building-type loot layers, possible-water markers, coordinates, a grid, distance measurement and landmark filters. Those functions let you turn a vague destination into a route with checkpoints rather than relying on memory of the desert.

The current category view shows:

These are map-layer counts recorded in 2026 map data, not a server-wide inventory. Game-build changes, server configuration and loot-state timing can make an individual marker different from what you see on the map.
Why water must be the first route constraint
The official DayZ Badlands announcement gives the survival problem plainly: “Water is as precious as your bullets, as neither the land nor the broken down wells will quench your thirst.” Broken wells are not a cosmetic detail. A route planned around an unverified marker can leave you committed to an exposed crossing with no practical recovery option.
Plan from a verified opportunity, not from a destination
- Open the NasdaraMap map and enable the possible-water layer.
- Choose a water location close to your current position or a covered road approach. Record its displayed coordinate or grid reference.
- Measure the distance from your start to that point and from the point to the next shelter, settlement or road junction.
- Keep a second water marker, or at least a fallback landmark that lets you change direction without crossing open ground, in view.
- Only after those checks should you extend the route toward medical loot, an industrial site or a military destination.
“Possible water” is deliberately weaker than “working well.” Before committing, check the marker against the current game build and your server’s configuration. If you reach the structure and it is broken, empty or otherwise unusable, do not continue on the original line as if the map had confirmed it; switch to the fallback you plotted.

Carry and timing decisions
Start a long desert leg with your containers filled at a source you have personally confirmed. The map cannot tell you how much water your character currently carries, how quickly you are losing it or whether a firefight will force a detour. Measure each leg to a place where you can stop in cover, not merely to the next pin.
When two routes reach the same destination, prefer the one that keeps a road, building cluster, ruin or other visible anchor nearby. A slightly longer path with a second water option is usually more recoverable than a direct line ending at a single uncertain well.
Finding medical loot on Nasdara
The medic filter currently exposes 53 locations. Use it to identify hospitals, clinics and other buildings classified for medical loot near a water stop. The category tells you where to search; it does not establish that a particular medicine will spawn there on every visit.

Build a water-to-medic route
- Leave the possible-water layer enabled and select a confirmed or recently checked water opportunity.
- Turn on the medic layer without clearing the water layer.
- Compare the nearest medical building with the route’s next covered movement point. A clinic beside a road or settlement may be more useful than a theoretically closer building across open desert.
- Use the distance tool to measure the water-to-medic leg and then the medic-to-exit leg. Include a nearby road, bazaar, ruin or other recognizable feature as a meeting point.
- Approach the medical building with an exit direction already chosen. In a city, avoid entering every structure simply because the filter shows a medic tag; close-quarters contact is the main risk of concentrated urban loot.
What “medical location” does and does not mean
- It identifies a medical-category building or site shown by the map’s filter.
- It does not promise a specific medicine, quantity, condition or respawn time.
- It does not make the surrounding streets safe. Players can watch entrances, and urban interiors can force close fights.
- It does not replace an in-game check. Confirm the building’s identity and the current loot state when you arrive.
Cities and bazaars are practical early-run targets because civilian supplies, shade and road connections are concentrated there. Bohemia Interactive’s environment team has described farmland housing, small settlements, large villages and cities across the terrain, with many spaces designed for tight close-quarters combat. Use the map to select a medical building with more than one exit rather than assuming the largest settlement is automatically the best stop.

No source supports calling any Nasdara landmark universally safe. For navigation, define safe as easy to recognize and useful for orienting while allowing you to limit exposure. A landmark can be excellent for bearings and still be a dangerous place to stand.

Industrial facilities are often the best compromise for a long-distance bearing because their shapes and road connections are easier to distinguish than small houses. Military sites are the opposite: excellent reference points, poor assumptions for a “safe” stop. A road through a city can be easier to follow than a compass line across dunes, but the same road can make your movement predictable.

A practical route framework
Compare candidate routes on three axes: water certainty, medical-loot proximity and exposure or threat level. Distance alone is not enough.

A sound default is to stop at water, move to a medical building on the covered side of a settlement, and leave using a road or industrial landmark that gives you a second heading. If the shortest line lacks a fallback water point, the longer city-and-road route can be the safer decision even when it adds distance.

Using the interactive map without losing your bearings
Choose the right map view
Use the in-game paper-map view when you want features that resemble what your character can identify. Switch to satellite imagery when you need to distinguish building clusters, road cuts, industrial yards or open approaches. Cross-check both before committing to a route; a feature obvious in satellite imagery may be difficult to pick out through in-game heat haze.

Combine filters instead of browsing one category at a time
- Start with possible water and landmark layers to establish a survivable corridor.
- Add the medic layer and look for buildings inside that corridor, not merely the closest pin in a straight line.
- Keep the grid and coordinate readout visible while comparing alternatives.
- Use distance measurement between each decision point: start, water, medical building, fallback landmark and exit.
- Write down the sequence in a compact form, such as “road bend → water marker → bazaar edge → clinic → refinery.”
Verify pins in the current build
Independent maps expose categories and coordinates, but the available guidance does not provide an authoritative, version-stamped list of every working well, exact item drop or respawn timer. A beginner guide published in the October 2026 context specifically notes that no official map of working wells, spawn points or respawn timers was available. Treat a pin as a lead until you have checked it in your own server and build.
Failure modes and recovery choices
The marked well is broken
Stop at the structure rather than spending supplies searching randomly. Open your saved fallback marker, identify the nearest covered road or landmark, and recalculate the route. If no alternative is within your character’s remaining water range, retreat toward the last confirmed source instead of pressing deeper into the desert.
The medic building has no useful loot
Leave through the exit you planned and move to the next medical-category location only if the water budget and exposure justify it. The filter identifies a class of building, not a guaranteed item table, so repeatedly checking the same structure is not a reliable recovery plan.
Heat haze hides the next feature
Use a large ruin, tower, refinery, oil facility, city edge or road junction as an intermediate bearing. Recheck the paper-map view and grid rather than navigating toward a tiny structure that may be difficult to distinguish at distance.
A landmark is occupied
Do not equate recognizability with safety. Detour around the landmark using the road network or a second visible anchor, and preserve the route back to water. Military compounds, airbases, bazaars and dense cities deserve particular caution because their entrances and interiors can concentrate contact.
How to decide whether a route is good enough
- Water: Is the first source confirmed or merely a possible-water marker? Is a second option or retreat line visible?
- Medical: Is the medic building reachable without exhausting the water budget, and does it have a planned exit?
- Navigation: Can you identify the next anchor in both the map view and the game world?
- Exposure: Does the route force a long open crossing, a predictable road approach or a high-risk compound?
- Verification: Have you checked the marker against the current game build and server configuration?
If any answer is no, alter the route before leaving cover. Nasdara’s map tools are most valuable when they help you reject an attractive but brittle shortcut.
