They are separate Naruto games with different designs. Tencent’s Naruto Mobile is a fighting-focused mobile game built around playable ninja characters, collection, training systems and player-versus-player combat. Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage was Bandai Namco’s action-strategy game, combining touch-controlled battles with fortress construction, attacks on other players’ bases, resource competition and cooperative raids.
The practical difference is even more important now: the official Naruto games directory currently says that Ninja Voltage’s service is no longer available. Naruto Mobile remains documented through Tencent and a China App Store listing, but those materials do not establish worldwide access, English-language support, account requirements or availability in every country.

What Naruto Mobile is
A Tencent fighting game, not a generic name for every Naruto app
In this comparison, “Naruto Mobile” means Tencent’s Naruto title. Tencent describes it as an authorized game connected with Bandai Namco and developed by Tencent, rather than Naruto Online or another product using the franchise name. The publisher’s product page gives 2016 as the launch year. You can verify that description in Tencent’s Naruto introduction.

That distinction matters when searching stores or guides. A result carrying the Naruto name is not automatically this fighting game, and a guide for one title’s progression systems may not apply to another. The China App Store listing identifies the product as 火影忍者 and names Shenzhen Tencent Tianyou Technology Ltd. as the developer or provider information shown in that market’s listing.
The combat-first loop
Tencent’s description puts playable ninja characters at the center. A typical design loop is to select a character, enter a fight, use that character’s ninjutsu and combos, and improve the roster for later battles. The China App Store copy also highlights full-screen ultimate techniques, so the combat presentation is built around recognizable finishing attacks rather than only menu-based statistics.
The evidence supports a fighting-game emphasis, but it does not establish a single control layout, frame rate, difficulty curve or universal ruleset for every mode. Those details can vary by version and region, and the cited materials do not provide a complete technical manual.

Collection, training and story context
Players collect popular ninjas and develop combat systems while moving through content set against the anime’s plot. “Collection” therefore describes more than a static gallery: the roster is tied to the game’s development systems and to the characters used in battle. Tencent’s official description specifically mentions ninja collection and training or development features.
The sources do not publish a complete roster, rarity chart, upgrade-cost list or campaign length. It would be inaccurate to infer those numbers from another Naruto game, because the franchise has several unrelated mobile and online products.
PvP is a defining activity
Tencent’s official page identifies PvP as part of the game. The China App Store description adds two concrete examples: cross-server 2v2 matching and a fighting tournament. These details point to direct competition between player-controlled ninja teams rather than an exclusively solo campaign.

Cross-server 2v2 does not, by itself, prove that every region uses the same matchmaking pool or that the mode is currently open everywhere. The listing establishes that this feature was described for the China-market version. It does not settle present access, language, account or device requirements outside that market.

An action-strategy game built around fortresses
Bandai Namco Studios producer Masahiro Shirasaki described Ninja Voltage as “This is a game of Shinobi action strategy battle.” That phrase captures the hybrid structure: the player performs quick touch-based actions with shinobi, but the broader objective is to construct, protect and assault fortified bases.
In the game’s documented loop, a player builds a fortress and sets up defenses, then attacks other players’ fortresses to compete for resources. Shinobi and ninjutsu can be enhanced, so the economy and upgrade systems support both sides of play: a stronger offense for raids and a more difficult base for opponents to penetrate.
How a fortress-focused session works
- Prepare the base. Arrange a fortress and its defenses, including traps that make an opponent’s route more dangerous.
- Choose a shinobi team. Select characters and ninjutsu suited to moving through the opposing layout.
- Infiltrate and fight. Navigate the fortress with quick-touch controls, defeat defenders and use ninjutsu or an ultimate technique at the appropriate moment.
- Compete for resources. Successful fortress attacks support the resource race that funds further enhancements.
- Improve both offense and defense. Strengthen shinobi and ninjutsu while making the home fortress harder to defeat.
The sequence explains why Ninja Voltage cannot be reduced to a conventional beat-’em-up. A battle is also a layout problem: traps, routes and defensive placement influence what the attacking player has to do.
Cooperative raids and competitive attacks
The developer interview describes four-player online boss raids. That is a different multiplayer role from a direct 2v2 fighting match: several players cooperate against a boss while fortress attacks create competition over resources. The two activities could sit in the same account progression, but they ask for different behavior—coordination in a raid and planning or adaptation when breaching another player’s base.

According to the developer interview, story missions draw on the original Naruto story, while special missions operate as events. The interview also discusses enhancing characters and cards. This indicates a progression system in which a player’s collection is improved through more than one upgrade category, although the cited source does not provide a full card catalog, cost table or event calendar.

The service is no longer available
The current Naruto official games directory marks Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage with the statement “The service is no longer available.” The directory identifies iOS and Android as its former platforms. That status changes the answer to “Which one should I play?” Ninja Voltage can be discussed as a former game and as a design reference, but it should not be presented as a live alternative that a new player can simply download and enter.
The gameplay differences that matter
Direct character fighting versus base operations
Naruto Mobile makes the individual ninja the primary unit of play. The core question is how to control a character, combine attacks and ninjutsu, and develop a roster for the next fight. Ninja Voltage makes the fortress part of the core unit. The player must think about routes, traps, defense placement and resource gains as well as the timing of attacks.
In practical terms, someone looking for repeated character-versus-character encounters will find Naruto Mobile’s documented structure closer to that expectation. Someone interested in designing a defensive space and then testing other players’ layouts would have found that activity in Ninja Voltage, but the discontinued service prevents treating it as a current option.

Different meanings of PvP
The China App Store description of Naruto Mobile specifies cross-server 2v2 matching and a fighting tournament. Those are explicit competitive formats involving opposing players in a fight. Ninja Voltage’s competition centered on attacking player-built fortresses for resources. The opponent’s base design, traps and defensive setup were therefore part of the challenge, not merely another character’s move set.
Neither source supplies win rates, matchmaking populations or balance measurements. The formats can be compared, but no evidence supports declaring one objectively fairer, more competitive or more popular.
Solo preparation and cooperative play
Naruto Mobile’s cited materials emphasize PvP and character development. Ninja Voltage’s interview adds four-player boss raids, making cooperation a named part of its multiplayer design. The distinction is useful for expectations: a player seeking team coordination against a boss would have found a documented mode in Ninja Voltage, while the available Naruto Mobile description is more explicit about competitive fighting.

Progression focus
Both games use development systems, but they attach them to different objects. Naruto Mobile centers collection and training of ninjas and combat systems. Ninja Voltage combines shinobi and ninjutsu enhancement with fortress growth and cards. A player’s sense of progress in the first is closely tied to the roster and fighting capability; in the second it also includes the quality of the base that other players must attack.
Availability, region and access caveats
What is established for Naruto Mobile
Tencent’s product page presents Naruto Mobile as a mobile game and states a 2016 launch. The China App Store has a listing under Shenzhen Tencent Tianyou Technology Ltd. Together, those sources establish a China-market listing and the publisher’s description of the title.
They do not establish that the game is downloadable worldwide, offered in English, accessible with an account from every country, or compatible with every current iPhone or Android device. Store catalogs, supported languages, login rules and regional service status can change. Check the store for your country and the current Tencent listing before treating any installation guide as applicable to you.
What is established for Ninja Voltage
The former platforms were iOS and Android, but the official franchise directory’s current status is decisive: the service is no longer available. Old videos, screenshots or archived guides can explain how the fortress and raid systems worked, yet they do not indicate that the live service has returned.
Why unofficial downloads are not a substitute for service status
An archived installer or a page that still displays an old app listing cannot restore server-side functions such as matchmaking, resource competitions or online raids. Because the official directory records the service as unavailable, readers should not assume that a file found elsewhere provides a functioning version of the game.
Graphics and technical claims: what can and cannot be concluded
The Bandai Namco Studios interview includes a development anecdote that Ninja Voltage used about half as many polygons per character as other mobile games and about five times as many for its background. The interview does not define the comparison set or measurement method, so these figures are not a head-to-head benchmark against Naruto Mobile. They describe a development target or comparison made by the team, not an independently measured result.

There are no directly comparable published figures in the cited materials for frame rate, download size, device requirements, rendering quality, latency, player population or battery use. Consequently, claims that one title has better graphics, smoother controls, superior balance or greater popularity would go beyond the evidence.

If your priority is direct ninja combat

Ninja Voltage’s developer interview specifically describes four-player online boss raids. The available Naruto Mobile materials do not provide a directly comparable cooperative boss mode. That is a difference in documented features, not proof that one game was more enjoyable or technically superior.
If you need a game you can access today
Verify Naruto Mobile’s listing and regional support before making a decision; the supplied sources do not prove global availability. Do not select Ninja Voltage on the assumption that its former iOS and Android service remains active, because the official directory says it has ended.

Naruto Mobile and Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage represent two distinct approaches to the franchise.
