Read the core manga in this order: Naruto Chapters 1–700, optionally Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapters 1–80, and then Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. A new Naruto manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto was announced at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026, but its title, format, release date and exact place in the timeline have not yet been confirmed. Treat it as a forthcoming work, not as a book you can insert into the order today.
The short answer: the manga reading order
| Step | Work | How to read it | What it contributes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Naruto | Chapters 1–700 | The original Naruto story and its complete primary arc |
| 2 | Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring | Optional single-volume bridge | A short next-generation story centered on Boruto and Sarada |
| 3 | Boruto: Naruto Next Generations | Chapters 1–80 | The first Boruto manga part |
| 4 | Boruto: Two Blue Vortex | Start at Chapter 1 and continue onward | Part Two, continuing directly from Next Generations |
| 5 | New Kishimoto Naruto manga | Wait for official publication details | Announced project whose title, format, timing and chronology remain open |
This is the order for the core manga continuity. It is not a complete chronology of anime-only arcs, films, light novels or every side story. The official Naruto site describes Two Blue Vortex as the second part that follows Next Generations, while VIZ catalogs the two Boruto titles separately.

1. Read Naruto through Chapter 700
Begin with Masashi Kishimoto’s original Naruto manga and read Chapters 1 through 700 in sequence. Chapter 700 is the endpoint of the original series. VIZ’s franchise catalog lists the complete run, and its Boruto series information says that Naruto concluded in late 2014.
Recommended Free Tools
Do not jump to Boruto after a favorite anime arc or after a partial paperback set. The later manga assumes the consequences, relationships and political changes established across the entire original run. Reading all 700 chapters also gives you the intended transition from Naruto’s individual goal to the village and family setting that the next-generation stories use.

2. Decide whether to read Scarlet Spring
What the bridge story is
Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring is a separate manga written and drawn by Kishimoto. Its focus shifts to the next generation, including Naruto’s son Boruto and Sasuke’s daughter Sarada. It functions as a compact transition between the end of Naruto and the longer Boruto manga.
VIZ’s paperback edition is 216 pages and carries ISBN-13 978-1-4215-8493-5. You may use that edition or a licensed digital edition where it is available in your territory.
Is it required?
No. You can move directly from Naruto Chapter 700 to Boruto: Naruto Next Generations without losing the basic series boundary. Read Scarlet Spring if you want a short, authored-by-Kishimoto look at the next generation before committing to the Boruto series.

3. Continue with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Where to start and stop
Start at Chapter 1 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations after finishing Naruto (and Scarlet Spring, if you chose it). Read through Chapter 80. VIZ currently identifies Chapter 80 as the latest chapter of this first part and lists Volume 20 as its final collected volume.
Think of Next Generations as a complete first part rather than as an optional prelude to Two Blue Vortex. Its chapters establish Boruto’s generation, the status of the previous heroes as adults, and the circumstances that lead directly into Part Two.

Credits matter
Calling this a solo Kishimoto manga is inaccurate. VIZ credits Kishimoto with creation and supervision, Mikio Ikemoto with the art, and Ukyo Kodachi with the script for Next Generations. Those credits explain why the series belongs to the Kishimoto-created franchise while still being a collaborative manga production.
Print and digital options
If you collect physical books, Volume 20 completes the Next Generations run in VIZ’s catalog. Check the edition sold in your country because language, release timing and digital chapter access are region-sensitive. A local catalog may show a different availability date from the English-language VIZ catalog.

4. Start Boruto: Two Blue Vortex as Part Two
Why it follows Next Generations
After Chapter 80, move to Chapter 1 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The official Naruto retrospective explicitly presents it as the second part that continues after Next Generations. There is no alternate order between the two Boruto manga parts: Next Generations comes first.
Starting Two Blue Vortex before Chapter 80 of Next Generations means entering Part Two without the preceding part’s setup. If you prefer collected editions, begin with Two Blue Vortex Volume 1 after completing the first part.
Current catalog snapshot
On the VIZ page checked on October 13, 2026, Two Blue Vortex was listed through Chapter 37, dated September 17. The same catalog snapshot identified Volume 6 as the final listed collected volume at that time. These are a dated catalog view, not a permanent worldwide chapter count: publication schedules, collected editions and access can differ by territory.
Rank #3
Who makes the series?
VIZ lists Kishimoto for creation and supervision and Ikemoto for art on Two Blue Vortex. Therefore, “Kishimoto’s Boruto manga” is acceptable as a franchise shorthand only if it does not imply that he alone writes and draws the ongoing title.
5. How to handle the newly announced Kishimoto manga
What was actually announced
At a New York Comic Con special stage on October 10, 2026, the official franchise announcement showed teaser storyboards and displayed the text: “A new ‘Naruto’ manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto.” VIZ issued a separate October 10 release confirming that Kishimoto is working on a new Naruto manga.
The announcement is genuine, but it does not establish an English title, Japanese serialization title, launch date, chapter count, publication format or whether the project is a one-shot, limited series or continuing serialization. It also does not specify its exact position relative to Naruto, Next Generations or Two Blue Vortex.
When will more information arrive?
The official announcement says further details are due at Jump Festa 2027 on December 19–20, 2026. Until that follow-up, do not treat unofficial names such as “Naruto: Shadow Rising” as confirmed, and do not assign the project a place in the reading sequence based on secondary reports.
The practical reading-order rule
- Finish Naruto Chapters 1–700.
- Read or skip Scarlet Spring according to your preference.
- Finish Boruto: Naruto Next Generations through Chapter 80.
- Read Boruto: Two Blue Vortex from Chapter 1 onward.
- When the official announcement supplies the new manga’s format and chronology, place it where those details indicate.
This approach keeps confirmed continuity separate from a project that is only announced. It also prevents you from buying the wrong edition or waiting for a release that has not yet been dated.

Common ordering mistakes
Putting Two Blue Vortex before Next Generations
The names can make the two parts look interchangeable, but they are not. Two Blue Vortex is Part Two. Read the first Boruto part through Chapter 80 before starting Part Two.
Treating Scarlet Spring as mandatory
It is an optional bridge, not an additional numbered section of the 700-chapter Naruto run. Skipping it does not change the required order of the main titles.
Assuming every catalog has the same chapter count
VIZ’s English-language catalog is region-sensitive. The October 13, 2026 snapshot showing Two Blue Vortex through Chapter 37 and Next Generations through Chapter 80 should be read as a dated availability reference. Your local service may release chapters or books on a different schedule.
Attributing all Boruto writing and art to Kishimoto
The official credits distinguish creation and supervision from the day-to-day art and, for Next Generations, the script. Use those credits when describing the books or cataloging a collection.

Buying and collecting the manga
For a physical collection, the natural checkpoints are Naruto through its final Chapter 700, the optional Scarlet Spring paperback, Next Generations Volume 20, and Two Blue Vortex Volume 1 onward. Verify the language, ISBN, stock and territory before ordering because VIZ editions and digital rights vary by region.
The Scarlet Spring paperback’s ISBN-13 is 978-1-4215-8493-5. This identifies the edition described above; it does not guarantee that the same format or stock is available in every market.
A separate NARUTO CARD GAME was announced for worldwide release in June 2027, including an Official Playmat -Naruto vs Sasuke- and Premium Card Collection vol.00 -CHAKRA. That is a future merchandise announcement, not part of the manga reading order and not evidence that those products are currently available.
At-a-glance checklist
- Read Naruto Chapters 1–700.
- Choose whether to add the 216-page Scarlet Spring bridge.
- Read Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapters 1–80.
- Begin Boruto: Two Blue Vortex at Chapter 1.
- Use local catalog information for chapter and volume availability.
- Wait for the Jump Festa 2027 announcement before placing the new Kishimoto manga in the sequence.
The Bottom Line
For the confirmed manga continuity, the order is Naruto 1–700, optional Scarlet Spring, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1–80, then Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The newly announced Kishimoto manga is real, but its reading-order position must wait for official details.
