myFirst announced two child-focused imaging devices on October 14, 2026: the Insta magiCam, a thermal-print camera for photographing and creatively reworking subjects, and the Insta magiBox, a voice-to-image and voice-to-story printer. The magiBox is the comic-making device: a child speaks an idea, the device generates connected artwork, and Voice-to-Story prints it as a four-panel comic on adhesive thermal paper that can be colored.
What the two devices do
Although both products use ink-free thermal printing, they start with different kinds of input.

How magiBox turns a voice idea into a comic
1. Choose a creation mode
In Voice-to-Image, a child describes an idea and selects from six visual styles: Anime, Cartoon, Pencil Art, Line Art, Ink Splash or Doodle. This mode produces an individual illustration.

Voice-to-Story is the comic workflow. The child tells a story, and magiBox creates a connected sequence of four scenes, then prints the result as a four-panel comic. The supplied product information says Voice-to-Story uses one style and prints on the thermal sticker roll; it does not state that the child can mix styles within one story.
2. Use the one-button interface
magiBox has a 2.8-inch HD screen and one-button operation. That combination is intended to keep the creation process simple for children, while the screen provides a preview or interaction point before printing. The published specifications do not describe additional controls or an editing timeline, so parents should not assume the device offers desktop-style panel editing.

3. Wait for generation and printing
After an image is ready, myFirst says printing takes approximately 10 seconds. That figure describes the print step after generation, not the complete time from speaking a prompt; internet response time and image generation can add to the wait.

The output is adhesive thermal media with rounded corners. The included sticker rolls are designed to be peeled and colored with the supplied markers, turning each generated panel or illustration into a physical craft activity rather than a screen-only result.

What comes in the magiBox package

Because the printer is ink-free, there are no ink cartridges to replace. Sticker rolls are consumables, however, so continued use depends on buying compatible replacement media when the included rolls run out. The launch material does not state roll length, replacement pricing or the number of prints per roll.

These are manufacturer-published figures. No independent testing was identified for battery life, print speed, image quality or language recognition, so they should be treated as stated ratings rather than verified performance results.

Does magiBox need a phone or an internet connection?
magiBox requires internet access to generate images and stories. A phone is needed for setup only, according to myFirst; the published description does not say that a phone must remain connected during ordinary creation. Families should therefore plan for Wi-Fi or another internet connection whenever a child wants to make new AI artwork.

A failed or delayed generation should be treated as a connection or service issue rather than evidence that the printer itself is broken.

Child safety and data handling
myFirst says prompts are filtered before generation for violence, self-harm, suicide, pornography and hate speech. It also says voice recordings are deleted immediately, prompts are encrypted in transit, no account or profile is required, prompts are not used to train external AI models, and saved AI images can be deleted.
Those statements are vendor claims, not the results of an independent privacy or safety audit. Parents should still supervise younger children, especially because spoken prompts can contain names, locations or other personal information. Avoid entering sensitive family details, and review any saved images before sharing them.
Release timing, colors and buying uncertainty
The magiBox explainer describes the product as “coming soon” in Blossom Pink and Aqua Blue. The launch announcement warns that pricing, availability, features, connectivity and services may vary by market. No universal release date or verified live retailer listing was established in the launch material, so availability should be checked for the buyer’s country before treating the product as orderable.
myFirst founder and CEO G-Jay Yong said the company wanted technology to enrich children’s curiosity and imagination while leaving room for independent exploration. That goal is reflected in the physical workflow: speaking a story, waiting for a short print cycle, then coloring and arranging the resulting stickers.
