The MSI MPG 321URX is a compelling 31.5-inch 4K gaming monitor if you want a 240Hz QD-OLED image, sharp motion, and useful USB-C and KVM features—and can control room glare and manage OLED’s static-image risk. It is less convincing for a bright room, an always-on desktop workload, or a setup that requires Dolby Vision. RTINGS’ review updated October 7, 2026, identifies the newer MPG 322URX as its replacement, so the 321URX is most worth considering when its current price and availability make sense.
What are the MSI MPG 321URX’s main strengths and drawbacks?
| Strengths | Drawbacks |
|---|---|
| 4K at 240Hz with near-instantaneous pixel response and low input lag, according to RTINGS. | Bright ambient light can make QD-OLED blacks look slightly purple, and the display may not overcome a sunny window opposite it. |
| Deep blacks and vivid colors from pixel-level dimming; RTINGS rates its SDR and HDR image quality highly. | Large HDR areas are less bright than small highlights, so HDR impact is not uniformly intense. |
| USB-C with up to 90W power delivery and KVM can simplify a laptop-and-desktop setup. | OLED pixels can suffer permanent burn-in from persistent static interface elements. |
| HDMI 2.1 console support, adjustable stand, and MSI-stated three-year warranty that includes panel burn-in. | No Dolby Vision; warranty terms depend on region and purchase channel. |
What does the MPG 321URX offer?

Gaming is the 321URX’s clearest strength. RTINGS reports near-instantaneous response, crisp motion, low input lag, and variable refresh rate support. Fast movement therefore looks clean, while 240Hz can make supported PC games feel particularly responsive. To benefit fully, a PC must be capable of rendering the games you play at high frame rates at 4K; the monitor’s refresh-rate ceiling does not mean every game will reach 240 frames per second.
#1 Best Overall
- 31.5" UHD (3840 x 2160) QD-OLED panel
- High 240Hz refresh rate, ultra-low 0.03ms GtG response time
- 1.07 billion colours (10-bit) with incredible gamut (DCI-P3 99%) & accuracy (ΔE ≤2)
- VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified
- OLED Care 2.0 & MSI Gaming Intelligence AI
It is not limited to PC use. MSI lists HDMI 2.1 connectivity and console-oriented support including 120Hz, VRR, and ALLM. Those features make it suitable for compatible current consoles, although the console and game must also support the resolution, refresh rate, and variable-refresh features you want to use.
How does the image hold up for work and creative use?
At 4K, the panel offers ample desktop detail, and RTINGS finds text clarity good for an OLED monitor, with strong editing performance and wide viewing angles. USB-C can carry DisplayPort video and supply up to 90W of power to a compatible laptop. With KVM, one keyboard and mouse can be shared between connected systems, making a laptop-plus-desktop arrangement more convenient.

The main work-related compromise is the panel type. Static interface elements—such as a taskbar, application controls, or persistent window layouts—can increase OLED burn-in risk if displayed for long periods. The 321URX is a more natural fit for varied work and gaming than for an always-on desktop that keeps the same content in the same places for most of the day.
What are the room-lighting and HDR limitations?
In controlled lighting, QD-OLED’s pixel-level dimming produces deep blacks and vivid color. In a bright room, however, RTINGS observes that black areas can take on a slightly purple appearance. MSI describes an anti-reflective coating, but that does not eliminate this ambient-light behavior. If the display will face a sunny window, the 321URX may be a poor fit; RTINGS says it handles glare in many rooms but not a sunny window opposite the screen.

MSI lists 250 nits as typical SDR brightness and DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. RTINGS notes that small HDR highlights stand out more than large bright areas. Expect contrast and highlight pop rather than uniformly high brightness across a full-screen HDR scene.
How should you think about burn-in and warranty coverage?
Burn-in is a real OLED consideration, but there is no verified market-wide failure rate or probability estimate for the MPG 321URX. A single long-duration test illustrates a possible outcome rather than predicting what will happen to every unit: PC Gamer reported that Monitors Unboxed used this exact model for two years and more than 6,000 hours, after which gradually visible burn-in included a faint central line associated with multitasking and marks along the taskbar.

- 3rd Gen QD-OLED Panel – With stunning image quality and fast response time
- DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR20) – Offering up to 80Gbps bandwidth, allowing gamers to enjoy native, lossless 4K at 240Hz for a smoother experience
- Fastest 0.03ms GtG response time and 240Hz refresh rate
- QD Premium Color – Ensures the color meets the market standard – Delta E≤2

MSI advertises OLED Care 2.0 and specifies a three-year warranty that includes panel burn-in. That is MSI’s stated coverage, not assurance that every burn-in condition or claim will be accepted. Confirm the applicable terms for your country and seller before buying, and consider whether your routine involves long sessions with fixed interface elements.
What should you compare before buying?
RTINGS’ review, updated October 7, 2026, says the MPG 321URX has been replaced by the MPG 322URX. Current stock and street prices can change, so compare live listings rather than relying on an assumed discount or availability. The review unit was manufactured in April 2024 and tested on firmware FW.011; its findings describe that tested unit and firmware, not necessarily every later production or firmware configuration.
Best Value
- 3rd-Gen QD-OLED Panel – With stunning image quality and fast response time.
- Fastest 0.03ms GtG response time and 240Hz refresh rate.
- QD Premium Color – Ensures the color meets the market standard – Delta E≤2.
- Incredible HDR visual – VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400.
- Gaming Intelligence App – Create the perfect viewing settings for your games.
- Ambient light and screen finish: Consider how the display behaves in your room, especially if you game or edit dark scenes with strong light falling on the screen. RTINGS names the Samsung Odyssey OLED G80SD as an alternative with a matte screen and integrated apps and remote, which may suit someone seeking TV-like features.
- Dolby Vision: The 321URX does not support it. RTINGS identifies the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM as a 32-inch-class alternative with Dolby Vision and different USB features.
- USB-C and KVM: The 321URX’s 90W USB-C power delivery and KVM are useful when connecting a laptop and desktop. Check exact port and switching features on any alternative rather than assuming similar model names mean similar functionality.
- Warranty and generation: Compare regional burn-in warranty terms and the current price of the 321URX against the newer MPG 322URX before choosing based on value.
Check the model suffix carefully. The MPG 321URXW is a white color variant. The MAG 321UPX is a similar but distinct model: RTINGS says it has 15W USB-C power delivery and lacks KVM, compared with the MPG 321URX’s 90W and KVM.
Is the MSI MPG 321URX worth it?
It is a strong choice for someone who wants fast 4K gaming, high contrast, and a useful laptop-oriented USB-C/KVM setup, and who can use it in controlled lighting. It is a less suitable match for a sunlit room, a mostly static desktop workload, or a Dolby Vision requirement. Because RTINGS identifies the MPG 322URX as its replacement, the 321URX’s value depends on the actual price, availability, and warranty terms where you shop.
