For a direct phone-to-phone transfer, use Clone Phone on the OnePlus: set it up as the new phone, connect the Samsung by scanning the QR code, and select Contacts. If the contacts already sync with Google, signing into that same account is simpler. A VCF contact file is a useful fallback for local or selected contacts.
Choose the method that matches where your contacts are saved
- Clone Phone: Best for moving contacts directly from the Samsung to the OnePlus when the feature is available on your OnePlus model.
- Google sync: Best when the contacts are already saved to or synced with a Google account you can use on the OnePlus.
- VCF file: Useful for selected contacts or contacts stored locally on the Samsung that are not synced to Google.
Before choosing, check the contact storage location on the Samsung. Samsung Contacts can save entries to the phone or a Google account, and some may belong to a work account, SIM, or another service.
Transfer contacts with Clone Phone
OnePlus documents Clone Phone as a way to migrate data from another Android phone. The OnePlus is the receiving phone; the Samsung is the old phone. The documented process connects the devices by QR code. [OnePlus support]

- On the OnePlus, open Clone Phone, choose I’m a new phone, then select Android as the old-phone type.
- Follow the OnePlus prompts. If it asks you to install Clone Phone on the Samsung, do so and open the app there.
- On the Samsung, choose I’m an old phone in Clone Phone, then scan the QR code shown on the OnePlus.
- Select Contacts and start the transfer. When it finishes, open Contacts on the OnePlus and check that the entries arrived.
These labels and the app’s availability can vary by OnePlus model and software version. The cited OnePlus manual covers the Nord N300 5G and documents the general process; it does not establish that every current model uses identical screens. The guide describes QR pairing and does not say a cable is required.

Bring back contacts with Google sync
Use this method if the Samsung contacts are already synced to Google. Add the same Google account to the OnePlus and make sure contact sync is enabled; the synced contacts should appear in Contacts. Samsung explains that contacts can be saved to Google or to the phone, so signing into Google will not bring over entries that exist only on the Samsung.
If some contacts do not appear, check which account or location owns them on the Samsung before repeating the sync. Local-only entries can be transferred with Clone Phone or exported as a VCF file.

Export contacts from Samsung and import the VCF on OnePlus
A VCF file (also called a vCard file) is portable and can hold selected contacts or a group of contacts. Samsung supports sharing contacts as a file, though the control names can vary by device. OnePlus manuals document importing a VCF file exported from another device; the cited instructions are for an older model, so menus may differ on a newer OnePlus.

Choose the contacts you want to move if the device offers a selection step.
- Send the VCF file to the OnePlus using a file-sharing method available to you.
- On the OnePlus, open Contacts and find the import option. Select the VCF file and follow the prompts to add the contacts.
- Open a few imported entries to confirm that their details came through.
Why Samsung Smart Switch is not the right app for this move
Samsung says Smart Switch transfers content to Galaxy devices. Because the destination here is a OnePlus, use Clone Phone, Google sync, or a VCF file instead. Samsung also lists contacts from Google accounts, work email, SIM cards, and social networks among the contacts that may be excluded from Smart Switch backups. That makes it especially important to check where missing entries are stored rather than assuming they were included in a device transfer.

Check for missing details or duplicates
- Some contacts are missing: Check whether they were saved to the Samsung phone, Google, a work account, a SIM, or another service. Sync the account that owns them or export and import the local entries separately.
- Entries appear more than once: Review the OnePlus Contacts manager for a merge option. The cited OnePlus manual for an older model documents merging contacts by name or number; availability and wording can vary.
- A contact looks incomplete: Inspect a few records with multiple phone numbers, email addresses, or notes. Compare them with the Samsung originals before deleting or merging anything.
- You are unsure whether a cable is needed: The documented Clone Phone flow pairs by QR code and does not establish that a cable is necessary. Follow your specific device’s prompts if it offers a wired option.
