MOVE Bank’s Home Buildings and Contents Plus is a combined home insurance option for the building and household belongings. MOVE Bank distributes the cover with CGU; Insurance Australia Limited issues it under the CGU brand. The main benefit MOVE Bank highlights for the Plus level is temporary accommodation for eligible owner-occupiers, subject to approval and policy limits. This review draws on MOVE Bank’s April 2025 product summary; the current policy documents determine what is actually covered.
What is MOVE Bank Home Buildings and Contents Plus?
It is a home insurance policy, not a physical product. MOVE Bank describes buildings cover as protection for the home structure and contents cover as protection for belongings such as furniture, electronics, appliances and valuables. Its April 2025 article says the combined option brings both types of cover together to help protect the home and its contents.
The summary names storms, floods, fire, vandalism, theft and extreme weather as examples of events, but those examples are not a complete coverage list or confirmation that a particular loss will be paid. Definitions, conditions, exclusions, excesses and any exclusion periods in the applicable policy wording govern each claim.
Who distributes and issues the insurance?
MOVE Bank says it distributes the insurance under an agreement with Insurance Australia Limited, which issues it under the CGU brand. MOVE Bank identifies CGU as its insurance partner. Its product material describes the information it provides as general rather than tailored advice and directs customers to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD).

What does the Plus level add?
MOVE Bank’s April 2025 summary describes temporary accommodation as a Home Buildings Plus benefit. For an owner-occupier, it says reasonable temporary accommodation costs may be covered if the insurer is satisfied the home is unliveable. The insurer must agree to the cost before arrangements are made. The summary states a maximum of up to two years, or until the home is repaired or replaced, whichever happens first, capped at up to 20% of the buildings sum insured. These are stated limits, not an automatic entitlement or a guarantee that costs will be paid.
For renters, MOVE Bank describes the benefit as reasonable extra rent costs; for owners living in the insured home, it describes reasonable temporary accommodation costs. The relevant eligibility rules, approval process and limits should be checked in the current policy wording and Certificate of Insurance.

What should you verify before requesting a quote?
- Current documents: Obtain the current PDS, TMD and a Certificate of Insurance for the product and cover option being quoted. Confirm that the policy name and version match Home Buildings and Contents Plus.
- Covered events and definitions: Check how the policy defines each event, including flood, and review applicable conditions, exclusions and waiting or exclusion periods. The examples in MOVE Bank’s summary do not establish that every loss involving those events is covered.
- Limits and sums insured: Confirm the buildings and contents sums insured, any item or category sub-limits, and how valuables or portable belongings are treated. Do not assume cover for tenants’ contents, landlord-owned contents, strata or common property, or business property unless the current wording expressly includes it.
- Excesses and eligibility: Check the excess for relevant claims, eligibility criteria and any responsibilities you must meet. MOVE Bank’s summary notes that excesses and exclusion periods may apply.
- Temporary accommodation: Confirm who qualifies, what expenses count as reasonable, when the insurer must approve costs, and how the limit applies to your buildings sum insured.
- Quote details: Compare premiums only using the same location, property details, cover type and excess. The available product material does not establish a price, value ranking or claims-performance record.
How much should you rely on the published summary?
The temporary-accommodation figures and event examples above come from MOVE Bank’s April 2025 article, not a verified current contract schedule. A MOVE Bank-hosted PDS also surfaced with detailed wording, but its title and terminology do not establish that it is the current PDS for the refreshed Plus product. Treat that document as historical context unless MOVE Bank or the insurer confirms it applies. Use the current PDS and Certificate of Insurance for the operative terms, limits and exclusions.
Who may find it worth considering?
The combined structure may suit someone seeking both buildings and contents cover through MOVE Bank’s insurance distribution arrangement. The Plus accommodation benefit may also be relevant to an owner-occupier who wants a defined temporary-housing provision, provided the current policy documents confirm the terms fit their circumstances. Whether it is suitable or competitively priced cannot be determined from the published summary alone; that requires a current quote and a like-for-like comparison of policy terms.
