For US buyers comparing the two premium clamshells, Samsung has the lower published starting price: $1,199.99 before trade-in, versus Motorola’s $1,499.99 US MSRP for the Razr Ultra 2026. The Motorola’s published specs also show a larger, faster-refreshing display and higher battery capacity and charging ratings. Those figures do not establish which phone lasts longer or takes better photos in everyday use.
Names vary by region: Motorola calls its 2026 US model the Razr Ultra 2026 and its international counterpart the razr 70 ultra. Prices and configurations below are market-specific; check local listings before buying.
What do the Razr Ultra 2026 and Galaxy Z Flip8 cost?
As of 2026, Motorola announced a US MSRP of $1,499.99 for the Razr Ultra 2026. Samsung’s US product page lists the Galaxy Z Flip8 from $1,199.99 before trade-in. That is a nominal difference of about $300 in Samsung’s favor, not a guaranteed checkout-price gap: promotions, trade-ins, storage configurations, and seller offers can change what you pay. Motorola’s US announcement says preorder availability begins May 14, 2026, through Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Motorola.com, with unlocked sales beginning May 21.

How do the displays compare?
| Display | Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 / razr 70 ultra | Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 |
|---|---|---|
| Main display | Approximately 6.96 inches; 165Hz; 1224 × 2992 resolution | 6.9 inches when open |
| Cover display | 4 inches; 165Hz | 4.1 inches when closed |
Motorola’s official specification page describes an Extreme AMOLED main screen and lists both Motorola displays at 165Hz. Samsung’s US page gives the open and closed display sizes but the cited information does not establish a comparable refresh-rate figure. The numbers describe size and refresh rate, not brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility, or overall display quality. Motorola’s specifications and Samsung’s product page are the sources for these published dimensions.

Processor, memory, and storage
Motorola’s support specifications list a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for the Razr 70 Ultra. Android Central’s comparison reports 16GB RAM and 512GB storage for the Razr Ultra 2026; for the Galaxy Z Flip8 it reports 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage configurations. Treat those memory and storage details as comparison-page reporting rather than a complete inventory of every regional SKU. Motorola’s regional product names and configurations can differ.

Battery and charging
| Specification | Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 / razr 70 ultra | Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 |
|---|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 5,000mAh, silicon-carbon | 4,300mAh |
| Wired charging | 68W | 25W, as reported by Android Central |
| Wireless charging | 30W | 15W, as reported by Android Central |
| Video playback claim | Not stated in the cited Motorola specifications | Up to 31 hours, according to Samsung |
Motorola’s battery and charging values come from its official specifications; Samsung lists a 4,300mAh battery and claims up to 31 hours of video playback on its US product page. The Samsung playback figure is a manufacturer claim, not a promise of typical screen-on time. Battery capacity and charging ratings alone cannot determine real-world endurance, charging time, or performance under a particular workload.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhich phone is lighter and easier to carry?
Samsung lists the Galaxy Z Flip8 at 180g. Android Central’s comparison reports the Razr Ultra 2026 at 199g, making the Samsung lighter by 19g in those published figures. The Razr weight here is secondary-source comparison data, not an official Motorola specification verified for every market model. The cited material does not provide a like-for-like set of folded dimensions for both phones, so weight is the clearest supported portability comparison.

- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
How do the cameras compare?
Motorola’s official specifications list two rear 50MP cameras: a wide camera with optical image stabilization and an ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view. Samsung’s US product page lists a 50MP wide camera. These headline figures do not establish which phone produces better photos or video; megapixel counts alone do not capture image processing, low-light results, focus behavior, or consistency.

Motorola lists Android 16 for the razr 70 ultra and commits to up to three years of OS upgrades and up to five years of security upgrades. These are manufacturer-published support commitments, not a guarantee that every regional model receives updates on the same schedule.

The available published specifications do not settle the practical experience of using either cover screen, hinge longevity, camera quality, real battery life, or update performance. Android Central’s comparison says its direct comparison was still underway and did not provide a completed controlled test or final verdict. Buyers who prioritize those factors should look for independent testing of the exact market model and software version before deciding.

Quick Recap
Which flip phone should you buy?
- Choose the Galaxy Z Flip8 if the lower published US starting price and lower listed weight matter most, or if you want Samsung’s 4.1-inch closed display. The $1,199.99 figure is before trade-in and may change with offers.
- Consider the Razr Ultra 2026 / razr 70 ultra if its published 5,000mAh battery, 68W wired and 30W wireless charging ratings, dual 165Hz displays, or listed camera configuration best fit your priorities, and the relevant local price works for you.
- Wait for market-specific details or independent testing if your decision depends on actual battery life, camera results, hinge durability, cover-screen app behavior, or update delivery; the cited specifications do not answer those questions.
