The Motorola Razr+ (2026) has the lower stated U.S. price: $1,099.99 MSRP, compared with Samsung’s $1,199.99 starting price for the Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung lists a lighter, thinner design and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor; Motorola lists a larger battery capacity, 45W charging, and an IP48 rating. Those specifications point to different priorities, but they do not establish an overall winner: the available figures are manufacturer claims, not results from comparable hands-on tests.

Motorola Razr+ vs. Galaxy Z Flip8: which should I buy?

Choose based on what matters most, and check the live price and exact storage configuration before ordering. At the listed U.S. prices, the Razr+ is the lower-cost starting point. The Z Flip8 has Samsung-listed weight and thickness figures and a newer-named processor. Neither set of facts proves better battery endurance, camera quality, durability, or day-to-day performance.

  • Consider the Razr+ if: its lower announced MSRP, 4500mAh rated capacity, 45W TurboPower charging, or IP48 rating fits your priorities.
  • Consider the Z Flip8 if: Samsung’s listed 180g weight, 6.1mm unfolded thickness, or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is more appealing to you.

These are preference-based distinctions, not test-based recommendations.

The stated figures make Motorola’s MSRP $100 lower than Samsung’s displayed starting price. This is a comparison of announced/listed prices, not a promise of current savings: promotions, stock, and configurations can change. Check each manufacturer or retailer for the configuration and price currently available.

Motorola’s model discussed here is the U.S. Razr+ (2026). Do not assume specifications or availability for its international sibling, which Motorola also calls the Razr 70 Plus, are identical.

Cover screens, main displays, and battery capacity

Specification Motorola Razr+ (2026) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8
External/closed display 4.0 inches 4.1 inches closed
Main display Not stated in the cited Motorola specifications 6.9 inches open
Battery capacity 4500mAh 4300mAh

These are manufacturer-listed dimensions and capacities. A 0.1-inch difference in external-screen diagonal does not establish which cover screen is easier to use; layout, software, and supported tasks matter too. Likewise, battery capacity alone cannot predict runtime. Motorola claims the Razr+ battery provides “over 31 hours of battery life,” but that is Motorola’s claim, not an independently measured result. The available specifications do not establish which phone lasts longer in real use.

Weight, thickness, charging, and durability

Samsung lists the Z Flip8 at 180g and 6.1mm thick when unfolded. Samsung also describes it as “The world’s lightest, thinnest flip”; that is Samsung’s comparative marketing language, not an independently verified ranking. The cited Motorola specifications do not provide corresponding weight and thickness figures, so these numbers are not enough for a complete size comparison.

Motorola lists 45W TurboPower charging and an IP48 rating for the Razr+ (2026). The cited Samsung specifications do not establish a comparable charging rate or durability rating. These differences in listed information do not show that one handset charges faster in practice or withstands damage better. An IP rating is not a guarantee against all water or dust exposure.

Processor, cameras, and software support

Motorola lists a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. Samsung lists a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. The names alone do not quantify the performance gap in specific tasks; no comparable benchmark or real-world performance test is established here.

Samsung’s U.S. page lists a 50MP wide camera. A megapixel count does not determine photo quality, and the available facts do not support a camera winner. Comparable camera results for both phones are not established. Software-support duration and repairability are also not verified here, so check each manufacturer’s current support information if those factors will shape how long you keep a phone.

What the listed specifications can—and cannot—settle

  • Price: Motorola announced a $1,099.99 U.S. MSRP; Samsung’s U.S. page displayed a $1,199.99 starting price. Actual offers and configuration prices may differ.
  • External display and battery capacity: Samsung lists a slightly larger closed-screen diagonal; Motorola lists a 200mAh higher capacity. Neither fact establishes convenience or battery life.
  • Portability: Samsung provides weight and unfolded-thickness figures, but a matched set of measurements for both phones is not available here.
  • Charging and protection: Motorola lists 45W charging and IP48; those specifications alone do not settle real-world charging time or comparative toughness.
  • Performance and cameras: Processor names and a camera resolution are not substitutes for comparable testing.

So, which compact foldable is better in 2026? The evidence supports a specification-and-price comparison, not a defensible overall winner. The Razr+ has the lower stated MSRP; the Z Flip8’s published weight, unfolded thickness, and processor details may matter more to some buyers. Let your priorities and the live prices decide unless you can compare the phones using tests that match how you plan to use them.
