The Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G has the stronger headline hardware on the available specifications: a Dimensity 8500 Extreme chip, a 6.8-inch 2772 × 1272 AMOLED display, a 6,500mAh battery and 90W wired charging. The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G costs less at launch and offers a longer stated software-support commitment: six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. For buyers choosing between them, the key trade-off is Motorola’s hardware specification versus Samsung’s support promise and lower launch price; current retailer prices and exact variants need checking before purchase.

Manufacturer pages are the stronger source for each company’s own specifications and support terms. Some Samsung hardware details above come from secondary comparison listings, not a complete Samsung specification sheet, so check the exact India variant before treating them as final. The table compares reported launch prices, not guaranteed current offers.
Which phone is better for performance and display?
Motorola has the stronger stated hardware profile
The Edge 70 Pro’s listed Dimensity 8500 Extreme, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage give it the more ambitious paper specification. The Galaxy M47’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is reported by comparison sites, but the available evidence does not include independent benchmark results or a direct performance test. The chip names alone do not establish how the phones behave in sustained gaming, heat, or everyday use.

Motorola’s display figures are more complete
Motorola specifies a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED panel at 2772 × 1272. Comparison listings put the M47’s screen at 6.7 inches, but do not establish its resolution or refresh rate in the cited details. The Motorola has the larger stated screen, but the available data is not enough to make a complete display-quality comparison.

How do battery life and charging compare?
The Edge 70 Pro is listed with a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery and 90W wired charging. Secondary comparison pages list the Galaxy M47 with a 6,000mAh battery; charging speed is not established in the cited product details. Motorola’s stated battery-duration figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results, so capacity and charging wattage should not be mistaken for measured endurance or real-world charging time.
Which phone offers longer software support?
Samsung’s India product page states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, counted from the M47’s first global launch date. Motorola’s Edge 70 Pro support listing says up to three years of OS upgrades and security patches. The wording matters: Motorola says “up to,” while Samsung specifies the number of generations and years. Confirm the policy for the specific regional model, and note that the Samsung security-support period is tied to its first global launch rather than necessarily beginning on the date you buy it.

What is the price difference in India?
At launch, reports put the Edge 70 Pro at ₹36,999 for the base version and ₹41,999 for the 12GB RAM version. Samsung’s reported Galaxy M47 launch price was ₹22,999. On those launch figures, the M47 was ₹14,000 below the Motorola base model and ₹19,000 below its 12GB version.
Those are dated launch prices, not a current price promise. A 91mobiles comparison snapshot retrieved in 2026 showed ₹35,999 at Amazon and ₹36,999 at Flipkart for Motorola, and ₹29,749 at Flipkart for Samsung. Smartprix later reported ₹38,990 and ₹26,997 respectively, with its comparison data last updated 2026-09-12. The snapshots differ, and can reflect different dates, sellers, configurations or promotions. Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Pro if the listed processor, higher-resolution display, larger battery capacity or 90W wired charging best match your priorities, and the live price fits your budget.
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy M47 if the lower reported launch price and its stated six-year security-update and six-generation OS-upgrade commitment matter more to you.
- Pause before deciding if camera quality, display refresh rate, charging speed for Samsung, or independent performance and endurance results are decisive. The cited details do not establish a reliable head-to-head answer on those points.
Before ordering, confirm the exact model and RAM/storage configuration, then check its full regional specification and support policy. A listing for a different variant can make both the price and the comparison misleading.
