MOTIONFORGE is a collection of fifteen interactive web-motion experiments built around a different question from the usual animation brief: what would motion look like if it gave a website physical character instead of merely decorating it? Its creator, Mohamed Sadok, treats movement as part of how an interface responds and communicates—not as an effect to add after the fact.
What is MOTIONFORGE?
Mohamed Sadok describes MOTIONFORGE as a live gallery of fifteen distinct motion systems. Rather than a set of generic page-entry animations, the experiments react to different kinds of input, including pointer proximity, movement velocity, scroll progress, and atmosphere. The point is to match the mechanism to the feeling or information the interaction needs to convey.
Sadok’s account is a creator’s description, not an independent code inspection, product review, or performance audit. It explains the project’s design and reported implementation choices, but does not establish measured performance or independently verified product details.

How does the project make motion feel meaningful?
The useful design question is not simply which animation looks impressive. It is: what is the simplest mechanism that can make this interaction feel convincing? A response that follows a pointer, a transition tied to scrolling, and a scene with actual depth solve different problems. Choosing a technique because it suits the behavior can make movement clarify what the interface is doing; choosing it only for novelty risks making the effect the point.

Magnetic typography: motion at the letter level
For magnetic typography, Sadok describes treating glyphs as individual elements with positions and velocities, influenced by a spatial force field and springs. That model makes the text respond as a collection of characters rather than as one rigid block. It is a more involved approach than moving an entire heading, so it makes sense when the intended effect depends on letters yielding or pulling independently.
Liquid button: deform the outline, preserve the control
The liquid magnetic button uses a deformable boundary and SVG turbulence to create a fluid response. Sadok says a native button remains underneath the visual treatment. That distinction matters: the motion can change how the control looks without making its fundamental purpose—being a button—depend on a decorative graphic.

Product explosion: use real depth when depth matters
In the scroll-driven product explosion, components separate through actual depth and camera perspective. Sadok’s rationale is that a flat imitation would not hold up to close inspection. The broader lesson is to use a genuinely three-dimensional construction when the desired interaction asks viewers to perceive spatial relationships, rather than adding a 3D tool to an effect that does not need one.

Liquid Reality Reveal: distortion follows the pointer
Sadok describes the Liquid Reality Reveal as combining turbulence and radial displacement with a moving boundary. Pointer velocity affects the distortion, while a responsive lens samples an alternate image. In this explanation, the transition is not simply a static filter: its appearance changes with how the viewer moves through it. These are the creator’s implementation notes, not independently inspected source code.

What should developers learn from its engineering choices?
Interactive effects create work beyond drawing the effect itself. Sadok identifies viewport changes, touch input, repeated mounting, late-loading images, WebGL context limits, and operating-system reduced-motion preferences as concerns. He reports using a shared lifecycle for configuring, pausing, resuming, and destroying effects; starting effects near the viewport and releasing scenes after they leave it; bounding pixel ratio; reducing mobile rendering; and guarding late texture requests.
These are reported safeguards, not proof that every effect performs well on every device. Sadok does not claim a universal frame rate; performance needs profiling in the browsers and on the devices a particular project targets.

- Manage effect lifecycles. Configure and tear down scenes deliberately, especially when components mount repeatedly or users navigate between views.
- Limit unnecessary work. Initializing near the viewport and releasing scenes outside it can avoid keeping off-screen effects active.
- Plan for device constraints. Pixel ratio and rendering load matter, and mobile input and rendering may differ from desktop.
- Handle resources that arrive late. Image and texture requests can complete after an effect’s context has changed or been removed, so the implementation needs guards.
- Test the target environment. Profile the browsers and devices that the actual audience uses rather than assuming a technique has a fixed performance cost.
How should reduced motion work?
Sadok’s principle is that reducing movement should not remove the experience. Text should remain readable, images available, navigation functional, and buttons usable. Decorative behavior can stop or become static, but the content and controls should still make sense without animation.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →That principle is a practical design test: if disabling movement makes the interface impossible to understand or operate, motion has become a dependency rather than an enhancement. Preserve the purpose of each interaction in its reduced-motion form.

What can visitors and developers access?
Sadok describes two parts of the project: a public gallery for exploring effects, opening larger previews, adjusting parameters, and saving a preset locally; and a local developer edition with source code, copyable examples, documentation, architecture-aware customization prompts, and demo source.
The linked public demo is MOTIONFORGE on Vercel, and the developer edition is linked through MOTIONFORGE on Gumroad. Current availability, pricing, license, terms, and other product details are not established here, so check the linked pages for their present status.
When is this approach useful?
MOTIONFORGE is most useful as a way to think about the relationship between input, visual response, and implementation—not as a prescription to add elaborate movement everywhere. Before building an effect, identify what should cause it and what the movement should help the user perceive.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Use pointer proximity when the interaction should react to where a person is near an element.
- Use velocity-sensitive behavior when the force or distortion should reflect how quickly the pointer moves.
- Use scroll progression when the change should unfold in step with a reader’s movement through a page.
- Use real depth when spatial separation and perspective are central to the experience.
- Keep atmospheric or decorative movement optional when it does not carry essential information.
As Sadok puts it, “But technology is not the idea.” The technique earns its place when it makes the interface’s behavior more legible or more convincing.
