Comfort depends on your head and ear shape, glasses, heat tolerance, and preferred fit, so no headphone is guaranteed to feel comfortable to everyone. The available review evidence supports four useful over-ear candidates—not a verified five-model in-house test list: Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), Sony WH-1000XM6, Sony WH-CH730N, and Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless. Treat these as attributed third-party assessments, then use the fit factors below to decide what to try.
Why this is a four-model shortlist, not a five-headphone test ranking
The title asks for five headphones tested by this publication, but the available evidence does not establish which five models it tested. It would be misleading to present third-party reviews as our own wear tests or add an unsupported fifth pick. The four models below are candidates drawn from named reviews; their comfort assessments belong to those reviewers, not to an in-house test.

Comfort is subjective. Weight is only one part of fit: clamp force, headband and ear-pad cushioning, cup depth and shape, breathability, and stability can matter just as much. Glasses, ear shape, and how warm your ears get can change how a model feels over a long session.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen): comfort-forward for travel
SoundGuys names the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) its most comfortable choice for long flights, while TechRadar describes the padding and clamp force as comfortable over hours of wear. TechRadar reports a weight of 250 g in its 2025 review. These are third-party judgments, not a guarantee that the fit will suit every wearer.
#1 Best Overall
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.

Sony WH-1000XM6: a comfort and noise-cancellation balance
SoundGuys describes the Sony WH-1000XM6 as balancing comfort and noise cancellation, and RTINGS ranks it behind Bose in its cited comfort comparison. SoundGuys also flags the Sony’s thinner ear pads as a potential concern in its comparison with the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless. That makes pad feel and cup fit especially worth checking if you plan to wear them for hours.
SoundGuys measured 37 hours 14 minutes of ANC playback in its 2025 standardized test. That is a test-specific battery result, not a measure of comfort or a promise for every listening setup.

Rank #2
- Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling: 2 internal and 2 external mics work in tandem to detect external noise and effectively reduce up to 90% of it, no matter in trains or offices.
- Immerse Yourself in Detailed Audio: The noise cancelling headphones have oversized 40mm dynamic drivers that produce detailed sound and thumping beats with BassUp technology for your every travel, commuting and gaming. Compatible with Hi-Res certified audio via the AUX cable for more detail.
- 40-Hour Long Battery Life and Fast Charging: With 40 hours of battery life with ANC on and 60 hours in normal mode, you can commute in peace with your Bluetooth headphones without thinking about recharging. Fast charge for 5 mins to get an extra 4 hours of music listening for daily users.
- Dual-Connections: Connect to two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth 5.0 and instantly switch between them. Whether you're working on your laptop, or need to take a phone call, audio from your Bluetooth headphones will automatically play from the device you need to hear from.
- App for EQ Customization: Download the soundcore app to tailor your sound using the customizable EQ, with 22 presets, or adjust it yourself. You can also switch between 3 modes: ANC, Normal, and Transparency, and relax with white noise.
Sony WH-CH730N: a lighter, less premium option
What Hi-Fi reports the Sony WH-CH730N weighs 207 g and says its padded cushions and headband make it less of a burden during extended wear. This is a reviewer’s subjective assessment; the available evidence does not establish an in-house ranking or show how the fit will feel on different head shapes.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless: a comparison point, not a comfort winner
The available review evidence makes the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless useful for comparison with the Sony WH-1000XM6, but does not establish it as a comfort winner. SoundGuys measured 56 hours 21 minutes of ANC playback in its 2025 standardized test. Battery endurance can be useful if charging interruptions matter to you, but it does not tell you whether the headphones will feel comfortable.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to judge all-day comfort before you commit
- Check pressure, not just weight. A light pair can still feel uncomfortable if the clamp presses your temples or jaw. Notice whether pressure builds during a longer listening session.
- Consider glasses and ear shape. Arms of glasses can interact with the ear pads, and shallow or narrow cups may press on the outer ear. If possible, try the headphones while wearing your usual glasses.
- Look at cushioning and cup space. Headband padding affects pressure on the crown; pad softness and cup depth affect contact around the ear. The Sony WH-1000XM6 comparison is a reminder that thinner pads may be a concern for some wearers.
- Assess heat and stability. A secure fit matters if you move around, but a warm or overly tight fit can become tiring. Your own wear experience is more informative than a comfort label alone.
- Match the use case. For flights, comfort over long stretches matters; for work, consider whether the fit stays tolerable through repeated sessions. Battery life, noise cancellation, portability, controls, and sound preference can also affect which pair works best for you.
- Check the return terms. Because fit varies, confirm the seller’s return policy before buying, especially if you cannot try the model in person.
What the figures can—and cannot—tell you
The published weights and battery results help with specific comparisons, but they are not interchangeable measures. Weight gives one specification to consider; battery figures describe playback under a particular test method. Neither establishes how a headphone feels on your head, and battery performance should not be treated as evidence of comfort.
