Mortal Shell II’s optional Slayer Seal changes how combat works; it is not a standard Easy/Normal difficulty menu. Find it at the Magnificent Seat in Marrow Keep, reached from Marrow Cape. Equipping it gives Sidearms Break Damage and lets Ripostes restore Health and Resolve, but guides report that doing so disables achievements or trophies on that save. If you want to preserve eligibility, collect the Seal if you like, but do not equip it on that save.
Where to find the Slayer Seal
Reach Marrow Keep after the tutorial and start from Marrow Cape. Follow the route to the throne area: go right along the path, take the next right, then turn left. The Seal is at the Magnificent Seat. Shacknews describes it as being in a side room at Marrow Keep, on a stone chair; the route and throne location are also described by NerdsChalk and Shacknews.
Picking up the Seal and equipping it are separate actions. Fan guides say that collecting it alone does not trigger the reported achievement penalty. Read the confirmation text carefully before equipping it, especially if this is your completion save.

The Seal alters the combat loop rather than simply lowering enemy statistics, based on the available guide descriptions. Sidearms deal Break Damage, building toward an enemy break and a Riposte opportunity. Ripostes restore Health and Resolve, offering a way to recover during combat. These effects are reported by Shacknews and NerdsChalk; they do not establish a general reduction to enemy strength.

- THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
- CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
- DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
Will equipping it disable trophies or achievements?
Reviewed guides report that equipping the Slayer Seal disables achievements or trophies for that save, including if you later remove the Seal. No official platform documentation establishes whether the lockout can be reversed across current platforms, so treat the warning as permanent rather than testing it on a save where you want achievements or trophies.
Cold Symmetry co-founder and game director Andrew McLennan-Murray is quoted in a Reddit post explaining that the original plan was for Slayer Seal to have a separate, mutually exclusive achievement set, and for the mode to offer a different way to experience the game. The same post relays his explanation that console achievements had been finalized months earlier as disc and digital versions were preparing to ship, leading the team to lock achievements when the mode was added. This account is relayed by the Reddit post, not a directly verified interview transcript.

Choose the right save before activating it
| Choice | Combat | Achievement or trophy eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| Leave the Seal unequipped | Keep the usual combat loop. | Preserve eligibility, according to the reviewed guides. |
| Equip the Slayer Seal | Sidearms build Break Damage; Ripostes restore Health and Resolve. | Guides report a save-level lockout that may remain after removing the Seal. |
If you want to try the altered combat mode, use a separate save if the game allows it. If you have only one save or are unsure how the game handles separate saves, do not equip the Seal until you have decided that the reported trophy trade-off is acceptable. The warning text shown in your current game should take priority over assumptions based on a guide.
