To upgrade sidearms in Mortal Shell 2, recover the Obsidian Lathe from a chest in Martyr’s Tomb and return it to Franz. The Lathe unlocks the sidearm upgrade branch at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep; it is separate from the Muradean Actuator, which unlocks melee weapon upgrades.
How to unlock sidearm upgrades
- From Widow’s Overlook, travel southeast to Martyr’s Tomb.
- Explore the dungeon and loot the chest in its back room to collect the Obsidian Lathe.
- Return the Lathe to Franz at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep. This adds the sidearm upgrade branch.
This route is reported by community guides, while an item database also identifies the Obsidian Lathe as the sidearm-upgrade unlock. The available sources do not establish an official route or tie it to a particular current platform build. Where to upgrade sidearms
