For a low-backtracking route through Mortal Shell 2, start in southern Fainweald and use Mushroom Village as your anchor. Clear the eastern objective, then head north through Blackridge, cross south to the Outskirts of Nochte, and return the Ova to Marrow Keep. Using Mether’s Breath there opens the route to the Ruins of Mammon. This is a recommended order, not a mandatory sequence for every area or optional dungeon.

Leave Marrow Keep for Fainweald
Speak with available hub characters, make sure you have a Shell and a workable loadout, then use the northern roof launcher to reach Widow’s Overlook. From there, take the southern route into Fainweald.

Use Mushroom Village as your first anchor
Explore toward Mushroom Village and activate Beacons as you encounter them. The route guide describes this southern opening as the more forgiving start among the walkthroughs it reviewed. Beacons and revealed map sections help you keep your bearings as you work toward the next objective.

Complete the eastern Fainweald objective
Follow the corrupted-gate objective, clear what it requires, and recover the Ova. Return it to Marrow Keep when prompted or once the route’s objective is complete; the Ova handoff is part of the reported progression loop.

Go north through Blackridge
Return toward Widow’s Overlook and take the northern branch when you are ready to move on. Use nearby Beacons as route markers. If an optional branch is overwhelming, leave it for later rather than spending most of your recovery resources just to push through.

Cross south to the Outskirts of Nochte
From the Widow’s Overlook side, take the southern crossing into the Outskirts of Nochte and complete the regional objective. Follow its progression back toward Marrow Keep.

Return the Ova and open the Mammon route
Deposit the Ova at Marrow Keep, then use Mether’s Breath to clear the obstruction on the southern launcher. If the route is still blocked, check for an unfinished regional gate objective or Ova handoff before assuming you need to grind.

Continue into the Ruins of Mammon
Use Beacons as safe anchors and take branches that suit your build. Judge readiness by how comfortably you handle nearby ordinary enemies: if they use nearly all your healing, Resolve, or emergency resources, consider returning after an upgrade, a different Shell, or more familiarity with the route. The guide does not establish a fixed level requirement.

Save optional cleanup for before New Game Plus

What is fixed, and what can wait?
The suggested order connects the reported Ova and gate objectives with the route into Mammon; it does not make every side area mandatory. A separate independent walkthrough describes the broader campaign spine as six Corrupted Gates across Fainweald and Mammon, three branches in the Unfound Path, and then Zmey. Optional dungeons can be postponed when they are consuming too many recovery resources. Favor a detour when it offers a Beacon, a clear objective, or a safer chance to bank Gloom; otherwise, mark it and return when your build or route knowledge has improved. The reviewed walkthroughs do not establish a mandatory order for every optional branch.
