Short answer: The Hall of Murmurs is a compact dungeon inside Castigator’s Keep in the Mammon region. To reach it, clear enough corruption to activate Marrow Keep’s second jump pad, ride that pad to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, then follow the road through the guarded gate, bridge, and bone gate to the keep. Inside, the reported encounter includes brigands, coin pouches, a praying NPC, and a Laterite stone. Striking the praying NPC reportedly transforms him into a Foul Knight that drops Gloom.
The suspicious part is unresolved. A guide dated August 21, 2026 reports trying several possible triggers without finding an additional secret, but it did not check New Game Plus and acknowledged that an item could have been missed. Treat the Hall as an unconfirmed mystery, not a dungeon proven to be secret-free.
What the Hall of Murmurs is
The Hall of Murmurs is a named location within Castigator’s Keep, which sits in the Mammon region of Mortal Shell II. It is not presented as a separate overworld landmark with its own external beacon. The practical way to identify it is to enter the keep and look for a floor opening near the Grisha Hunter camp.

If you travel to Mammon without opening the relevant jump-pad route, the keep is effectively out of sequence: the required approach starts at Marrow Keep and ends at the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. The Hall itself is small, but reaching it involves several distinct landmarks that are easy to confuse on a first visit.

Prerequisite: open the route from Marrow Keep
The guide’s route requires enough Ova to cleanse the corruption blocking Marrow Keep’s second jump pad. The source does not give a fixed Ova quantity, so there is no reliable number to farm toward. The useful check is visual and functional: return to Marrow Keep and confirm that the corruption has been removed and the second pad can actually be used.
- Required progression: cleanse the corruption at Marrow Keep’s second jump pad.
- Required destination: use that pad to reach the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon.
- Navigation goal: from the beacon, reach Castigator’s Keep rather than stopping at the surrounding Mammon paths.
If the pad remains blocked, do not search the keep for another entrance. The reported route begins only after this obstruction has been cleared.

- Start at Marrow Keep. Find the second jump pad, the one blocked by corruption. Spend enough Ova to cleanse that corruption.
- Take the newly usable pad. It carries you to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. Activate the beacon when you arrive so the approach is easier to recover if you die.
- Leave the beacon toward the blasted gate. The gate is guarded by soldiers. This is the first major confirmation that you are on the keep approach rather than wandering through a different Mammon route.
- Cross the bridge. Continue beyond the soldiers and cross the bridge directly ahead on the reported path.
- Pass through the bone gate. The bone gate is the next distinctive transition. Once through it, stay on the main road instead of turning into side terrain.
- Follow the main road to Castigator’s Keep. The keep is the destination structure; the Hall is inside it, not beside the road or at the outer gate.
- Reach the keep beacon. On a first visit, use the inner gate if it is available. The guide also reports a cliffside path as an alternative first-visit approach when the inner route is not yet open.
- Enter the keep and use the far-right stairs. From the interior entrance, move to the stairs on the far-right side of the keep.
- Turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp. The camp is the final landmark. At that point, look for an opening in the floor; that opening is the entrance to the Hall of Murmurs.

| 6 | Use the inner gate, or the reported cliffside first-visit path | You are inside the keep approach |
| 7 | Take the far-right stairs, turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp, and drop through the floor opening | You have found the Hall of Murmurs entrance |
What is inside the Hall
The available guide account describes the interior as a short descent rather than a large maze. An elevator takes you down to a small canyon. That canyon contains brigands and a wooden shack, with the notable objects and encounter concentrated around the shack.
Elevator and canyon
After entering through the floor opening, take the elevator. The destination is a compact canyon populated by brigands. The wooden shack is the key visual anchor, so use it to orient yourself before checking the surrounding ground and fireplace.
Coin pouches
The guide reports coin pouches in the area. Their exact count and value are not stated, so treat them as environmental loot to collect while clearing the canyon rather than as a guaranteed total.
Laterite stone
A Laterite stone is reported beside a fireplace. Check the fireplace area after dealing with nearby enemies; the stone is easy to overlook if you focus only on the shack entrance.

The praying NPC
A non-hostile NPC is reported praying in the canyon. The guide says that striking this character changes the encounter: the NPC becomes a Foul Knight. Defeating the resulting enemy yields Gloom.
This interaction gives the Hall a clear optional combat choice. If you want to inspect the scene first, approach without attacking and note the NPC’s position. If you want the reported reward, make sure the strike is intentional rather than an accidental swing during a fight with the brigands. The available account does not establish whether the NPC has any peaceful dialogue, alternate reward, or additional state before being hit.
Should you hit the praying NPC?
For the reported combat reward, yes: striking the praying NPC is said to trigger the Foul Knight, and defeating that Foul Knight is said to award Gloom. For an unexplored-secret run, delay the attack until you have finished examining the shack, fireplace, canyon edges, and any interactable prompts. That preserves the opportunity to observe the encounter before changing it.

- Do not treat the transformation as proof of a larger secret. It is a documented encounter change, but the evidence does not establish another trigger after the Foul Knight is defeated.
The guide does not provide a confirmed difficulty rating, health total, or fixed Gloom amount for the Foul Knight, so those details should not be assumed from this route description.

Is there a secret in the Hall of Murmurs?
No additional secret has been confirmed, but the Hall has not been conclusively shown to be secret-free. The guide reports trying several ideas and seeing no result:
- Summoning Grishas with the Grisha Remnant.
- Using the Sheephead Totem.
- Using the Cursed Child’s scream.
- Searching while Night Mode was active.
- Following a blood trail.
- Leading brigands into the wooden shack.
Those are reported attempts by the guide’s author, not universal proof that every possible interaction fails. The same account says New Game Plus had not been checked and allows that an item might have been missed. A careful conclusion is therefore: the listed tests did not reveal a hidden mechanic in the tested situation, while an undiscovered interaction, item, or New Game Plus condition remains possible.
How to investigate without overstating the result
- Search the ordinary route first. Clear the canyon, inspect the shack, collect the coin pouches, and check the Laterite stone by the fireplace.
- Observe the NPC before attacking. Record whether a prompt, dialogue, animation, or response appears before the Foul Knight transformation.
- Test one variable at a time. If you use a Grisha Remnant, Sheephead Totem, Cursed Child’s scream, or Night Mode, perform the test in a repeatable location and note whether the state changes.
- Keep the blood-trail and brigand tests separate. A trail-following attempt and luring enemies into the shack can produce confusing movement, combat, or despawn behavior when combined.
- Check the post-Foul-Knight area. After the enemy is defeated, look again at the fireplace, shack, canyon walls, and floor for an item or prompt that was obscured during combat.
- Use New Game Plus as a separate case. The available report did not test it, so any NG+ result should be described as a different progression state rather than evidence about the standard run.
Until those conditions are independently checked, avoid guides or claims that state “there is no secret.” The strongest supported wording is that no secret was found during the reported attempts.

Troubleshooting the route
The second jump pad is still blocked
Return to Marrow Keep and verify that you have actually cleansed the corruption with enough Ova. The route does not begin from an alternative Mammon entrance in the available directions. If the pad cannot be activated, the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon will not be reachable by this method.

You reached Mammon but cannot find the keep
Use the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon as your reference point and retrace the landmark chain: blasted gate with soldiers, bridge, bone gate, then main road. Leaving the main road before the bone gate or after crossing the bridge is the most likely way to lose the approach.
You are inside Castigator’s Keep but cannot see the Hall
Reach the keep beacon, enter through the inner gate when possible, and take the stairs on the far-right side. The final turn is left at the Grisha Hunter camp. The entrance is a hole in the floor, not a conventional doorway at ground level.
The NPC did not become a Foul Knight
The transformation is reported as the result of hitting the praying NPC. Make sure the strike landed on that character rather than on a nearby brigand or environmental object. Because the account is a secondary report rather than a verified universal test, a different game state, patch, or missed hit could also explain a different result.
You are searching for a guaranteed secret trigger
There is no confirmed trigger to follow. The documented experiments produced no reported result, and the report leaves NG+ and a possible missed item unresolved. Treat additional testing as exploration, not as a required step for completing the dungeon.
What is worth collecting before you leave
- Pick up every reported coin pouch in the canyon.
- Inspect the fireplace for the Laterite stone.
- Decide whether to fight the Foul Knight for the reported Gloom.
- Search the shack and canyon again after combat, when enemy movement is no longer obscuring the area.
- Record whether any interaction behaves differently in your progression mode, especially if you are playing New Game Plus.
The available source does not establish a complete item list, total currency, exact Gloom quantity, or a guaranteed hidden reward. Leaving with those limits in mind prevents an unverified discovery from being mistaken for a confirmed dungeon objective.
Bottom line on the “most suspicious” dungeon
The Hall of Murmurs is straightforward to locate once the Marrow Keep jump-pad route is open: Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, blasted gate, bridge, bone gate, main road, Castigator’s Keep, far-right stairs, Grisha Hunter camp, and the floor opening. Its reported contents are a small canyon, brigands, a wooden shack, coin pouches, a Laterite stone, and a praying NPC whose attack-triggered Foul Knight encounter yields Gloom.
Its reputation for suspicion comes from uncertainty, not from a confirmed puzzle. The reported tests found no extra mechanic, but they did not cover New Game Plus and may have missed an item. Explore the encounter carefully, separate confirmed observations from your own tests, and describe the secret question as open rather than settled.
