Duality Tarstone is in the final chest in Ravaged Tomb, below Nocthean Gate Beacon. Reach it by taking the southeast elevator, releasing a movable pillar with a wall switch, and pushing the pillar onto a pressure plate. The documented compatible weapons are Axe and Dagger and Axatana; the stone adds strikes across light-combo attacks as it develops.
Where to find Duality Tarstone
Travel to Nocthean Gate Beacon and take the southeast elevator down to Ravaged Tomb. The item is in the tomb’s final chest, beneath a hanging body. The route and chest location are described by an independent guide updated September 26, 2026, and a community report also places the reward in the final chest (Gamepressure guide; Map Genie community report).
How to solve the Ravaged Tomb pressure-plate puzzle
- From Nocthean Gate Beacon, take the southeast elevator down and enter Ravaged Tomb.
- Find the wall switch beside the closed side gate and activate it to release the movable pillar.
- Push the pillar onto the floor pressure plate. The walkthrough’s intended solution uses the pillar’s weight, not the player standing on the plate.
- Go through the passage opened by the plate and search the final chamber’s chest beneath the hanging body. Check your Tarstone inventory before leaving.
The walkthrough describes a movable pillar, while another community page describes moving slabs. If the mechanism looks different in your installed version, use the in-game landmarks and the passage opened by the pressure puzzle rather than relying on a precise object description.

What Duality Tarstone does
The guide lists Axe and Dagger and Axatana as compatible weapons. Duality adds an extra strike to light-combo attacks, with development extending that added strike from the first light attack to later attacks and eventually the full light combo. Read the item description at each rank to confirm what the installed build currently grants.

Do not treat an extra visible hit as proof that every effect triggers twice. The available description does not establish that damage, critical rolls, status applications, Break events, or Resolve gain are duplicated. Verify those interactions in your own build before basing a setup on them.
How to upgrade Duality
An independent Tarforge guide identifies Etching Needles as the unlock for Tarstone ranks (Tarforge upgrade guide). Collect the needles, then check Duality’s rank and cost in the in-game Tarforge menu. A Duality-specific cost schedule is not established by the available guide.

Tarstone availability and progression have changed in Week 1 updates, including renewable Tarcores and the introduction of Fragile Tarstones, according to a patch tracker that summarizes and links to official notes. Because rollout and behavior can vary by game version, use the installed build and its linked update notes when evaluating older advice (patch tracker and update links).

When Duality fits a build
Duality is most relevant if you use one of its documented compatible weapons and depend on light-combo pressure. Its practical value depends on whether you can safely complete those attacks, how much animation commitment an encounter allows, and what defensive or utility benefit another Tarstone could provide in the same slot.

For a fair comparison, keep weapon level, Shell, infusion, target, other Tarstones, and game version constant. Compare the same light-combo step with and without Duality, then repeat at each rank. Record damage instances separately from Break movement and Resolve gain; an extra animation is not itself evidence of a particular damage or proc increase. This is a way to test the stone, not a published comparative ranking.
