Mononoke no Kuni is a forthcoming Steam action-adventure planned for 2027. The current official listing identifies Steam as the confirmed platform, marks the game as single-player, and says it is not yet available. Its announced design combines real-time combat, yokai purification, village restoration and caring for a puppy named Musashi.
Mononoke no Kuni at a glance
Mononoke no Kuni is an announced game from Lights-Interactive, published by Happinet. The official English site and the Steam store page both currently list 2027 as the planned release year. Steam identifies it as a single-player title and says the game is not yet available.

That is narrower than saying the game is coming to every major console or mobile device. Current official information does not confirm versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS or Android. Third-party platform records should not be treated as announcements unless Lights-Interactive or Happinet publishes a current confirmation.

Release date, availability and playtest access
The current release window is 2027
Both the current official site and Steam give 2027 as the planned release year. Neither source supplies a day or month, so a more precise launch date would be speculation. Treat 2027 as a target rather than a guaranteed appointment: the wording is a plan, and schedules can change before launch.
It is not currently playable as a full release
Steam says Mononoke no Kuni is not yet available. That means there is no released build that anyone can simply purchase and launch as the finished game at the time of the current listing.

A playtest request is not immediate access
The Steam page includes an option to request access to a playtest. Requesting access allows Steam to notify you if the developer opens participation; it does not promise entry, a specific testing date or instant download. Keep your expectations aligned with the wording of the store page.

An older date has been superseded
A Happinet announcement dated September 18, 2025 referred to an Autumn 2026 target. The newer official site and Steam listing now say 2027, so Autumn 2026 is historical information, not the current schedule.
Is Mononoke no Kuni single-player?
Yes. Steam’s feature list explicitly identifies Mononoke no Kuni as single-player. The announced experience is therefore centered on one player guiding Taiki through the world and caring for Musashi.
Single-player confirmation does not automatically answer questions about internet requirements, offline play, save synchronization or future co-op modes. The current listing does not establish those details. Likewise, there is no confirmed multiplayer or cooperative campaign to plan around.

Follow Taiki and Musashi through a world of myths
The official story follows Taiki and his puppy, Musashi, in a setting shaped by myths and yokai. The relationship with Musashi is part of the game’s premise rather than a cosmetic side note: the store description specifically says players care for the puppy during the adventure.

The official site’s short tagline is, “By your side, even beyond the edge of this world. Never to part.” It is presented as the site’s marketing line, not as a statement about a particular game system or a guarantee of an ending.
Fight with attacks, dodges, guards and parries
Steam describes action combat that includes charge attacks, dodging, guarding and parrying. These terms indicate a timing-focused system in which positioning and defense matter alongside attacking. The listing does not provide frame data, weapon statistics, enemy counts or a detailed control map, so those specifics should wait for later developer documentation or hands-on information.
Purify yokai with an ōnusa
Yokai purification is a central announced activity. Taiki uses an ōnusa, a ritual purification wand, as part of the process of dealing with supernatural threats. The store description presents purification as a distinct activity from ordinary combat, although it does not explain every step, resource or upgrade involved.

The adventure also includes village restoration. The listing does not yet spell out whether restoration is tied to a construction menu, quests, resource gathering or a linear story sequence. What is confirmed is the broader objective: actions in the world include helping villages recover rather than limiting the game to battles.

Care for Musashi
Musashi, Taiki’s puppy, is part of the player’s activities. Steam specifically mentions caring for Musashi, but the current store text does not define a detailed feeding, training or companion-stat system. It is safest to describe this as an announced care element, not as a fully documented simulation feature.
Choose the announced casual mode
Steam says a casual mode is available so players can enjoy the story and their adventure with Musashi at their own pace. The listing also describes combat as having no stamina gauge. Both points come from the publisher’s store description; they are not the result of an independent play test. The page does not explain which enemy damage values, timing windows or progression rules change in casual mode.
How demanding is the combat likely to be?
The announced mechanics suggest a system that rewards both offense and defense: charge attacks create openings for damage, while dodges, guards and parries provide different ways to respond to threats. The absence of a stamina gauge, as described by Steam, means the game is not presenting stamina management as a limiting combat resource. It does not mean attacks are unlimited in every practical sense; cooldowns, animations, enemy behavior and other rules have not been detailed.
Casual mode gives players an officially announced lower-pressure option, but no difficulty scale, accessibility menu or exact balance changes are published yet. Until those details appear, prospective players should view the mode as a broad accessibility choice rather than a promise of a particular challenge level.

Supported languages
Steam’s current language table lists 18 supported languages and separates interface text, full audio and subtitles. Japanese is the only language marked for all three categories. The other 17 languages listed by Steam are marked for interface and subtitles, but not full audio.
| Language category | Interface | Full audio | Subtitles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japanese | Supported | Supported | Supported |
| Other 17 languages in Steam’s table | Supported | Not marked as supported | Supported |
The official site presents a general list of 17 languages, while Steam supplies the more detailed current breakdown and the total of 18. Because the two pages organize the information differently, use Steam’s table when checking language availability for a purchase or playtest. “Supported” for interface or subtitles should not be read as dubbed audio.
Windows PC requirements
Steam lists the following requirements for the Windows version. They are store-page specifications, not an independent performance test, so meeting them does not guarantee a particular frame rate, resolution or graphics preset.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 | Steam does not list a separate recommended operating system. |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 | Intel Core i7-7700 |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB |
| Storage | 4 GB available space | 4 GB available space |
What to check before launch
- Confirm that the PC runs Windows 10 and that its processor is at least an Intel Core i5-8400-class part according to Steam’s minimum specification.
- Check the exact graphics card model and dedicated video memory; the minimum listing calls for a GTX 1650 with 4 GB, while the recommended listing calls for a GTX 1060 with 6 GB.
- Reserve at least 4 GB of free storage for the listed game requirement, with additional room if Steam, updates or save backups need it.
- Remember that these figures do not state a target resolution, frame rate, ray-tracing setting or loading performance.
Price, physical editions and accessories
No current price is published. The official site says MSRP information is coming soon, so there is no supported purchase figure to quote yet and no basis for calculating a regional launch price.
The current official and Steam pages do not identify a boxed edition, printed guide, official merchandise, collectible, game-specific controller or other required accessory. The confirmed product path is the announced Steam version. A future physical edition or merchandise line is possible in general, but no specific item or availability has been announced and it should not be treated as an existing product.
What is confirmed versus still open
- Confirmed: Steam is the platform named by the official site; the planned year is 2027; Steam marks the game single-player and not yet available; the announced activities include combat, yokai purification, village restoration and caring for Musashi; casual mode is listed; Windows requirements and language categories are published.
- Still open: an exact launch date, final price, console or mobile versions, multiplayer features, offline requirements, detailed controls, progression systems, the scope of village building, the depth of Musashi’s care mechanics and the final performance targets.
That distinction matters because Mononoke no Kuni is still in announcement and pre-release status. Describing unconfirmed systems as finished features would give a more definite picture than the current listings support.
How to keep track of changes
- Check the official Mononoke no Kuni site for platform, release-year and publisher announcements.
- Use the Steam store page for the current availability label, single-player tag, language table and Windows requirements.
- If you want to try a pre-release build, submit the Steam playtest access request and wait for a notification; do not assume the request guarantees entry.
- Recheck the listed release year and price before purchasing hardware, reserving time for launch or relying on older announcements.
For now, the practical conclusion is straightforward: Mononoke no Kuni is a forthcoming, single-player Steam game planned for 2027, with an action-adventure structure that combines yokai-themed combat and purification with village recovery and a companion-puppy relationship. Everything beyond those published fundamentals remains subject to later updates.
