No official PS5 file size has been confirmed. The PlayStation Store lists Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PS5 with an October 23, 2026 release date, but the listing reviewed on October 13 does not give a download or installation figure. That means claims that its PS5 size is “revealed” or that it is Call of Duty’s biggest PS5 install are not supported by the available official information.
What is confirmed about the PS5 file size?
The PS5 product page confirms the game and its release date, but it does not state how many gigabytes players will need to download or install. PlayStation also warns that mandatory updates may require additional storage, without specifying a free-space target. Check the PlayStation Store listing for any later update to the information.
Activision’s game page likewise lists PS5 as a platform and October 23, 2026 as the release date, but does not provide a PS5 install-size figure. The evidence available on October 13, 2026 therefore does not establish a specific number of gigabytes.
Is Modern Warfare 4 the biggest Call of Duty PS5 install?
That is not established either. Without an official PS5 size for Modern Warfare 4, there is no sound basis to rank it against other Call of Duty installations. A reliable comparison would also need to distinguish the initial download from the final installed footprint, required game files from optional content packs, and the launch build from later updates.

Why the reported 84.9 GB figure is not a PS5 answer
Nintendo Life reported an estimated 84.9 GB for the Nintendo Switch 2 Standard Edition, based on the Nintendo eShop listing. That is an estimate for a different platform, and the report notes it could change; it does not confirm the PS5 download or installed size.
Nintendo Life also reproduced a Gamescom statement from Call of Duty senior vice president and general manager Johanna Faries: “I believe we landed on 87 gigabytes for launch.” The statement concerns the Switch 2 version, not the PS5 version, and should not be presented as a PS5 specification.

What PS5 owners should know before launch
- Keep some storage available. PlayStation says mandatory updates may require additional space but does not specify how much. The store page does not show that a particular expansion drive or capacity is required.
- Recheck the listing near release. The PlayStation Store page may add platform-specific storage details closer to the October 23, 2026 launch.
- Do not treat another platform’s number as a PS5 requirement. Storefront estimates and installed footprints can refer to different packages and should only be compared when the platform and measurement are clear.
Other PS5 release details
The PlayStation Store describes a campaign set across Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai, multiplayer with grounded combat, and a DMZ extraction mode. It lists Standard and Vault editions, and says qualifying digital pre-orders include campaign early access beginning October 16, 2026. The listed general release date is October 23, 2026.
The same store page says online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus, sold separately, and notes that a mobile phone number linked to an Activision account may be required. These are storefront details and can change, so verify them on the listing before purchase.

Activision lists Infinity Ward as the studio and names Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, PS5, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 among the platforms. Platform availability does not imply identical download sizes; no PS5-specific size is stated on the page.
