The Modern Warfare 4 beta required Windows 10 64-bit, 12 GB of RAM, and at least an RX 470, GTX 970/1060, or Intel Arc A580 at its minimum tier. Activision published those beta-specific specifications on August 19, 2026. The recommended beta tier called for Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, and an RX 6700 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, or Intel Arc B580. Both beta weekends have ended, so these figures describe what the beta required—not a way to join it now.
Modern Warfare 4 beta PC requirements
Activision’s August 19, 2026 announcement listed these specifications for the beta. The minimum tier is the stated baseline to run it; the recommended tier is a higher hardware target, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate.
| Component | Minimum beta requirements | Recommended beta requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit, latest update | Windows 11 64-bit, latest update |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700 |
| RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | AMD Radeon RX 470; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or GTX 1060; or Intel Arc A580 | AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti; or Intel Arc B580 |
| Video memory | 3 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage | SSD required; capacity not stated by Activision | SSD required; capacity not stated by Activision |
| Other | Broadband internet, DirectX-compatible sound, and a DirectX 12-compatible system | Broadband internet, DirectX-compatible sound, and a DirectX 12-compatible system |
Activision’s beta announcement also listed NVIDIA driver 610.47, AMD driver 26.7.1, and Intel driver 32.0.101.8861 as recommended for the beta. These are dated beta recommendations, not a current driver list. See the August 19 beta announcement for the original beta information.
Beta requirements are not the full-game requirements
Activision explicitly cautioned that beta specifications might differ from the full game’s requirements. Its October 1, 2026 support page lists a different minimum CPU and RAM amount, changes the recommended AMD graphics card, and specifies storage capacity. Keep the lists separate when checking a PC.

The 90 FPS figure is Activision’s stated target for the launch recommended tier, not a performance guarantee across every PC. The full-game support page also lists an ultra ray-tracing tier for 4K upscaled: Windows 11 64-bit, Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K, 32 GB RAM, RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti, 16 GB video memory, and an SSD with 115 GB available. Consult Activision’s full-game PC requirements for launch-tier details; Activision says requirements may be updated and mandatory updates can need additional storage.
Security and compatibility checks
- TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot: Both are required to play online, according to Activision’s beta announcement and current launch support information.
- Intel Arc graphics: Resizable BAR is required for Intel Arc GPUs.
- Processor support: Activision supports Intel and AMD processors with AVX.
- Laptops: The published launch specifications refer to desktop PCs. Laptop GPUs with similar names can be different models and may not be supported; verify the exact laptop GPU model rather than assuming it matches a desktop card.
- Internet and graphics compatibility: The specifications call for broadband internet and a DirectX 12-compatible system.
- Launch storage: The full game calls for 115 GB available on an SSD at launch. Updates may require more free space.
How to use the beta specs to check your PC
- Identify your hardware. In Windows, open Settings > System > About to check the processor and installed RAM. Check the graphics card in Task Manager > Performance > GPU, or Device Manager > Display adapters.
- Compare each component with the beta table. Look for the exact CPU and GPU model, and check RAM and video memory separately. Meeting one row does not compensate for falling below another listed component.
- Check the security requirements. Confirm TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are enabled in your system firmware settings. The names and locations of these controls vary by PC manufacturer.
- Check the drive and available space for the version you mean. The beta announcement required an SSD but gave no capacity. The full-game launch page specified 115 GB available on an SSD, with possible additional space for updates.
- Use the launch list for the full game. If deciding whether a PC meets the full-game baseline, use the October 1 launch specifications rather than carrying over the beta’s 12 GB RAM minimum or RX 6700 XT recommendation.
The beta is over
Activision scheduled Early Access from 11:00 a.m. PT on August 21 through 10:00 a.m. PT on August 25, 2026, and the open beta from 10:00 a.m. PT on August 28 through 10:00 a.m. PT on September 1. The open beta was available to all players during its window without a preorder or beta code. On PC, downloads were described for Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox on PC. Those dates have passed; the specs above are useful for understanding the beta requirements, while the full-game support page is the relevant list for the released game. The September 29 PC update covers the game’s PC launch information.
