The best phone camera lens depends on the shot you want, not a universal ranking. A macro lens is for close-ups, telephoto narrows the view, wide-angle fits more into the frame, anamorphic creates a cinematic presentation, and fisheye produces a deliberately curved look. Before buying any clip-on phone lens, check that it aligns with your exact phone camera and clears your case; your phone’s built-in cameras may already do the job.
Which mobile camera lens suits the shot?

A telephoto add-on is intended to narrow the view or provide magnification. Compare its intended camera and mount with your phone’s built-in telephoto options. An add-on is not automatically sharper or better than the optics already in your phone.

Wide-angle: for more of the scene
A wide-angle lens can optically widen the view. SANDMARC describes its wide lens this way, but zooming in further after using it is digital zoom, not additional optical reach. If your phone already has an ultrawide camera, check whether it delivers the framing you need before adding another lens.
Anamorphic: for a cinematic presentation
Anamorphic lenses are aimed at a deliberately cinematic wide presentation and are most relevant to people capturing video. Their fit and image-processing workflow depend on the specific lens. Fisheye: for a stylized curved image
A fisheye lens creates a very wide, visibly curved look rather than natural perspective. Consider it as a creative effect, not a general-purpose way to improve everyday photos. Confirm the exact product’s phone fit and specifications because those details are model-specific.
Will a clip-on phone lens fit your phone?
Do not rely on a lens name alone to establish compatibility. Phone camera layouts and positions vary, and the lens has to align with the camera you intend to use. Check the exact phone model, the intended camera module, and the mounting arrangement listed for the specific lens.

Check the mount and case clearance
Find out whether the lens attaches by clip or requires a compatible lens case. SANDMARC says its lenses work best with its case mounts and warns that using a case with its clip mount leaves space between the lens and camera that is bad for optics. Depending on the product, you may need to remove your case or use a compatible mount.
Check how the phone behaves with the lens attached
With an external lens mounted, switching between phone cameras may cause blackouts, according to SANDMARC support. Check which camera the lens is designed to cover and whether your normal camera-switching habits will work with that setup.

Account for the extra handling
An add-on means attaching and aligning another piece of equipment, then removing and storing it when you are done. Review how the specific mount works and decide whether that extra step suits the way you take photos or video.
How to choose the right type
- Name the shot first. Choose close-ups for macro, a tighter view for telephoto, more scene coverage for wide-angle, a cinematic video presentation for anamorphic, or a curved creative effect for fisheye.
- Compare with your phone’s built-in cameras. Check its macro, telephoto, and ultrawide options where relevant. An add-on is not automatically an upgrade.
