Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Spain-based Ingeteam announced a strategic memorandum of understanding on October 15, 2026, covering sales, technology development and technical cooperation for energy infrastructure serving U.S. data centers. The plan combines MHI’s power, cooling, energy-management and integration services with Ingeteam’s generators, power electronics, controls and digital systems.
The announcement is an MOU, not a disclosed construction contract, equipment order or customer deployment schedule. Its immediate purpose is to create a route for Ingeteam equipment and software to reach U.S. data-center operators through MHI Group while both companies assess deeper technical integration.
What MHI and Ingeteam announced
The companies intend to distribute Ingeteam power-conversion equipment and related software in the U.S. data-center market through MHI Group. They will also explore incorporating selected Ingeteam technologies into MHI’s energy-infrastructure solutions and evaluate additional cooperation in medium-voltage distribution and energy-management systems for high-density computing.

Why AI data centers need better power quality
AI servers produce much denser electrical loads than many traditional computing environments, and their demand can change sharply as workloads shift. Rapidly changing loads can stress electrical systems even when a site has enough total generation capacity.
MHI’s announcement specifically identifies harmonics and voltage imbalance as risks. Harmonics are waveform distortions created by power-electronic equipment; excessive levels can increase heat, losses and interference. Voltage imbalance means the phases of a three-phase system are not evenly supplied, which can reduce equipment life and destabilize sensitive systems. Managing both is part of keeping high-density computing online and preserving the useful life of electrical infrastructure.

Shin Gomi, MHI’s senior general manager for Data Center & Energy Management, summarized the objective in the release: “What is required in the AI era is not simply securing power, but stably supplying high-quality, reliable power.” The companies describe faster power introduction, reliable and efficient operation, power-quality management, grid stabilization and room to expand with AI capacity as goals of the cooperation.

The practical value is the coordination between these layers. Batteries, generators and converters can respond to changing demand, while EMS/SCADA software provides operational visibility and control. MHI’s North American Concentric service network is intended to support engineering, deployment and ongoing critical-power service.

How each company fits the plan
MHI’s role
MHI supplies the system-level offering: power, cooling, energy management and infrastructure integration. Its stated aim is a one-stop approach in which a data-center customer can address several infrastructure disciplines through one delivery and service organization.
Ingeteam’s role
Ingeteam contributes power-conversion equipment, generators, control and automation systems, digital technologies, battery-storage capabilities and expertise in power systems. Ingeteam CEO Adolfo Rebollo said the arrangement would let the company bring its power-electronics and grid knowledge to the U.S. data-center market alongside MHI’s system-engineering capabilities.

Is this a signed contract, and when do deployments begin?
The October 15 announcement describes a strategic MOU. It does not identify a named customer, disclose an equipment purchase or announce a construction project. No deployment start date, pricing, exclusivity provision, revenue target, guaranteed efficiency improvement or reliability guarantee was published.

That means the partnership establishes an intended commercial and technical path, but it does not yet prove field performance. Claims about improved uptime, efficiency, deployment speed or grid services should be treated as objectives until the companies announce a product release, customer project or contract with measured results.

The Dallas base, Concentric’s critical-power services and the Modius integration indicate that Ingeteam’s equipment is being positioned within a broader MHI architecture rather than offered as an isolated hardware sale. The intended route to market is through MHI Group, with further evaluation of medium-voltage and energy-management integration.
What to watch next
- A named U.S. data-center customer or project using the combined solution.
- Product announcements identifying which Ingeteam converters, generators, batteries or software are being distributed.
- Technical details on medium-voltage distribution, EMS/SCADA interoperability and power-quality measurements.
- Deployment schedules, service responsibilities and evidence from operating sites.
- Performance figures covering efficiency, voltage regulation, harmonic reduction, grid support or expansion capacity.
Until those details appear, the significance of the announcement is strategic: it aligns a large system integrator with a power-electronics specialist at a time when AI is making data-center electrical loads denser and more variable.
