Mistfall Hunter is a PvPvE extraction action RPG, not a conventional single-player adventure: you enter a dangerous map to gather loot, battle corrupted creatures and rival hunters, then try to escape with what you found. Death costs you the spoils you are carrying. That high-stakes loop, paired with melee combat and class builds, gives the game a clear hook—but the available critical coverage also flags a demanding learning curve, interface frustrations, and familiar influences.
What kind of game is Mistfall Hunter?
The PlayStation Store describes Mistfall Hunter as a third-person PvPvE extraction ARPG. Each run puts players against both AI-controlled corrupted creatures and other hunters as they loot and work toward extraction. The central decision is whether to keep searching for more or leave with what you have already secured; dying strips away carried spoils. Sony’s PlayStation Store listing also describes solo play and squads of up to three.
This is therefore not structured like a story-first action RPG in which most progress comes from safely clearing a campaign. Its identity depends on the uncertainty of each run: other players can interrupt a plan, and a failed escape can turn a productive outing into a loss.
How does combat and character building work?
The PlayStation listing presents six classes, each with two weapon stances, plus talent trees, skills, and gear customization. The official Steam page describes melee combat, tactical items, free-aim targeting, and class and stance customization. These are the developers’ descriptions of the systems; they establish the intended ingredients, not how balanced or deep they feel in extended play.

Available coverage suggests that positioning and aiming matter. In a June 2026 preview of a demo build, PC Gamer described deliberate, forward-moving attacks and combat without a lock-on system. The preview writer liked the class abilities and skill-tree progression, but found early combat relatively simple and said it was too soon to judge its later complexity. Is Mistfall Hunter worth playing on PS5?
It looks most promising for players who enjoy learning a PvPvE game through risk, positioning, and build choices—and who accept that a run can end with lost carried loot. GamesRadar+’s review calls the extraction loop tense and engaging, but argues that the game struggles to distinguish itself from its influences. The reviewer also found the lack of lock-on frustrating and criticized the interface. Those are that reviewer’s judgments, not universal outcomes, but they point to the main questions a prospective player should weigh: whether free-aim melee feels rewarding to learn, and whether the extraction tension outweighs interface friction and a less original overall feel. Bellring Games has said that direct kills are not the only route to success and that it aims to preserve different class and archetype identities rather than make every head-to-head matchup perfectly balanced. Can you play Mistfall Hunter solo?
Yes. Sony’s store listing presents solo play as an option alongside squads of up to three players. Solo availability does not make the game a single-player campaign: the game is still described as PvPvE extraction, with rival hunters and carried loot at stake. Players who prefer company can form a squad, while those entering alone should expect the same extraction premise without a full team beside them.

Does Mistfall Hunter have crossplay or cross-progression?
Bellring Games’ FAQ confirms cross-platform matchmaking and support for PS5 and Xbox controllers. The reviewed official material does not confirm cross-progression, so do not assume that a character or its progress transfers between platforms. Bellring Games’ FAQ
There is also a region-specific compatibility issue for PS5 buyers. The US PlayStation Store listing says versions sold in the US, Canada, and Mexico connect to a North American server, while versions sold elsewhere connect to an international server. It says those versions do not share game data, servers, or online matchmaking. If you plan to play with friends who buy in a different region, check the purchase-region version before buying. What does Mistfall Hunter cost on PS5?
Prices and availability can change by region and over time, so check your local PlayStation Store listing for the current amount. Bellring Games’ launch FAQ listed the Standard Edition at US$24.99 and the Deluxe Edition at US$39.99, with a US$15 upgrade. The FAQ described the Deluxe package as including cosmetic rewards and, on Steam, 2,500 Fate Coins; it said Fate Coins are for in-game cosmetics. The available sources do not establish the PS5 version’s frame rate, resolution, or stability in play. The PlayStation listing confirms a PS5 release, but a performance verdict would require hands-on testing or a credible technical analysis. PC impressions—especially those from a pre-release demo—cannot answer how the PS5 build performs.

PS5 release and rating snapshot
The US PlayStation Store listing gives July 30, 2026 as the PS5 release date. The Steam product page lists July 29, 2026 for PC; the dates differ by platform.
