NASA’s SpaceX CRS-35 mission is scheduled to launch cargo to the International Space Station at 6:33 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. The Dragon spacecraft is targeted to dock around 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, Oct. 15. NASA’s schedule is a target, not confirmation of liftoff; the mission is a cargo delivery, not a crewed launch.
The more than 6,300 pounds of cargo include lab-grown brain-tissue models, artificial-retina manufacturing materials, heart-tissue models, glass research materials and the final set of the station’s roll-out solar arrays.
What is NASA sending to the ISS today?
CRS-35 is SpaceX’s 35th commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station. NASA’s Oct. 7 advisory set a 6:33 a.m. EDT launch target from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. If the schedule holds, Dragon will autonomously dock at the space-facing port of the station’s Harmony module around 11 a.m. EDT on Oct. 15.
NASA describes the cargo load as more than 6,300 pounds. The mission combines experiments intended to advance health and materials research with operational hardware for the station. Its “mini brains” are small, lab-grown models of human brain tissue—not miniature functioning brains.

Because the launch and docking times are operational targets, check NASA’s CRS-35 mission page for updates before treating either event as completed.
What are the “mini brains” for?
The brain organoids are three-dimensional models of human brain tissue. NASA Science says they will spend five weeks in orbit and be compared with identical models kept on Earth. The study is designed to examine how short-duration spaceflight affects the brain at the cellular level.

- 1:200 scale 38 super-detailed parts Molded in white Display stand with Artemis logo Clear instructions Decal feature full Artemis II SLS markings Mission sticker Full-color guide to accurately paint the model Built size: approximately 191 inches tall Inspiring original kit box artwork Skill level 2, Ages 10+
NASA says the work may help researchers understand how the brain responds to stress and inform efforts to address brain-health risks on future lunar and other exploration missions. The organoids could also help identify treatment targets for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. These are research aims: the planned study is not a treatment, a clinical result or proof that a new therapy works.
NASA’s Oct. 7 advisory describes the cargo as including “brain organoids that could reveal treatment targets for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis.”

What else is aboard CRS-35?
| Payload | Purpose | What it does—and does not—mean |
|---|---|---|
| Artificial-retina materials and hardware | Support research into manufacturing artificial retinas in microgravity. | The work could contribute to efforts to restore vision on Earth; it is not an available therapy. |
| 3D heart-tissue models | Advance research into large-scale drug testing on future missions. | They are a research platform, not a validated replacement for clinical trials. |
| Glass-study materials | Let researchers study how a new type of glass forms in microgravity. | NASA’s advisory does not name the glass type or report a result. |
| Final set of ISS Roll-Out Solar Arrays (IROSA) | Provide hardware for the station’s power augmentation. | Astronauts are expected to install the arrays during future spacewalks; they are delivered on this mission, not installed as part of Dragon’s arrival. |
NASA’s Oct. 7 mission advisory lists the research cargo and solar arrays. Its Sep. 17 advisory explains that the final IROSA set is intended to complete the station’s power augmentation and will be installed later during spacewalks.
How to understand the mission’s significance
CRS-35 is notable for carrying several different kinds of work at once: human-health research, materials research and station infrastructure. The experiments are planned investigations, not announced discoveries. In particular, the medical payloads should be understood as early research platforms whose findings, if useful, would need further study before supporting claims about patient care.

The solar arrays are different from the experimental tissue models: they are station hardware with a future installation role. NASA’s Sep. 17 advisory notes that people have lived continuously aboard the ISS for more than 25 years; that is general station context, not a result of CRS-35.
