The best mini Bluetooth speaker depends on how you’ll carry and use it. The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4 is a strong all-around choice if you can accept a slightly larger body; the Sony SRS-XB100 prioritizes long battery life and a microphone, while the Anker Soundcore Select 4 Go is the lower-cost option. Choose the JBL Clip 5 to attach a speaker to gear, or the JBL Go 5 when pocket size is the priority.
These are five use-case picks, not a claim that one speaker is best for everyone. RTINGS’ 2026 small-speaker guide says it has bought and tested 204 speakers; the performance descriptions and battery figures below are attributed to that guide, while JBL’s runtime figures come from its specification sheets. Those different figures are not directly comparable lab measurements.
Which mini Bluetooth speaker fits your use?
| Speaker | Best fit | Useful distinguishing points | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4 | All-around use and sharing sound around a table | 360-degree presentation; balanced midrange; IP67; floats; impact-resistant; built-in hook; more than 13 hours of battery life in RTINGS’ 2026 guide | Larger than some pocket speakers |
| Sony SRS-XB100 | Long battery life, a microphone, and a detachable strap | 360-degree design; IP67; more than 20 hours of battery life in RTINGS’ 2026 guide | High-bass emphasis can muddy voices; stereo is downmixed to mono |
| Anker Soundcore Select 4 Go | Lower-cost compact listening | Carrying hook; IP67; app EQ; balanced sound; around 10 hours of battery life in RTINGS’ 2026 guide | No microphone; less battery life than the Sony; limited deep bass |
| JBL Clip 5 | Clipping a speaker to a bag or other gear | Integrated carabiner; IP67; 285 g; JBL states up to 12 hours, plus up to 3 hours with Playtime Boost | Manufacturer runtime varies with volume and content |
| JBL Go 5 | A small, pocketable speaker with a higher stated protection rating | 101 × 77.4 × 43 mm; 0.23 kg; IP68; Bluetooth 6.0; JBL states up to 8 hours, plus up to 2 hours with Playtime Boost | Shorter battery life than the Anker in RTINGS’ guide; runtime can vary with use and ambient-light themes |
RTINGS’ test-guide battery results are from its 2026 category guide; JBL’s Clip 5 and Go 5 figures are manufacturer estimates from its 2024 and 2026 specification sheets, respectively. The estimates use different sources and conditions, so treat them as guidance rather than a head-to-head runtime ranking. For an all-around speaker: Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4
RTINGS names the WONDERBOOM 4 its best small Bluetooth speaker in the 2026 guide. Its 360-degree sound is useful when people are gathered around a table rather than facing one speaker, and RTINGS describes its midrange as balanced. The guide also reports more than 13 hours of battery life and notes IP67 dust and water resistance, flotation, impact resistance, and a built-in hook. The trade-off is size: it is not as pocketable as the smallest options.

For longer battery life and calls: Sony SRS-XB100
RTINGS’ budget pick has a 360-degree design, an IP67 rating, a detachable strap, and a built-in microphone. Its 2026 guide reports more than 20 hours of battery life. Sony emphasizes high bass, which can give music extra warmth, but RTINGS notes that voices may sound muddy. The speaker also downmixes stereo to mono, so it is not the choice for preserving left-right separation.
For spending less: Anker Soundcore Select 4 Go
RTINGS identifies the Select 4 Go as its cheap pick, describing balanced sound, an app EQ, a carrying hook, IP67 protection, and around 10 hours of battery life in its 2026 guide. The guide reported sale availability as low as $20; that is a source-reported price observation, not a current quote. It has no microphone, offers less battery life than the Sony, and cannot produce deep bass.

JBL says two Clip 5 units can be paired for stereo and compatible JBL speakers can be linked through Auracast. The manufacturer says battery life depends on volume and content. What matters most in a mini speaker
Carry method and size
Think about how the speaker will travel before choosing by sound or battery alone. The Clip 5 has an integrated carabiner; the Sony has a detachable strap; the WONDERBOOM 4 and Anker have hooks. If you want the smallest body here, compare the Go 5’s listed dimensions with the larger models rather than assuming every “mini” speaker will fit the same pocket.
Sound coverage, voices, and bass
A 360-degree presentation can help distribute sound around a table. Tiny speakers generally trade some deep bass and maximum loudness for portability and price, as RTINGS notes in its 2026 guide. The Sony’s extra high bass may suit bass-forward listening, but it is a less natural match if clear voices matter most. RTINGS describes the WONDERBOOM 4 as more balanced through the midrange. None of those points means a small speaker can reproduce the depth or output of a larger model.
Rank #4

Battery claims in context
RTINGS reports more than 20 hours for the Sony, more than 13 for the WONDERBOOM 4, and around 10 for the Anker in its 2026 guide. JBL’s stated estimates are up to 12 hours plus 3 with Playtime Boost for the Clip 5, and up to 8 hours plus 2 with Playtime Boost for the Go 5. Treat the JBL numbers as manufacturer estimates, and do not assume they match RTINGS’ testing conditions. Volume, content, and—in the Go 5’s case—ambient-light themes affect runtime.
Water and dust ratings are not flotation claims
The five picks are described as IP67 or IP68 rated, but a protection rating does not mean every speaker floats. The WONDERBOOM 4 is specifically described as floating in RTINGS’ guide. For any model, follow its manufacturer’s care instructions; do not infer flotation or unrestricted water use from an IP rating alone.

A notable alternative: Bose SoundLink Micro Gen 2
The Bose SoundLink Micro Gen 2 is worth considering if you want a compact speaker with a fabric strap. TechRadar’s March 2026 review lists Bluetooth 5.4, IP67 protection, a 0.3 kg weight, dimensions of 43 × 104 × 104 mm, and 12 hours of battery life. The review lists its full price at $129, £119.95, or AU$179.95 at the time of publication; those are historical figures, not current offers. TechRadar judged its value weakened by its price relative to rivals. In a later blind comparison, the author reported that the Bose won against the JBL Go 5; that is one outlet author’s listening result, not an objective consensus. Quick Recap
Before you buy
- Choose the carry feature that matches your routine: pocket, strap, hook, or carabiner.

- Compare battery figures only with their source and conditions in mind; manufacturer estimates and independent guide results are not automatically equivalent.
- Check current regional listings before purchase. The cited historical launch prices and sale observation are not live price quotes.
