Prefer not to run the server on your own PC? Godlike.Host offers hosted Minecraft Java servers with free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day.
In India, a Minecraft server can cost anywhere from ₹39 a month for a small Java world to ₹2,399 a month for a high-memory Bedrock plan. The right price depends on RAM, CPU allocation, player load, edition, mod support, backups and how much server administration you want to do yourself.
For a few friends running vanilla Minecraft, begin with a 2GB–4GB managed plan. Plugins and light modpacks generally justify 6GB–10GB. Established communities should compare 8GB–16GB plans and CPU guarantees, while technical users can choose a VPS for more control. Treat advertised player counts as estimates, and verify taxes, renewal pricing, refunds and uptime terms at checkout.

Published Minecraft hosting prices in India
The following prices were advertised or listed by providers in October 2026. They are monthly figures unless the table says otherwise. Storage, backups, CPU policy and support can differ substantially even when two plans have the same RAM.
| Provider and option | Advertised price | RAM | Storage | Edition or software information | Other stated features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VisiHost Java plans | ₹39–₹869 per month across six plans | 2GB–32GB | NVMe | Java | Plan-by-plan CPU, backups, panel, support and player estimates are not stated in the supplied pricing information. |
| Soft Host India plans | ₹59, ₹139, ₹199, ₹259 and ₹319 per month | 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB and 10GB | SSD | Not stated for every tier in the cited budget table | Backups are listed; CPU allocation, support hours and player estimates are not stated in the supplied table. |
| URLStart India Minecraft VPS | From ₹584 per month on annual pricing | Not stated in the supplied price note | NVMe SSD | Java and Bedrock; Paper, Spigot, Forge and Fabric support are listed | DDoS shield; VPS administration is required. Monthly non-annual price, backups, panel and refund terms are not stated. |
| Endercloud plans | ₹799–₹2,399 per month | 8GB, 10GB, 12GB, 16GB, 20GB and 24GB | Not stated in the supplied pricing note | The 24GB listing is a Bedrock plan; edition for each other tier is not stated | CPU, backups, panel, support and player estimates are not stated in the supplied pricing note. |
These advertised figures are useful for budgeting, not a guarantee of performance. The reviewed pages do not provide a consistent record of taxes, renewal prices, refund rules or uptime guarantees, so those terms must be checked for the exact plan and billing period before payment.

Managed hosting or a VPS: which is cheaper for you?
Managed Minecraft hosting
A managed plan is the simplest route for most communities. It normally includes a web game panel, one-click or guided server installation, file management, scheduled tasks, automated setup and some form of backup. DDoS protection is commonly bundled. You pay the provider to maintain the operating environment, so you can spend time configuring the world, permissions and plugins rather than patching Linux.
The trade-off is control. You may be limited to the Java versions, mod loaders, server properties and resource limits exposed by the panel. Shared CPU can also create slowdowns when neighbouring customers are busy. Ask whether the advertised RAM is dedicated to your instance, how CPU shares are enforced and whether backups are stored on a separate system.

Virtual private server
A VPS gives you operating-system-level access. You can install the exact Java runtime, Paper, Spigot, Forge, Fabric or Bedrock software you need, run additional services and tune the firewall and startup scripts. URLStart lists an India Minecraft VPS from ₹584 per month when billed annually, with Java and Bedrock support, NVMe SSD storage and a DDoS shield.
That price is not the total cost of ownership for a beginner. You must secure the operating system, create users, install Java or the Bedrock server, configure the service to restart, schedule off-site backups, monitor disk usage and troubleshoot crashes. A VPS is often cheaper per unit of compute for a technically confident administrator, but managed hosting can be cheaper in time and risk.

How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?
RAM is the clearest sizing axis shown in the published plans, but it is not the only performance limit. World size, simulation distance, entity counts, redstone activity, plugins, mods, Java version and CPU speed all affect tick time. A server that has free memory can still lag if its CPU allocation is constrained.
2GB–4GB: small vanilla groups
Use this range for a small private Java world with a few concurrent players, ordinary render and simulation settings and no heavy modpack. Start at the lower end only when you can reduce view distance and keep automatic backups from consuming the entire disk. The 2GB and 4GB entries in the published tables are sensible starting points, not capacity promises.
6GB–10GB: plugins and light modpacks
Plugins, multiple worlds, map tools and light modpacks increase the heap and disk activity required during startup and play. Compare the 6GB–10GB tiers, then check whether CPU is shared and whether the host permits a modern Java runtime. Leave headroom for peaks rather than assigning every megabyte to the Java process; the operating system, panel and file cache also need memory.
8GB–16GB: established communities
For a public server with several worlds, moderation plugins, scheduled tasks or a growing concurrent population, compare 8GB–16GB plans. At this level, a dedicated or clearly defined CPU allocation, fast storage, backup retention and responsive support often matter more than another small RAM step. Request migration assistance if you are moving an existing world and verify that the host can restore a backup without wiping current data.

20GB–24GB: large or Bedrock-focused deployments
High-memory plans are appropriate only when the workload justifies them. Endercloud lists 20GB at ₹1,999 and a 24GB Bedrock plan at ₹2,399 per month. Validate concurrent-player performance with the provider before committing: a large memory number does not establish the CPU capacity, software configuration or network quality needed for a busy community.
Provider player-capacity figures, where shown on a sales page, are marketing estimates. Measure actual tick health after launch with your chosen world, view distance and mod set, and be prepared to move up a tier or optimize the workload.
Why an India location affects latency
Physical distance limits how quickly packets can travel. Soft Host’s July 2026 comparison guide puts it plainly: “Ping is decided by physics, not by how expensive the plan is.” A server physically located in India generally gives Indian players a shorter network path than one in Europe or North America, although the result still depends on each player’s city, ISP routing, congestion and Wi-Fi.
Ask the provider for the actual datacenter city, a test IP or looking-glass address and the route you should expect from your players’ regions. Do not infer location from rupee billing or an India-facing website. A nearby site can reduce baseline latency, but it cannot fix a poor last-mile connection or overloaded host node.

Soft Host’s provider guidance describes an India host as one with servers physically in India, modern CPUs, SSD storage, always-on DDoS protection, a full control panel and rupee pricing: https://www.softhost.in/best-minecraft-hosting-india. Treat that as a selection checklist, then confirm each item for the specific plan.

Java and Bedrock are different server ecosystems. Confirm which edition your community uses, whether cross-play is genuinely supported or requires a proxy, and whether the host offers the exact Minecraft version you intend to run. A Java plan is not automatically suitable for Bedrock clients.
URLStart’s listing names Java, Bedrock, Paper, Spigot, Forge and Fabric support. Those labels do not mean every combination is available on every tier, so ask which versions are installable through the panel, whether custom server jars are allowed and whether switching loaders later changes the backup or migration process.
- Paper or Spigot: suitable when your priority is a plugin-based Java server and performance tuning.
- Forge or Fabric: required by different mod ecosystems; verify mod and loader version compatibility before uploading a pack.
- Bedrock: confirm the listed plan is specifically Bedrock and check whether scheduled backups and world conversion tools support your format.
What to compare beyond the monthly price
| Comparison axis | Questions to ask the host | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Is the vCPU dedicated, pinned or shared? What processor generation and clock policy apply? | Minecraft’s main tick loop is sensitive to single-thread performance and contention. |
| RAM | Is the advertised amount usable by Java, or does it include the panel and operating system? | Usable heap can be lower than the headline number. |
| Storage | Is it NVMe or SSD? Is there a disk quota, I/O limit or snapshot charge? | Chunk generation, loading and backups create storage I/O. |
| Backups | How often are they made, how long are they retained, where are they stored and what is the restore process? | A backup on the same failing node is not a complete disaster-recovery plan. |
| DDoS protection | Is mitigation always on, and are there traffic limits or extra charges? | Protection can determine whether a public server stays reachable during an attack. |
| Panel | Can you change jars, Java versions, startup flags, scheduled tasks and permissions? | A polished panel reduces administration time but may restrict advanced control. |
| Support | What hours, response targets and escalation path apply? Is migration assistance included? | Fast help matters when a world fails before an event. |
| Commercial terms | What is the renewal price, tax treatment, minimum term, cancellation process and refund policy? | The introductory monthly figure may not be the recurring cost. |
Practical choices by server type
Private vanilla world
Compare 2GB–4GB managed plans first. Prioritize a nearby datacenter, automatic backups and a panel that lets you invite operators without giving them full account access. Confirm CPU sharing and the number of backup restore points before paying.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Plugin server or light modpack
Compare 6GB–10GB tiers and test the exact plugin or mod list during the refund window, if one exists. Check Java version controls, startup flags, disk quota and whether the host supports your loader without a manual support ticket.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesGrowing public community
Compare 8GB–16GB offers on CPU allocation, backup retention, DDoS response, support and migration policy rather than RAM alone. Ask for a staged move: upload a copy, test permissions and plugins, then switch DNS or the server address only after the world is verified.
Large Bedrock community
Consider a plan such as the listed 24GB Bedrock tier only after obtaining realistic concurrent-player guidance. Request evidence of the underlying CPU and network limits, and clarify whether the price covers the Bedrock software, backups and DDoS mitigation.
Technical administrator
Use the VPS route when you can maintain Linux and Minecraft yourself. Include time for hardening SSH, configuring automatic updates, setting firewall rules, writing a restart service, testing restores and monitoring disk and memory. The annual-billing price is only one part of that operating workload.
A safe buying and setup process
- Define the workload: record edition, Minecraft version, mod loader, expected peak players, number of worlds, view distance and scheduled jobs.
- Choose a starting RAM tier: use the workload bands above, leaving room for operating-system and panel overhead.
- Verify location: request the datacenter city, test endpoint and expected route from representative Indian ISPs.
- Check technical limits: obtain CPU policy, storage quota, backup schedule, restore method, DDoS scope and allowed Java or Bedrock versions in writing.
- Read checkout terms: confirm taxes, recurring renewal price, billing interval, cancellation, refund eligibility and data-export rights.
- Test before inviting everyone: generate chunks, fly through busy areas, run scheduled backups, restore a copy and watch tick time under peak activity.
- Document recovery: keep an independent copy of the world, server properties, plugin or mod list, permissions and configuration files.
Common causes of lag and how to respond
- High CPU time with free RAM: reduce simulation distance, profile plugins and ask whether the node is oversubscribed or CPU-limited.
- Long startup or save times: inspect storage I/O limits, world size and backup jobs; NVMe or SSD labels do not reveal the actual quota or contention.
- Crashes after a mod change: restore the last known-good backup, confirm the exact loader and Minecraft version, then add changes one at a time.
- Players report inconsistent ping: compare several ISPs and cities, run a route test and distinguish local Wi-Fi problems from datacenter congestion.
- Lost progress: stop the server before restoration, preserve the current world for investigation and verify that backups are stored independently of the game node.
The practical answer is therefore not “the cheapest plan.” It is the lowest tier that supplies enough usable RAM and CPU for your workload, in a datacenter that gives your players a sensible route, with backups and terms you can verify. Start small for a private world, measure real performance, and scale only when the workload—not a sales estimate—requires it.
