To get the Hero Cape, play Minecraft Dungeons and then sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II with the same Microsoft account by December 31, 2026. Once the cape is available in Dungeons II, sign in to Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition using that account to unlock it there.
How do I get the Minecraft Dungeons Hero Cape?
- Use the right Microsoft account. Identify the account associated with your qualifying Minecraft Dungeons play. Activity completed without signing in to a Microsoft account may not qualify, according to Minecraft Help.
- Play Minecraft Dungeons, then sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II. Use that same account for both games, and log into Dungeons II by December 31, 2026. Minecraft’s promotion instructions state that sequence and deadline.
- Check for the cape in Dungeons II. The cape becomes equippable there first. Grant processing may take time after the game detects qualifying activity; Minecraft does not give a guaranteed wait time in its support guidance.
- Sign in to the Minecraft edition where you want to use it. After it is available in Dungeons II, launch Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account to unlock the cape in those games.
Can I get the Hero Cape in Java or Bedrock?
Yes. The Dungeons-to-Dungeons II activity is the qualifying route; the cape is then unlocked in Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition by signing into each with the same Microsoft account. Minecraft’s official cape instructions describe this cross-game account process.
Do I need to own both games?
No. Minecraft’s Dungeons II FAQ says you do not need to own either game if you join a friend’s co-op session using the Microsoft account tied to the qualifying activity. Game Pass and Steam activity can also count when the same Microsoft account is used for the relevant play and Dungeons II.
