The Miele G 5000 SCU is a built-under dishwasher documented in Australia in Brilliant White (BRWS) and CleanSteel (CLST) variants. Miele’s Australian specifications list 14 place settings, five programs, 46 dB operating noise and 9.2 litres of water per wash. Those figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results, and they should not be applied to a similarly named model sold in another country.
This review focuses on the Australian G 5000 SCU variants identified in Miele’s product material. Check the exact item number and local installation requirements before buying.
Which Miele G 5000 SCU is this review about?
The clearest documented versions are Miele Australia’s G 5000 SCU BRWS, in Brilliant White (item number 11587520), and G 5000 SCU CLST, in CleanSteel (item number 11587530). Both are described as built-under dishwashers. The finish and item number matter: a model name alone does not establish that another country’s product has the same specifications.

How well does the G 5000 SCU clean?
Miele describes Eco as a program designed to save water and energy when washing normally soiled dishes. The available documentation does not establish independent comparative cleaning results, so the specification alone cannot show how the G 5000 SCU performs against other dishwashers on difficult food deposits, stains or drying.
Miele also says that during development it tested models and core components from the G 5000 and G 7000 series through 5,600 wash cycles, equating that figure to 280 cycles per year for 20 years. This is the manufacturer’s development-testing claim; it is not a promise that an individual appliance will last 20 years, nor a warranty term. Is the Miele G 5000 SCU quiet?
Miele publishes a 46 dB operating-noise rating for the Australian G 5000 SCU. One owner review hosted by Miele describes the dishwasher as very noisy and reports readings around 54 dB on an Apple Watch. That is a single user’s unverified observation, taken with a consumer device under unspecified conditions; it does not establish typical noise or contradict a controlled measurement. Consider the published rating alongside the possibility that perceived loudness varies with room layout, installation and cycle.
How much water does it use?
The Australian specification lists 9.2 litres per wash and four Energy Stars and six WELS Stars, with Eco named as the test program in the August 2024 table. These are label and manufacturer figures for the identified variants, not a guarantee that every cycle uses 9.2 litres. Actual use depends on the selected program and load; consult the exact model’s local energy and water label for a like-for-like comparison.

Does the G 5000 SCU have AutoOpen drying or Brilliant GlassCare?
Miele’s cited Australian model table does not list AutoOpen drying or Brilliant GlassCare for the G 5000 SCU. It does list those features for some G 5210 variants, but that does not mean every G 5210 SCU has the same equipment. If either feature is essential, check the specification sheet for the exact item number rather than relying on the family name.

What do owner comments say about cycle time?
A Miele-hosted owner review says a 75°C cycle took almost three hours. That is an individual report, not an official duration or a representative timing test. The available material does not establish verified durations for the G 5000 SCU’s programs, so check the manual or local product documentation if cycle time is a deciding factor.

What should you verify before buying?
- Confirm your country, exact finish and item number; the Australian variants documented here are BRWS 11587520 and CLST 11587530.
- Check the installation manual for the appliance’s dimensions, cabinetry clearances and connection requirements. The cited specifications do not establish those details.
- Confirm current local availability, price, warranty and service coverage with Miele or an authorized local seller; the 2024 Australian list is historical.
- Compare the local energy and water labels using the same country’s rating scheme and test program.
- Look up program durations and the precise drying and glass-care features on the specification sheet for the item number you intend to buy.
