If npm cannot find the Midnight wallet SDK package, check the scope spelling: the current official guide names the umbrella package @midnightntwrk/wallet-sdk, without a hyphen between midnight and ntwrk. Update that dependency and imports that refer to it. Do not remove the hyphen from every Midnight package name.
Update the umbrella package name
In your package.json, replace the old umbrella-package entry @midnight-ntwrk/wallet-sdk with the spelling used in the current Midnight wallet setup guide:
"@midnightntwrk/wallet-sdk": "1.2.0"
The guide’s example pairs that package spelling with version 1.2.0; it is an example value, not a promise that this is the right version indefinitely. Check the current compatibility matrix when selecting or changing versions.

After editing the manifest, run:
npm install
Then change imports that refer to the umbrella package. For example:

Keep the hyphen in other package names
This is a package-specific spelling change, not a rule to rewrite every @midnight-ntwrk/* dependency. The current setup guide keeps the hyphen in these Midnight.js imports:

Why older examples may not match
The documented spelling has varied over time. The Wallet SDK 1.0.0 release notes, dated 23 April 2026, use @midnight-ntwrk/wallet-sdk; the current setup guide uses @midnightntwrk/wallet-sdk. That history explains why older snippets may differ, but it does not establish a universal scope migration for every Midnight package.

A separate DApp Connector API release note says that connector project began publishing under @midnightntwrk while mirroring the legacy hyphenated scope as a transitional alias. That statement applies to the connector project; it does not prove that the legacy wallet SDK package name remains aliased or supported.
Check whether this is only a rename
The wallet SDK repository describes wallet-sdk as a barrel package that re-exports wallet sub-packages. The SDK covers distinct shielded, unshielded, and DUST wallet components, as well as key derivation, address formatting, clients, and supporting abstractions. If your code already uses the modular SDK, the scope correction may be limited to the umbrella dependency and its imports.

If your project instead depends on older monolithic packages such as @midnight-ntwrk/wallet or @midnight-ntwrk/wallet-api, do not treat this as a one-line scope fix. The example-counter migration guide covers a broader move from those packages to the modular SDK. Follow the migration guidance and compatibility information for your project’s starting point.

Verify the change in your project
- Search
package.jsonand any workspace manifests for the exact old umbrella name,@midnight-ntwrk/wallet-sdk. - Replace that dependency with
@midnightntwrk/wallet-sdk, selecting a version that matches current Midnight documentation and your other Midnight dependencies. - Update source imports that refer to the umbrella package. Leave unrelated hyphenated package names alone unless their own documentation says otherwise.
- Run
npm install, then run the project’s existing typecheck, build, and tests to catch unresolved imports or version conflicts.
The setup guide’s example uses wallet SDK 1.2.0 alongside selected Midnight.js dependencies at 4.1.1. The compatibility matrix identifies its own update date as 2026-04-07 and presents a different package/version baseline, so do not combine version numbers from those separate examples as if they were one tested set. Use the live matrix for compatible versions.
