There is no official game edition called “Metro Redux Enhanced Edition.” The official names are Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux, and the two-game collection Metro Redux. This comparison covers the original Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light against their Redux editions. A separate Metro Redux Next-Gen Update is also announced for 2026; it is not the same thing as the original Redux releases.
What changed in Metro 2033 Redux?
Metro 2033 Redux is described by publisher PLAION as a substantial rebuild of the first game using the later Last Light engine and gameplay framework. The stated changes include improvements to AI, controls, animation, and weapon handling, as well as lighting, physics, and dynamic weather. The goal was to bring the original game onto the sequel’s technical and gameplay foundation, rather than simply bundle the same original release with a new label. The publisher’s description identifies the areas changed but is not a complete, item-by-item comparison against every PC and console edition. It supports calling Redux a rebuild with broad gameplay and presentation changes, but not claiming that every platform version received identical changes.

How is Last Light Redux different from the original?
Metro: Last Light Redux is presented less as a rebuild and more as the sequel with additions, convenience features, and bundled content. PLAION lists new melee and full-body animations, in-game checks for the character’s watch and ammunition, the Survival and Spartan play styles, and Ranger Mode. In short, the first game’s Redux edition is chiefly defined by its move to the sequel’s technical and gameplay foundation. For Last Light, the clearest documented differences are its added features, modes, and DLC. PLAION’s product pages do not enumerate every difference from every original release, so the table reflects what those descriptions establish rather than a complete platform-by-platform changelog.
What does the Metro Redux collection include?
The collection Metro Redux brings together Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. A 2014 PlayStation launch announcement described the PS4 release as including both games and cited a 1080p, 60fps target for those PS4 versions at launch. What is the 2026 Metro Redux Next-Gen Update?
The announced Next-Gen Update is a separate update to Metro Redux, not a new name for the original Redux editions. PLAION says it is not a full remaster or remake, does not move the games to the current 4A Engine, and does not add ray tracing. Deep Silver’s announcement describes planned visual, audio, animation, environmental-detail, bug-fix, and quality-of-life improvements, with features varying by platform. Announced release dates and platforms
As of October 13, 2026, PLAION’s FAQ lists October 22, 2026 for PC via Steam, Epic, and GOG, and October 29, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5/Pro. It says Japan is scheduled later, Windows Store availability is aligned with consoles, and Switch is not included at that time. PLAION also says the update is free for existing owners; check the relevant store and platform edition for the applicable ownership terms. These are announced dates and details, so consult the FAQ for any changes.

Announced technical features
Deep Silver lists 4K textures and, on supported consoles and displays, options described as True 4K at 60fps or upscaled 4K at 120fps. Its announcement also lists platform-dependent features such as upscaling, spatial audio, and PC DLSS. These are announced specifications, not independently verified results or a guarantee that every feature will be available on every device; check final platform notes for shipped behavior.
