As of October 13, 2026, the Switch 2 version of Metaphor: ReFantazio is announced but not yet released, so there are no verified head-to-head performance results. Nintendo and SEGA list its release for November 12, 2026. The PS5 and PC editions have been available since the game’s original release on October 11, 2024. You can compare release timing, portability, physical format, and documented settings now; resolution, frame rate, image quality, and stability on Switch 2 remain unconfirmed.
What is available on each platform?
| Platform | Availability | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Released October 11, 2024 | Part of the original release. No matched Switch 2 performance comparison is available yet. |
| PC | Released October 11, 2024 | Part of the original release, with documented PC graphics settings and mouse-and-keyboard support. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Scheduled for November 12, 2026 | Announced upcoming edition. Official materials cited here do not specify its resolution or frame-rate target. |
ATLUS lists the original release on PC, PlayStation 4, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, dated October 11, 2024. Nintendo’s US store listing and SEGA’s June 10, 2026 announcement give November 12, 2026 for Switch 2. That date is still in the future as of October 13, 2026.
How do performance and graphics compare?
There is not enough published evidence to name a performance or graphics winner. The official materials cited here do not give a Switch 2 resolution, frame-rate target, graphics mode, docked-versus-handheld performance split, or benchmark against PS5 or PC. The Switch 2 edition has not yet launched, so no retail-build test is available in this comparison.
Do not treat footage, hardware assumptions, or results from another platform as a Switch 2 benchmark. A meaningful comparison after release should identify the game version and console firmware, report docked and handheld play separately, and compare against a specified PS5 mode and a named PC configuration. Observations such as frame-rate behavior and image quality should be distinguished from advertised targets, with any patch-related changes noted.

Which features and settings differ?
Core gameplay
ATLUS describes Metaphor: ReFantazio as a fantasy RPG built around a royal tournament to choose a new king. Its platform-level feature description includes travel and exploration, anime cutscenes, turn-based combat mixed with real-time action, party customization through Archetypes, and day-and-night planning. Quests and dungeons compete for time with relationship-building and developing virtues. These are presented as core game systems, not as Switch 2 exclusives. ATLUS’s official game page describes the feature set; Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing calls the combat “An exhilarating turn-based combat system with a blend of real time action.”
PC graphics and input options
ATLUS’s PC patch notes for version 1.03 document an anti-aliasing option adjustable in Graphic Settings, as well as camera-shake and audio-volume adjustments. The version 1.09 notes describe PC-specific mouse, controller-shortcut, and AZERTY keyboard fixes. These notes establish that certain PC settings and input behavior are documented; they do not establish that PC has better image quality or performance than console editions.

Dash motion blur
ATLUS’s version 1.09 notes add a toggle for the dash motion-blur animation on both PC and console, with different menu locations. The notes are evidence of a shared toggle with platform-specific menu paths, not a complete feature matrix for every edition. ATLUS publishes the game’s patch notes.
The official sources cited here do not establish Switch 2-specific control features, touch support, save transfer, or cross-buy. Treat those details as unconfirmed unless the local product listing or a later official announcement states otherwise.

What does the Switch 2 physical edition include?
SEGA’s regional Switch 2 page describes the standard physical edition as available only as a game-key card. This is a regional listing, so check the product information for your country rather than assuming packaging is identical everywhere. The announcement also describes a digital ATLUS 35th anniversary edition and early-purchase bonus content; Nintendo’s listing describes consumable bonus items. Check your local listing for the edition contents and any purchase or eligibility dates.
SEGA’s regional Switch 2 page is the source for the game-key-card format. The original release also has an ATLUS-listed collector’s edition with physical extras, but that does not establish that a Switch 2 collector’s edition has the same contents. ATLUS lists the original collector’s edition.

Which version should you choose?
- Choose PS5 if you want to play an already released console version and do not need the Switch 2 edition’s handheld option.
- Choose PC if PC play and its documented graphics and input settings matter to you. The cited patch notes do not prove a performance advantage over PS5.
- Wait for Switch 2 if handheld play is central to your decision or you specifically want that edition. Its scheduled launch is November 12, 2026, but game-specific handheld performance has not been established.
- Wait for post-launch comparisons if your decision depends on frame rate, resolution, image quality, or stability. Those results require tests of released versions under stated conditions.
What is known about the game’s reception?
SEGA’s June 10, 2026 announcement reports a Metascore of 94 for the PS5 version. That is a publisher-reported score referring specifically to PS5, not a current score for every platform. The same announcement notes three awards at The Game Awards 2024, including Best RPG, and a Grand Award at the Japan Game Awards 2025. These accolades do not answer how the Switch 2 port performs.
