There is no confirmed Switch 2-specific fix yet. SEGA says demo save data can carry over and that the full game asks about importing it at launch, but the Switch 2 edition is listed for November 12, 2026, and ATLUS’s published recovery steps do not cover Switch 2. Check the game’s first-launch screens, but do not delete Switch 2 save data to try to restore a missing prompt.
Can a Metaphor: ReFantazio demo save transfer to the Switch 2 game?
SEGA’s general FAQ says demo save data can carry over to the main game. It says, “Once you launch the main game, you will be asked if you want to carry over the save file.” That FAQ does not confirm that a Switch 2 demo will be available in your region or that its save will transfer to the Switch 2 edition. Read SEGA’s FAQ.

Nintendo lists the Switch 2 edition for November 12, 2026. As of October 13, 2026, that release date is still in the future, and Nintendo’s listing does not describe demo-save transfer. See Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing.
What to check if the import prompt does not appear
- Check the first-launch screens. Start the full game and look for a prompt asking whether to carry over the demo save. This is the behavior described in SEGA’s general FAQ, not a confirmed Switch 2 procedure.
- Check the platform and account context. Make sure the demo and full game are associated with the same Nintendo platform and account context. This is a cautious check, not a published Switch 2-specific fix.
- Do not delete Switch 2 save data. ATLUS’s instructions for restoring a missing prompt are for other named platforms only. They do not establish what to delete—or whether deletion is appropriate—on Switch 2.
- Check official support for a Switch 2 procedure. Consult current ATLUS, SEGA, or Nintendo support for platform-specific instructions once available.
Why deleting a save is not a safe Switch 2 fix
ATLUS says that on the platforms covered by its October 13, 2024 notice, declining the initial import prompt creates a full-game system save that can stop the prompt from appearing on later launches. It says the prompt may appear again when selecting New Game, unless the demo data was already imported. For those platforms, ATLUS describes deleting the full game’s system save and restarting the game as a recovery option.

That recovery guidance is platform-specific. ATLUS lists PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Steam, and Steam Deck—not Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. It also warns that console procedures can remove all full-game saves, and that Windows recovery can involve cloud synchronization. Do not apply those deletion steps to Switch 2. Read ATLUS’s notice.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Demo-save transfer depends on the platform
SEGA’s FAQ describes platform-specific limits, so a transfer working on one system does not prove it will work on another. For example, the FAQ says Xbox and Microsoft Store on PC support cross-save, while PS4 and PS5 saves are not cross-compatible; a PS4 demo save cannot continue in the PS5 main game, or vice versa. Those examples do not establish transfer compatibility for Switch 2.

- Nintendo lists the Switch 2 edition for November 12, 2026, with an estimated 62.1 GB game file size and Save Data Cloud support; the listing does not explain demo transfer.
- The official sources reviewed do not establish whether a Switch 2 demo is available in your region, whether its save transfers to the Switch 2 game, or how to recover a missing prompt on that system.
