Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
Install Mayview from its CurseForge project, selecting the current Minecraft 1.21.1/NeoForge release, then use the matching server-files archive for multiplayer. A dedicated server needs Java 21 on a 64-bit JVM, an accepted Minecraft EULA, and network access on port 25565 unless you intentionally change it. The steps below cover client installation, server deployment, friend access, updates, and the choice between self-hosting and managed hosting.
What Mayview with Cobblemon is
Mayview is a CurseForge modpack by jflec built around Cobblemon, the Minecraft mod that adds Pokémon collecting, exploration and battles. Its design goal is a slower, everyday-life adventure rather than a combat-only progression. You can build a home, farm, cook, trade, automate production and travel while raising a Cobblemon team.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The pack combines several systems that affect both client and server setup:
- Enhanced world generation for exploration and settlement building.
- An economy with a Daily Shop, Selling Bin and player-run shops.
- Planes, trains and automobiles for long-distance travel.
- Large decoration collections for interiors, towns and themed builds.
- Farming and cooking mechanics that support a domestic play style.
- Create-based machinery for logistics and automation.
Because these systems are distributed across many mods, every player must run the same pack release and loader combination as the server. Copying only Cobblemon into a vanilla installation will not produce a compatible Mayview world.

Current version and compatibility
The Mayview files listing identifies Mayview 1.1.2c as the latest release captured on April 20, 2026. It targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and uses the NeoForge loader. The same listing includes a 1.21 server-files package for that release. Modpack files can change, so open the project and files pages immediately before downloading rather than relying on an old installer or mirror.
| Component | Required value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Mayview release | 1.1.2c (latest listing captured April 20, 2026) | The client and server must use the same release. |
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 | Using another game version can prevent the loader or mods from starting. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge | Forge, Fabric or another loader is not interchangeable with this pack. |
| Server download | Matching 1.21 server-files package | It contains the server-side files intended for the release. |
| Java runtime | Java 21, 64-bit JVM | NeoForge’s 1.21.1 documentation lists both as prerequisites. |
A CurseForge page-data capture showed 180,791 downloads in 2026. That counter is volatile, so treat it as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent popularity figure.
Install the Mayview client
Prepare the launcher and account
You need a legitimate Minecraft Java Edition account, the launcher you intend to use, and enough free storage for the pack, its libraries and world saves. Close other heavy applications during the first installation and launch; the initial run has to unpack libraries and create configuration files.
Mayview’s authoritative distribution is its CurseForge project. Cobblemon’s official guidance also documents the Modrinth App and Prism Launcher as launchers for Cobblemon packs, but an alternative launcher should be used only when it can import the exact Mayview release and NeoForge profile. Do not substitute a similarly named Cobblemon pack.

Install from CurseForge
- Open the Mayview project on CurseForge and go to its files or releases list.
- Select the current file that states Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. At the time covered here, that file is Mayview 1.1.2c.
- Choose the install option offered by your CurseForge-compatible launcher, or download the listed package and import it through the launcher’s “Create custom profile” or equivalent flow.
- Allow the launcher to resolve the pack’s dependencies. Do not drag individual mods from another pack into the profile.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft Java Edition, select the new Mayview profile, and launch it once.
- At the title screen, open the installed profile’s version or mod information and confirm that Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge are shown. Exit normally so the configuration directory is written before adding saves or joining a server.
First-launch checks
- If the launcher reports a missing dependency, remove the partially created profile and reinstall the same Mayview release rather than downloading a random replacement mod.
- If the game closes before the menu appears, check the launcher log for the Java version and loader line. A profile pointed at an older Java runtime is a common cause of startup failure on 1.21.1.
- If textures or models are missing, let the launcher finish downloading every dependency, then restart once. Avoid copying resource packs or shader packs until an unmodified launch succeeds.
- Keep a separate backup of important single-player saves before changing pack files. A world can load incorrectly when blocks or entities supplied by a removed mod are missing.
Build a dedicated Mayview server
Server prerequisites
Use a clean directory dedicated to this server. You need the matching Mayview server-files archive, Java 21, a 64-bit JVM, write permission for the directory and a network connection that allows incoming traffic if people will connect from outside your home.
The project description recommends 6–8 GB of dedicated RAM for performance. This is the author’s general recommendation, not a measured player-capacity guarantee. Actual memory demand varies with world size, view distance, automation, exploration and the number of simultaneous players.

- From Mayview’s files page, download the Mayview 1.1.2c server-files package, or the current matching server package if the release has changed.
- Create a new, empty server directory. Do not place the archive inside an existing vanilla, Forge or unrelated modpack server.
- Extract the archive while preserving its directory structure. Keep the included loader, mods, libraries, configuration files and launch scripts together.
- Open a terminal in that directory and run
java -version. Confirm that the output identifies Java 21 and a 64-bit VM. If it shows another major version, install a Java 21 JDK and point the server script to that executable. - If you are installing NeoForge manually instead of using the supplied package, run the NeoForge installer with
--installServerin the target directory. The server archive is preferable because it keeps the pack’s tested loader and dependency set together.
Start, accept the EULA and start again
- On Linux, macOS or another Unix-like system, make the supplied script executable if necessary and run
./run.sh. On Windows, double-clickrun.bator execute it from Command Prompt. - The first start normally stops after creating files, including
eula.txt. This is expected; it gives you a chance to read the Minecraft EULA. - Open
eula.txtin a text editor. Changeeula=falsetoeula=trueonly after you have read and accepted the EULA. - Run the same script again. NeoForge will generate the world and complete the first boot. The console should eventually show that the server is ready to accept connections.
- Stop the server with the console
stopcommand, not by closing the window, before editing configuration or making a backup.
Set the port and firewall
Minecraft uses port 25565 by default. If you keep that value, allow inbound TCP traffic on 25565 in the computer’s firewall and, for internet play, forward the same port from your router to the server computer’s local IP address. If you deliberately choose another port, set it in server.properties, open and forward that port instead, and tell players the non-default port in the form address:port.
Never expose administrative services such as remote desktop or a panel port just to make Minecraft work. Open only the game port, use a strong operating-system account password, keep Java and the server files updated, and restrict console access to trusted administrators.

Same-network play
For players on the same home network, give them the server computer’s private IPv4 address, such as 192.168.x.x, and the configured Minecraft port. The host’s firewall still must allow the connection. A private address is not reachable from the public internet.
Internet play
- Assign the server computer a stable local address through your router’s DHCP reservation or a manually configured address.
- Allow the selected Minecraft port through the computer firewall.
- Create a router port-forward rule from the public port to the server computer’s local address and port.
- Find your public IP address and give players that address, optionally followed by
:portwhen you are not using 25565. - Test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot. Testing only from inside the same LAN can succeed even when the router blocks outside traffic.
Some internet providers place customers behind carrier-grade NAT, which prevents ordinary inbound port forwarding. If outside testing fails despite correct firewall and router rules, ask the provider whether you have a public IPv4 address or use a provider-supported tunnel or managed server instead. Do not publish your public address in a public chat.
Player-side matching rules
Every joining player should install the same Mayview release, Minecraft version and NeoForge loader as the server. A client on a newer release can have different registry entries, world-generation settings or entity data and may be rejected during login or damage the experience after joining. Keep the server’s address private, grant operator permissions sparingly and whitelist players when the server is not intended for the public.
Choose self-hosting or managed hosting
Cobblemon’s official documentation states: “Cobblemon does NOT have an official server.” You therefore choose between running the server yourself or renting infrastructure from an independent managed Minecraft host. A managed service can reduce operating-system and network administration, but it does not remove the need to verify Mayview compatibility.

| Decision factor | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront and recurring cost | Uses your existing computer and connection; electricity, hardware and upgrade costs remain yours. | Requires a recurring subscription; price depends on allocated resources and contract terms. |
| File and configuration control | Full access to mods, scripts, configs, logs and backups. | Control depends on the panel and plan; confirm that custom Mayview server files are permitted. |
| Technical work | You install Java 21, NeoForge, updates, firewall rules and backups. | The provider may automate starts and backups, while you still manage pack-specific updates. |
| Reliability and uptime | Depends on your power, hardware, operating system and home connection. | Usually benefits from data-center connectivity, but uptime guarantees and backup policies vary by provider. |
| Player capacity | Limited by your CPU, memory, storage and upload bandwidth. | Can often be scaled by changing the plan, subject to the provider’s hardware and policy. |
| Network exposure | You configure firewall and router access and expose your home connection. | The host supplies a public endpoint, reducing home-router work. |
| Mayview support | You control the exact release and can use the supplied server archive. | Before paying, confirm support for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge, custom modpack/server-file uploads, backups and the Mayview pack itself. |
For a few friends who play occasionally, self-hosting is practical when you can leave the machine online and are comfortable with Java and router settings. A persistent world with scheduled backups and a requirement for high availability is a better candidate for managed hosting, provided the provider confirms all Mayview requirements in writing.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Updating Mayview without breaking the world
- Read the release notes for the target Mayview version and check whether its Minecraft, NeoForge or dependency versions changed.
- Stop the server cleanly with
stop. - Copy the entire world directory,
server.properties, whitelist and permission files, and any custom configuration to offline backup storage. - Install the new server-files package in a separate directory first. Keeping the old directory untouched gives you a rollback path.
- Start the new files with the backed-up world only after confirming that the client release matches. Watch the console for missing registry, mapping or dependency errors.
- Have at least one player enter the updated world and inspect important bases, machines and storage before inviting everyone back.
Do not update only the client or only individual mods. A partial replacement can create mismatched registries and make a save difficult to recover. Never test an unverified update on the only copy of a valuable world.
Troubleshooting common failures
“Unsupported class version” or Java startup errors
Check java -version from the same account and script that launches the server. Install a 64-bit Java 21 JDK and update the script’s Java path if the operating system still selects an older runtime. A 32-bit JVM cannot provide the address space expected by a large modpack.
The server stops immediately on first launch
Look for eula.txt. The normal first-run stop is resolved by reading the EULA and setting eula=true. If no EULA file appears, verify that the directory is writable and that you launched the script from the server directory rather than from a shortcut with a different working path.
Clients are rejected for missing mods or mismatched versions
Compare the exact Mayview file name, Minecraft version and NeoForge version on the client and server. Reinstall the profile from the same release instead of adding the reported mod manually. Confirm that the server archive was not mixed with files from another Mayview release.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPlayers cannot connect from outside the house
Test locally first. Then verify the server is listening on the configured port, the operating-system firewall rule allows it, the router forwards to the correct private address and the public address has not changed. Carrier-grade NAT or an ISP block can prevent forwarding even when local settings are correct.
Lag, stalls or out-of-memory crashes
Start with the project’s 6–8 GB dedicated-RAM guidance, then observe the server log and operating-system memory use rather than assigning all available RAM. Reduce simultaneous exploration and heavy automation while diagnosing, keep the world on fast storage, and check whether a particular machine or dimension triggers repeated errors. Increasing memory cannot fix a broken dependency or an overloaded CPU.
Operational checklist
- Record the Mayview release, Minecraft version, NeoForge version and Java path in a short administrator note.
- Back up the world while the server is stopped; keep at least one copy on another disk or machine.
- Read release notes before every update and stage changes in a separate directory.
- Keep player permissions, whitelist entries and server address information private.
- Check that all players install the same client release after an update.
- Review logs after restarts for repeated warnings, failed saves or dependency errors.
- Re-test external connectivity after changing routers, ISPs or the server port.
Following these controls gives you a reproducible Mayview installation: the CurseForge client release, matching 1.21.1 NeoForge server files, Java 21 on a 64-bit JVM, an explicitly accepted EULA and a deliberately configured network path.
