Mavenlink is now part of Kantata and is identified by the company as Kantata OX; Adobe Workfront remains an enterprise work management suite. The practical choice depends on whether your main need is professional-services delivery and project financial operations or governed planning and execution across an enterprise. Neither product can be called the better option from vendor descriptions alone, so compare the workflows, package scope, integrations, and full contract cost you actually need.
What happened to Mavenlink?
Mavenlink is not presented as a standalone current product in Kantata’s current product story. Kantata says “Mavenlink is now Kantata” and identifies Mavenlink as Kantata OX. Mavenlink merged with Kimble Applications to form Kantata in an announcement dated May 16, 2022. If you are comparing proposals or older documentation, verify whether the quoted product is Kantata OX, Kantata SX, or another product or bundle.
Kantata’s Mavenlink page explains the current identity, while the merger announcement gives the background.

Which one fits your organization’s work?
Consider Kantata OX when services delivery is central
Kantata’s positioning puts professional-services operations at the center: staffing and forecasting work, managing project financials, tracking delivery, and connecting operational insight to project accounting and billing. This may be a closer fit when the core question is how to plan, deliver, and financially manage client services work. Validate the specific processes and modules in a demo rather than assuming that a high-level capability description covers your requirements.
Consider Workfront when enterprise work governance is central
Adobe describes Workfront as an enterprise work management suite and organizes it around Planning, Workflow, and Automation & Integration. Its package comparison includes capabilities such as portfolio management, with entitlements varying by tier or add-on. It may be worth evaluating when your primary concern is coordinating planned work, approvals, resources, and execution across an enterprise. Confirm that the required capabilities are included in the proposed package.
What should you compare in a product demonstration?
Use the same real workflow and sample project in both evaluations. Ask each vendor to show the result in the product, not just confirm that a feature exists.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Resource planning: Test how the system handles capacity, skills, staffing forecasts, utilization, and changes across projects or portfolios.
- Financial controls: Walk through estimates, budgets, actuals, billing, revenue recognition, and margin visibility. Do not infer equivalent financial depth from broad feature labels.
- Planning and governance: Trace work from intake and prioritization through portfolio planning, execution, reviews, approvals, and audit trails.
- Roles and access: Include full-time users and occasional collaborators, and check what each can do under the proposed license model.
- Reporting and handoffs: Test the operational reports your teams need and how work moves between planning, delivery, finance, and other systems.
Keep a written checklist of acceptance criteria and record which package, module, or add-on is required for each one. That makes a feature demonstration more useful than comparing product category labels.

How do packages and prices compare?
Adobe lists Workfront Select, Prime, and Ultimate, but does not publish a comparable per-user price on the cited pricing page; it directs buyers to request customized pricing. Some capabilities may be tier-limited or sold as add-ons. Kantata’s cited pages invite prospects to request a demo but do not establish an apples-to-apples current price. Do not treat either product’s unpriced capabilities as included until they appear in a proposal.
Request written proposals using the same assumptions: users and user types, modules, contract term, onboarding, training, integrations, migration, and support. Compare the full cost over the intended term, not only the license line. Adobe’s current package information is on its Workfront pricing page.
Rank #4
What integration changes should Workfront buyers check?
Adobe’s integration page states that Workfront’s native Salesforce integration will no longer function after February 28, 2026, and recommends Workfront Fusion for Salesforce workflows. Because this change is date-sensitive and can affect existing implementations, confirm the current support status, migration path, and work required for your configuration directly with Adobe. The same page lists Adobe and third-party integrations, including Fusion connectors for Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Figma.
Kantata describes out-of-the-box integrations and API-powered workflows, but the cited product information is not a detailed compatibility matrix. For either product, get confirmation for each required CRM, finance or ERP, identity, collaboration, and asset-management connection, including data direction, API limits, support ownership, and any added fees. See Adobe’s Workfront integrations information.

How to make a fair final decision
- Define the primary job: Decide whether the key problem is professional-services resourcing and project financial operations, enterprise work planning and governance, or a specific combination.
- Map workflows and owners: Document who requests, plans, staffs, approves, executes, bills, and reports on work.
- Run scenario-based demos: Use your processes and data examples to test the financial, planning, approval, and resource tasks that matter most.
- Validate the exact scope: Match every required capability to a named product, package, module, or add-on in the proposal.
- Check integration and migration obligations: Confirm current compatibility, connector ownership, data movement, implementation effort, and any changes required for existing systems.
- Compare complete written offers: Align user counts, contract term, onboarding, training, support, integration work, and migration before comparing total costs.
The vendor pages support a positioning comparison, but they do not establish that either platform is faster, easier to use, or more effective in practice. The best fit is the one that demonstrates your required workflows at the agreed scope and cost.
