Marvel’s Wolverine on PS5 and PS5 Pro lets you tailor controls, combat difficulty, movement, subtitles, captions, visual effects, audio cues, and violence presentation. The first-time setup menu offers broad customization before play begins. Insomniac Games confirms the available features, but its published list does not document a single button-by-button menu path for changing every option later, so use the labels shown by your current game build rather than relying on an assumed route.
What Marvel’s Wolverine accessibility settings cover
The game is a single-player, narrative-driven PS5 title released on September 15, 2026. PlayStation lists Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, and the game is playable on both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Insomniac describes more than 100 new, returning, and improved accessibility features. They are spread across several needs rather than being limited to a single “easy mode.”

When to configure the game
First launch
Insomniac says the first-time user experience presents a customization menu before the game begins. This is the clearest documented point at which to set controls, text, audio, challenge, and comfort options together. Read each option’s in-game description because several settings change how later options behave.
Changing options after starting
The official feature list confirms that the settings exist but does not publish a complete route such as “Settings > Accessibility” for every post-launch change. To make a later adjustment, open the current title-screen or in-game options interface and choose the category and label shown in your installation. Do not assume that a menu path from another game, an earlier build, or a video applies to your copy.

A reliable adjustment method
- Open the game’s current options interface from the title screen or pause interface.
- Identify the category that matches the problem: controls, gameplay, subtitles/captions, visual, audio, or violence.
- Change one relevant setting at a time.
- Return to a safe area, tutorial, cinematic, or combat encounter where the change matters.
- Read the setting description again if the result is unexpected, then adjust the next option.
This one-change-at-a-time approach makes it easier to tell whether a timing, camera, text, or input adjustment solved the original problem without creating a new one.
How to customize controls
Remap buttons and add D-pad shortcuts
You can choose a controller preset or create a custom mapping. The accessibility summary also identifies shortcuts assigned to the four D-pad buttons. Remapping is useful when a default face-button, shoulder-button, stick-click, or touch-pad action is difficult to reach consistently. After remapping, check prompts in combat and traversal so the on-screen instruction matches the action you expect.
Adjust look sensitivity and inversion
Look sensitivity can be changed for camera control, and the vertical or horizontal look direction can be inverted. Lower sensitivity generally reduces abrupt camera movement; higher sensitivity can reduce the distance your thumb must travel for a quick turn. Inversion is a preference setting, so test it in a quiet area before entering a fight.

Choose a dodge behavior

Dodge/Parry input timing is a separate gameplay control. Change timing and dodge behavior independently so you know whether a missed response came from the timing window or the physical input mode.
Choose a sprint mode

The exact prompt displayed for each mode is the authority for your build. If movement stops unexpectedly, return to this setting and verify whether the selected mode expects a press, release, or toggle.
Reduce repeated, simultaneous, or held inputs
Several options are designed to avoid demanding input patterns. The game includes settings for button holds, rapid presses, simultaneous presses, touch controls, vibration, and adaptive-trigger resistance. UI Holds and Special Techniques can use Hold or Toggle behavior. Repeated-button settings change how sequences of repeated presses are handled. These controls can reduce fatigue during menus, quick-time events, combat techniques, and cinematic interactions.
Change melee behavior and touch-pad actions
Melee behavior can be set to Single, Combo, or Continuous. A single-action mode limits each input to one attack; combo and continuous behaviors can reduce the need to repeat the same command, depending on the move. The game also provides a touch-pad behavior option during combat. If a touch-pad swipe or press is difficult to perform, check whether another controller mapping or melee mode can put the same action on a more accessible input.

Adjust gameplay challenge and assistance
Set the sources of combat difficulty separately
Challenge options include stealth awareness, enemy health, and enemy damage. These are distinct levers: reducing enemy health shortens fights, reducing enemy damage makes mistakes less costly, and changing stealth awareness affects how quickly enemies detect Logan. You can therefore target the part of an encounter that causes difficulty instead of lowering every aspect at once.
Change Dodge/Parry timing and Dodge Mode
Dodge/Parry input timing changes how much time you have to respond to an attack cue. Dodge Mode provides additional behavior choices beyond the timing window. Read the on-screen description for the selected mode, because the practical result depends on how the game interprets a tap, hold, or repeated input.
Use Chase, Navigation, and Traversal Assist
- Chase Assist: helps with chase sequences when maintaining the intended route or pace is the problem.
- Navigation Assist: can show a directional trail to the nearest enemy or mission objective. Its color and turn speed are adjustable.
- Traversal Assist: reduces the precision or timing burden of movement through the environment.
- Mission waypoint visibility: controls whether objective waypoints remain visible during play.
Navigation Assist is not limited to a static marker: Insomniac specifically describes a trail that points toward the nearest enemy or mission objective. If the trail is hard to read, change its color and turn speed rather than disabling it immediately.
Slow the game without changing every challenge value
Global Game Speed and Combat Game Speed are listed at four values: 100%, 70%, 50%, and 30%. Global speed affects the broader game experience, while Combat Game Speed targets fights. A slower combat speed can give you more time to read attacks while leaving exploration at normal speed; a global reduction affects a wider range of actions and scenes.
Automate or skip demanding interactions
QTE Autocomplete can complete supported quick-time events automatically. Repeated-button settings reduce rapid-press demands, and UI Holds can replace sustained pressure with a toggle. Puzzle skipping is available for players who want to continue the story without solving a particular puzzle. Tutorials and reminders can also be configured, and the game lists replay or restart controls for an active cinematic.
Make subtitles and captions easier to read
Understand the difference
Subtitles display spoken dialogue. Captions describe important sound effects and music during cinematics and gameplay. They are separate controls, so turning on or enlarging subtitles does not necessarily configure captions for non-speech audio.
Configure size, color, and background independently
Both subtitles and captions provide controls for text size, text color, background color, and background opacity. Use the background and opacity controls when text is lost against bright scenery; use color controls when two speakers or sound categories need clearer separation. The settings are independent, allowing dialogue and sound-effect text to remain visually distinct.

Show where a sound comes from
Direction indicators can be enabled for all subtitles or captions, or only for text originating off screen. Their colors can also be changed. The all-source option gives the most persistent directional information; the off-screen-only option keeps the screen less busy while still identifying sounds outside the camera view.

Music captions have a separate color option. This lets you distinguish musical information from spoken dialogue and other sound-effect captions without changing every caption color.
Reduce motion and improve visual readability
Start with motion-sensitivity and effect controls
Motion sensitivity presets group common comfort adjustments. Individual controls include fullscreen effects, motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration, and depth of field. Disable or reduce the effect that causes discomfort rather than assuming every visual effect must be turned off.
Control camera movement
Camera shake, camera rotation effects, camera follow, and combat camera rotation assistance address different sources of motion. Camera shake changes impact movement, rotation effects alter the way the view turns, camera follow changes how the camera tracks action, and combat rotation assistance helps keep combat framing manageable. Test these in a fight and during traversal because a comfortable combat setting may feel different while moving through the world.
Add a persistent center dot
A persistent center dot can remain on screen as a visual reference. Its size, color, and opacity are adjustable. Increase opacity or size only as much as needed so it remains useful without obscuring targets or cinematic details.
Enlarge interface text and prompts
UI text size has three documented choices: Standard, Large, and Largest. Icon and prompt size can also be changed. These settings affect interface legibility rather than the underlying subtitle and caption controls, so configure both if menus and dialogue are difficult to read.
Use color and contrast alternatives
Visual presets, emphasis-text color, and color choices for Senses, enemy threats, parry threats, and dodge threats help separate information during combat. PlayStation also describes clear and large text, color alternatives, high-contrast visuals, and visual-comfort controls that reduce camera movement and effects. If one threat color blends into the environment, choose a different color and test it in a real encounter rather than judging it from the menu alone.

Configure hearing and audio assistance
Make speech and channels easier to distinguish
- Mono audio: combines left and right channels for listeners who need the same signal in both ears.
- Voice Boost: emphasizes spoken dialogue relative to other audio.
- Audio description: provides narrated descriptive information where supported.
- Screen reader: reads supported interface text aloud.
Insomniac marks some screen-reader language support as update features. Availability can therefore vary by language, region, and installed version; do not assume every language is included on every copy.
Replace sound direction with visual or tactile information
Audio cue alternatives, directional audio indicators, and strong haptic signals can represent important sound information without requiring you to identify it from stereo audio alone. PlayStation describes visual indicators for sound direction and controller vibration as accessibility alternatives. If vibration is uncomfortable, the controller-feedback setting can be adjusted separately from the visual indicator.

Change violence and language presentation
Use Violence Presets or individual controls
Violence Presets provide grouped choices, while individual settings expose the specific presentation controls:

These settings concern what is shown on screen; they do not remove the game’s story, combat encounters, or mature themes.
Filter adult language
PlayStation Blog describes filters for English-only adult language. The language qualification matters: do not assume the same filter is available for every spoken or subtitle language.

Troubleshooting common setup problems
“I changed subtitles, but sound effects are still missing”
Subtitles and captions are separate. Enable captions and configure their size, color, background, opacity, and direction indicators independently.

“The directional trail is hard to follow”
Navigation Assist includes adjustable color and turn speed. Choose a color with strong contrast against the environment and change the turn speed until turns are readable without constant camera correction.
“The game still asks me to press quickly”
Check repeated-button settings and QTE Autocomplete, then review the control behavior for the specific action. A dodge mode or sprint mode does not automatically change every quick-time event.
“The screen reader does not speak my language”
Some screen-reader language support is identified as an update feature. Confirm that the first update is installed and check the language options offered by your region and game build.
“A guide shows a menu path I cannot find”
Menu labels and placement can differ between launch content and updated installations. The documented feature list does not establish one universal later-change path, so use the categories and descriptions currently displayed by your game.
Version, update, and platform notes
Insomniac says the accessibility features are included on the disc and through the first update at launch. A disc-only installation and a fully updated installation may therefore present features differently until the update is applied. Keep the game updated before troubleshooting a missing option.
The feature descriptions apply to the PS5 game, including PS5 Pro play. They do not establish that every language, every screen-reader voice, or every accessibility behavior is identical across regions. Check the options visible in your edition and installed version, especially for update-dependent audio and screen-reader support.
Bottom line
Marvel’s Wolverine offers unusually broad control over input effort, combat challenge, navigation, text, captions, visual motion, hearing information, and violence presentation. Begin with the first-launch customization menu, then make later changes through the options interface shown by your current build. Because subtitles and captions, global and combat speed, camera effects, and input behaviors are separate controls, you can target one barrier without changing the entire game.
