If the MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls PS Plus trial is missing, locked, or stuck downloading, diagnose the failure in this order: verify that the Game Trial is actually listed for your PlayStation account and region, confirm the entitlement on the account that selected it, then troubleshoot the PS5 download and PlayStation Network connection. A PlayStation Plus subscription does not make an unlisted offer appear, and restoring licenses cannot create an offer that your Store does not provide.
The game’s official FAQ separates online access from offline content. PlayStation Plus and an internet connection are required for online gameplay and other online features on PS5, while the listed offline modes work without a Plus account. Follow the branch below that matches what you see.
Identify the failure before changing settings
These symptoms look similar but have different causes. Use the table to choose the right starting point rather than buying the game or repeatedly restoring licenses.

Do not assume that reports using phrases such as “trial not showing” or “download stuck” describe a single widespread outage. The same message can result from an offer that is not available to a particular account, an invalid entitlement, or a local transfer problem.

1. Confirm that a Game Trial is offered to your account
Open the listing while signed in to the intended account
- On the PS5, open the PlayStation Store.
- Search for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls and open the game’s listing.
- Check the purchase choices for a label such as Game Trial. The trial option must appear for the account and region that will use it.
- Read the subscription and offer terms shown on that local Store page before selecting the trial.
A missing trial choice is an availability question, not automatically a console fault. The official game-support pages do not establish that a trial is offered in every country, how long any trial lasts, or which exact PlayStation Plus tier is eligible. Those details can change by market and promotion, so use the Store listing for your own account as the authority.
What to do when the offer is not listed
If the listing has no Game Trial option, there is no entitlement for the PS5 to download from that account at that moment. Check that you are signed in to the intended PlayStation account and that you are viewing the Store for the correct country or region. If the offer still does not appear, wait for the offer to become available in that market or contact PlayStation Support to ask about account and Store eligibility. Do not treat the existence of a Plus subscription, another player’s access, or an online article describing a promotion as proof that your account qualifies.
Buying the full game is optional and separate from this diagnosis. It does not turn an unavailable trial into an available one and should not be used as a fix for an offer that is missing.
2. Check the account and entitlement when the trial is locked
Use the account that claimed or selected the offer
PlayStation entitlements belong to the account that claimed, purchased or selected them. If another family member or another user on the console selected the trial, switch to that account and check the Store and Game Library there. A title can appear with a lock when the signed-in account does not have the required license, even though the console itself is online and has Plus.
Also check whether the Store shows the trial as already claimed, expired or otherwise unavailable. Record the exact wording and any error code before changing settings; those details help Support distinguish an account problem from an installation problem.
Restore the PS5 license
PlayStation recommends license restoration when a title is locked or content cannot be found. On PS5, use this exact path:
- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses and follow the on-screen confirmation.
The PlayStation license guide explains this process at Restore licenses on PlayStation. After it finishes, return to the Store or Game Library and check the trial again.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRestoring licenses refreshes the console’s recognition of entitlements already associated with the account. It is not a way to add a trial that is absent from the local Store, extend a trial, change its subscription tier, or bypass regional eligibility. If the option remains locked after restoration, the account may not hold the entitlement, the offer may have ended, or PlayStation may need to correct the account record.

3. When the download will not start
Restart the queue entry
If the trial is visible and selectable but nothing begins downloading, start with the download queue rather than deleting the game or changing network hardware.
- Open Downloads/Uploads on the PS5.
- Find the MARVEL Tōkon trial entry.
- Pause it, wait briefly, and select resume.
- If it still does not start, cancel and delete the queued download.
- Open the Game Library, locate the content again and start the download from there.
This queue sequence follows PlayStation’s official troubleshooting guidance for downloaded games: Troubleshoot downloaded PlayStation games. Deleting a queue entry is different from deleting an entitlement; you are removing the incomplete transfer so the Store can create a fresh download task.
Check free storage before retrying
A download can fail to begin or repeatedly pause when the console lacks enough available storage. Check the PS5’s free space before starting the transfer again. If space is low, remove or move content you no longer need, then return to the Game Library and retry. Do not infer the required size from a different edition or a physical disc; use the size and space warning displayed by your own Store listing.
Verify the selected account one more time
When a queue item disappears after cancellation, return to the Store while signed in to the account that selected the trial. A different user can see the game but lack permission to start the download. If the Game Trial option itself has disappeared, stop troubleshooting the queue and return to the availability checks in section 1.
4. When the download is stuck
Check PlayStation service status
A transfer that sits at one percentage, repeatedly errors, or fails after several retries can be caused by a PlayStation Network service interruption. Review the current PlayStation service-status page before repeatedly restarting the console. If PlayStation reports an alert affecting downloads, account management or the Store, wait for service recovery and retry afterward. A local setting cannot repair an active platform outage.
Test the PS5 connection
On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Connection Status and run the available connection test. A successful test does not prove that every PlayStation service is operating, but a failed test identifies the network as the next problem to solve. Retry the download after the console reports a working connection.
If your connection test fails, correct the local connection using the network equipment and service you normally use, then test again. Avoid concluding that the trial entitlement is invalid solely because a transfer stopped; entitlement and transport are separate stages.

Retry only after removing the failed queue item
When a stuck entry remains in Downloads/Uploads, pause and resume it once. If it does not progress, cancel and delete that entry, confirm storage, and start a new download from the Game Library. Repeatedly tapping retry on the same corrupted queue item does not create a new transfer.

5. Update the PS5 and use Safe Mode only as a later repair
Install current system software
PlayStation’s download guide includes system software as a required check. Confirm that the PS5 is running current system software before treating a persistent download failure as a database problem. An outdated console can produce Store or installation behavior that is not specific to MARVEL Tōkon.
Clear cache and rebuild the database
If the account has the entitlement, the Store listing is valid, storage is available, the connection works and PlayStation reports no relevant outage, PlayStation suggests using Safe Mode options to Clear Cache and Rebuild Database. Use the Safe Mode procedure and on-screen instructions in the official download troubleshooting guide rather than improvising settings: PlayStation download troubleshooting.
Safe Mode is a more involved local repair than restarting a queue item. Perform it only after the simpler account, license, storage, service and connection checks. If an on-screen warning appears, stop and follow PlayStation’s instructions; do not interrupt a repair process.

Separate Plus online access from the trial entitlement
The official MARVEL Tōkon FAQ says a PlayStation Plus account and an internet connection are required for online gameplay and other online features on PS5. That statement describes the requirements for online play; it does not promise that a Game Trial is available to every Plus subscriber or region.
The same FAQ lists offline content that can be used without a Plus account:
- Episode Mode
- Local Versus
- Training Mode
- All-Star Arena
- Battle Guides
- Character Guides
- Arcadia Rumble
Therefore, a player can have a working installation and still be unable to enter online modes because the Plus requirement, internet connection or online service is not satisfied. Conversely, having Plus does not prove that the account owns a Game Trial entitlement.
See the complete game FAQ at MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls FAQ for the game’s online and offline feature information.

For unexpected server downtime, the official FAQ advises checking the game’s official X and Discord announcements. Use those announcements to distinguish a scheduled or known service issue from a PS5 account or network problem. A server outage will not be fixed by restoring licenses or deleting the download.

7. Do not confuse the PS Plus Pack with a Game Trial
The PlayStation Store has a separate MARVEL Tōkon PS Plus Pack. The U.S. listing states that a copy of the game is required: MARVEL Tōkon PS Plus Pack.
This pack is downloadable add-on content, not evidence that your account has a Game Trial. Seeing the pack in the Store, in a search result or in a Plus-related section does not establish trial eligibility. Check the product title and requirements carefully; the base game and an add-on can appear in the same search results while having different entitlements.
8. What to send PlayStation Support
Contact PlayStation Support for account, purchase, license and installation problems. The official MARVEL Tōkon support FAQ directs PlayStation account, purchase and installation questions to PlayStation Support, while game bugs and patch issues should go to MARVEL Tōkon Support: MARVEL Tōkon PlayStation support FAQ.
Collect useful evidence first
- The exact account and country/region used on the PS5.
- Whether the Game Trial option appears in the local Store.
- The exact lock message or error code.
- Whether the entitlement was claimed, selected or previously downloaded.
- The steps that reproduce the failure, in order.
- The date and time of the attempt, including your time zone if relevant.
- A screenshot or short video showing the Store page, lock, queue entry or error.
- The result of the PS5 connection test and whether PlayStation status reported an alert.
These details let Support determine whether it is looking at eligibility, an account license, a Store transaction or an installation transfer. Include the product name exactly as shown on the PS5 and do not omit an error code, even if the code appeared only once.
Use the game support channel for game defects
If the trial installs and launches but you encounter a reproducible gameplay bug, crash or patch-specific defect, use MARVEL Tōkon’s game-support route rather than treating it as a Store entitlement issue. The game FAQ identifies that route separately from PlayStation Support. Include the same reproduction steps, timestamp and media, plus the mode and character involved if the problem occurs only in a particular match or menu.
9. Optional full-game purchase, kept separate from troubleshooting
If the trial works and you decide to continue, the official FAQ confirms that a physical PS5 Standard Edition exists and can be upgraded through the PlayStation Store. That is a normal way to obtain the full game, but it is not a repair for a locked or missing trial and should be considered only after you understand why the original offer failed.
Do not buy the full game solely to bypass an entitlement error that PlayStation Support has not explained. Resolve the account or Store problem first if you expected a valid trial, especially when the local Store never displayed a Game Trial option.

Final PS5 checklist
- Open the local MARVEL Tōkon Store listing while signed in to the account that will play.
- Confirm that a Game Trial option is actually displayed and read its local terms.
- If it is locked, verify the claiming account and use Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
- If the download will not start, pause and resume it in Downloads/Uploads; if necessary, cancel and delete the queue entry and restart from Game Library.
- Check available storage.
- Check PlayStation service status and run Settings > Network > Connection Status.
- Confirm PS5 system software is current.
- Only after those checks, use Safe Mode’s Clear Cache and Rebuild Database options as directed by PlayStation.
- For online play, confirm PlayStation Plus and an internet connection; remember that the listed offline modes do not require Plus.
- Send PlayStation Support the account context, error code, reproduction steps, timestamp and screenshot or video. Send gameplay bugs and patch issues to MARVEL Tōkon Support.
The decisive first question is whether the Game Trial is listed for your own account and region. If it is not listed, console repairs cannot manufacture the offer. If it is listed but locked, investigate the entitlement. Only after access is confirmed should you spend time repairing the PS5 download or network path.
