MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a team-based fighting game for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). Its official launch roster has 20 characters, PS5-to-PC cross-play is supported, and online play requires PlayStation Plus on PS5 or a PlayStation account on PC. When can you play MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?
Online servers began opening on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM UTC. The same launch moment is listed as August 6 at 8:00 PM PST and Friday, August 7 at 12:00 AM JST. Because that moment crosses midnight in parts of the world, a player in one country may see August 6 while another sees August 7.
The game’s offline modes do not depend on waiting for an online lobby. Once the game is installed on a supported system, you can use the single-player and local features described below without an internet connection. Online matchmaking, profiles and lobby functions do require the applicable account and network access.

What platforms is the game available on?
PlayStation 5
The console version is available for PS5. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is confirmed, and digital editions are sold through PlayStation Store. PS5-compatible arcade sticks and leverless controllers are supported, which makes the console version suitable for players who prefer an arcade-style control layout.
Windows PC
PC versions are sold through Steam and Epic Games Store. The official PC requirements specify Windows 11 for both the minimum and recommended configurations. The detailed hardware requirements appear later in this guide.
No confirmed PS4, Xbox or Switch version
The official platform information identifies PS5 and PC only. It does not announce versions for PS4, Xbox consoles or Nintendo Switch, so do not assume that a copy for another system will run or that another console community will be included in cross-play.

How does online play work?
PS5 requirements
On PS5, online play requires an internet connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription. This requirement applies to the game’s online features, including matchmaking and lobby activities. A PS5 owner can still use the offline modes without connecting to a match.
PC requirements
On PC, the official FAQ names an internet connection and a PlayStation account as the online requirements. The FAQ does not state that PlayStation Plus is required on PC. You will still need the account connection for online functions even though the game is purchased through Steam or Epic Games Store.

Online modes and lobbies
Online features include Online Lobby, Room Matches (Private Rooms), Ranked Matches, Casual Matches and player profiles. The PlayStation product information describes an online lobby that can hold up to 64 players. The FAQ also says you can choose lobbies across regions, subject to each lobby’s capacity. Regional selection can therefore help you find a suitable community, but it does not guarantee a place in a full lobby or eliminate the effects of distance and connection quality.
Does MARVEL Tōkon support PS5-PC cross-play?
Yes. The PlayStation product page confirms cross-play between PS5 and PC. A PS5 player can therefore be matched with a PC player in supported online modes. The confirmation is specifically about cross-play; it does not establish cross-progression, shared purchases, shared save data or a single combined storefront library. Treat those features as unconfirmed rather than assuming they accompany cross-play.

What can you play offline?
You can play a substantial set of modes without an internet connection:
- Episode Mode: the story-focused mode. Producer Takeshi Yamanaka describes it as blending American comics and Japanese manga into a new storytelling format adapted for a modern video game.
- Local Versus: fight another person on the same system.
- Training Mode: practice movement, attacks, assists and team sequences without entering an online match.
- All-Star Arena: an offline challenge activity.
- Battle Guides: learn the game’s systems and match fundamentals.
- Character Guides: study individual characters and their tools.
- Arcadia Rumble: playable offline, with optional online features.
Offline availability does not mean every feature works without a connection. Online Lobby, Ranked Matches, Casual Matches, Room Matches and player profiles are network features and require the account and connection conditions listed above.
Which characters are playable at launch?
The official launch roster contains 20 characters:

How does the four-character team system work?
You select four characters for a team, but all four are not available from the opening instant of a match. The first two characters you select are the characters available when the fight begins. The other two become available after a qualifying in-match event.

- Choose four characters. Arrange your team in the order you want. The first two selections form your starting access.
- Begin the match with the first two. The third and fourth selections are not immediately available at match start.
- Trigger a break. Qualifying attacks or throws can cause a break that unlocks the rest of the team. A successful light-route Link Attack near the edge can also qualify.
- Use the round-loss unlock. Losing a round is another way to gain access to the remaining team members.
This rule explains why selecting four characters does not mean that four are instantly selectable during the opening exchange. Team order matters: it determines which two characters you can use before a break or a lost round opens the rest of your roster.
What PC hardware does the game require?
The official FAQ lists Windows 11 for both configurations. It lists 16 GB of RAM for minimum and recommended systems alike.

These are the published minimum and recommended specifications, not a guarantee of identical frame rates or image quality on every computer. The FAQ warns that systems below the minimum can experience performance, graphics or other technical limitations. If your PC falls below the listed hardware, expect to troubleshoot settings or accept that the game may not perform as intended.
What accessibility and input support is included?
Language and text-to-speech
The official FAQ lists text-to-speech support for all 17 languages supported by the game. This is a text-to-speech feature, not a statement that every language has full voice acting.

PS5 Access Controller
PS5 Access Controller support is listed for the game. Players using that controller should still confirm their console’s control assignments and any game-specific mapping options after installation.
Arcade-style controllers
The PlayStation product information says PS5-compatible arcade sticks and leverless controllers can be used. It does not identify or endorse a particular model, so compatibility should be checked for the individual device and console connection method.
Which edition should you buy?
The official FAQ lists these United States recommended retail prices. Prices and package contents can vary by region and may change after launch.

Owners can purchase Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrades through PlayStation Store. The existence of an upgrade path does not make every regional price or promotion identical, so check the listing for your account’s country before paying. The FAQ confirms the physical Standard Edition for PS5; it does not confirm a physical Deluxe or Ultimate disc.

- Choose PS5 if you want a console setup, a physical Standard Edition or support for a compatible arcade stick or leverless controller. Budget for PlayStation Plus if you plan to play online.
- Choose PC if your computer meets the Windows 11 and hardware requirements and you prefer Steam or Epic Games Store. Online play requires a PlayStation account and internet access.
- Choose either platform for cross-play if your friends are split between PS5 and PC; the official product page confirms those two platforms can play together.
- Choose Standard if you only need the base game. Consider Digital Deluxe or Ultimate only when the Year 1 pass and, for Ultimate, its cosmetic items and costumes justify the higher listed price.
Common launch questions
Can I play the story without internet?
Yes. Episode Mode is listed among the offline activities, so it does not require an online match or lobby connection.
