| Edition | Included content | US price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Base game. Available digitally, with a confirmed physical PS5 Standard Edition. | $59.99 |
| Digital Deluxe | Base game; Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass; Howard the Duck lobby avatar; Cosmo lobby pet. | $84.99 |
| Ultimate | Everything in Digital Deluxe; five character costumes; animated color unlocks for all 20 launch characters. | $99.99 |
Standard Edition
Standard is the straightforward choice when you want the launch roster and modes without committing to post-launch content or cosmetic extras. The official materials describe 20 launch characters. Standard does not include the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, the Howard the Duck lobby avatar, the Cosmo lobby pet, the five Ultimate costumes, or the animated color unlocks.
PlayStation confirms Standard in both digital and physical form on PS5. The physical product is specifically a PS5 Standard Edition; the sources do not establish a physical Deluxe or Ultimate package.
Digital Deluxe Edition
Digital Deluxe adds the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass to the base game. The pass is described as four additional playable characters and one new playable stage released after launch. The official FAQ also identifies battle result poses among the pass content. Deluxe includes two lobby cosmetics: a Howard the Duck lobby avatar and a Cosmo lobby pet.
At the announced US prices, Deluxe costs $25 more than Standard. That difference buys the pass and the listed lobby items; it does not include the five costumes or the animated color unlocks reserved for Ultimate.
Ultimate Edition
Ultimate contains all Deluxe content, then adds five character costumes and animated color unlocks for each of the 20 launch characters. The announced US price is $99.99, or $40 above Standard and $15 above Deluxe. The animated colors apply to the launch roster, not to the four later characters described in the Year 1 pass.
Ultimate is therefore a cosmetic upgrade over Deluxe rather than a larger gameplay pass. If you only want the four additional characters and one stage, Deluxe supplies the same pass at a lower price. Ultimate makes sense only if the listed costumes and animated launch-character colors are worth the additional $15 to you.
What exactly is in the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass?
The official descriptions establish four additional playable characters and one new playable stage released post-launch. The support FAQ also lists battle result poses as part of the pass. The materials do not provide a complete character-by-character schedule in the information available here, so do not assume names, release dates, or a delivery order beyond what your store or the game announces.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Four playable characters: These are additional fighters delivered after launch.
- One playable stage: A post-launch stage included in the pass.
- Battle result poses: Listed by the official FAQ as pass content.
Buying the pass through Deluxe or as a separate add-on gives access to that content according to the platform account that owns it. If you buy a physical PS5 Standard disc and later decide you want Deluxe or Ultimate content, PlayStation’s FAQ says you can purchase the corresponding upgrade content from the PlayStation Store.
Is there a physical PS5 version?
Yes. The official MARVEL Tōkon support FAQ confirms a physical PS5 Standard Edition. It does not confirm a physical Deluxe Edition or physical Ultimate Edition, so treat retailer claims about boxed higher tiers cautiously unless the listing is backed by a current official announcement.

Physical Standard owners can buy Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content from the PlayStation Store. This lets a disc buyer start with the base game and add the pass or Ultimate cosmetics later instead of paying for them on day one. The exact upgrade price and local availability are store details that can change; check the add-on listing on the same PlayStation account and region used with your disc.
- Confirm that a disc listing is for PS5, not a different platform.
- Check whether the package is Standard, because the officially confirmed physical format is Standard.
- Use the PlayStation Store in the same account region as the disc; region-mismatched add-ons can be unavailable or incompatible.
- Keep the disc available when launching a physical installation, even after purchasing a digital upgrade.
Is MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on Steam?
Yes. PlayStation’s June 2025 announcement identifies Steam and the Epic Games Store as the PC storefronts. There is no separate console-generation version listed in the official platform information: the console release is for PS5, while the computer release is on those two PC stores.
Choose the PC store that fits your library, payment method, and existing account. The game’s online requirements are not identical to PS5: PC online features require an internet connection and a PlayStation account, while the PS5 online requirement also includes PlayStation Plus.
Release timing and regional date differences
The official announcement gave August 6, 2026 as the release date, with August 7 in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Korea. Storefronts can display a local unlock time rather than a single worldwide clock, so use the countdown and release time shown by your own Steam, Epic Games Store, or PlayStation listing.
Preorders opened February 19, 2026 at participating retailers and digital storefronts. The announced preorder items were Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, a Baby Groot lobby pet, and a Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride. The announcement says an account and internet connection were required to redeem incentives and that some unlocks could require progression. Because launch has passed, those bonuses should be treated as historical unless a current local listing explicitly includes them.
Do I need PlayStation Plus?
| Where you play | Online requirement | Offline access |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Internet connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription for online play. | Offline modes are available without the relevant online account requirement. |
| PC | Internet connection and a PlayStation account for online features. | The listed offline modes can be played without the online account requirement. |
PlayStation Plus is specifically required for PS5 online play. The official information does not state that a PlayStation Plus subscription is required on PC; it states that PC online features require internet and a PlayStation account. A PlayStation account is therefore distinct from a PS5 Plus subscription in this comparison.

Offline modes
The official FAQ and PlayStation product information list these modes as playable offline:
- Episode Mode: A story-focused mode for solo play.
- Local Versus: Matches on the same system.
- Training Mode: Practice and lab work without an online opponent.
- All-Star Arena: An offline mode included in the game’s feature list.
- Battle Guides: Instructional material for understanding the combat system.
- Character Guides: Fighter-specific learning content.
Download and installation still require the platform’s normal network access, updates may require an internet connection, and any online-only functions remain unavailable while disconnected. The offline list describes the game modes that do not require the relevant online account, not a promise that every menu or post-launch item works without updates.
Does PS5 support cross-play with PC?
Yes. PlayStation states that PS5 and PC cross-play is supported. That means a PS5 player can play supported online matches with players using the PC version, subject to the game’s account, connection, matchmaking, and service rules.

- American football simulation game brings all the intensity and realism of NFL players, drafts, and strategies to your console - Game modes include Superstar: The League, Superstar: Showdown, Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and Cross-play for endless variation.
- Anatomically accurate player skeletons are more responsive, achieving true-to-life player motion during gameplay - Field SENSE animation technology provides greater control, realism, and immersive Ness when performing complex maneuvers.
- AI enhanced movement makes it easier for your team to execute your gameplan with ball carrier pathfinding and QB and DB awareness.
- Skill-based Passing 2.0 has improved accuracy, DB behavior, and catching for more intuitive throwing and defensive actions.
- Hit Everything 2.0 gives your teammates greater situational awareness, allowing them to push the pile and gain ground to attack the football more effectively.
Cross-play does not remove platform requirements. A PS5 player still needs PlayStation Plus and internet for online play; a PC player still needs internet and a PlayStation account. If matchmaking does not work, first verify that both players have current game updates, are using compatible online settings, and have completed any account sign-in or linking steps shown by the game.
What controllers work?
PlayStation says PS5-compatible arcade sticks and leverless controllers can be used. They are optional accessories, not prerequisites. A standard compatible PS5 controller or a supported PC input device is sufficient to start; choose an arcade stick or leverless controller only if that control style suits your hand placement and fighting-game habits.
- Arcade stick: Uses a traditional lever and buttons, which some players prefer for deliberate directional inputs.
- Leverless controller: Uses buttons for directions and may appeal to players who prefer uniform digital inputs.
- Standard controller: The least expensive way to begin and adequate for learning the game before buying specialized hardware.
The compatibility statement confirms that these categories can be used on PS5; it does not certify a particular model, guarantee every PC connection method, or imply that any accessory is required for competitive play.
Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard if you want the lowest-cost complete launch package
Standard is appropriate when you mainly want the base roster, offline modes, local Versus, and online play without prepaying for post-launch content. It is also the only edition with a confirmed physical PS5 format. You can add Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content later on PS5 if your interest grows.
Choose Digital Deluxe if you expect to play post-launch characters
Deluxe is the practical middle tier for players who want the four additional characters and one stage in the Year 1 pass. It also includes Howard the Duck and Cosmo lobby items and the pass’s battle result poses. At the announced US prices, the $25 premium over Standard is the cost of bundling those extras at launch.

Ultimate includes the same pass as Deluxe, then adds five costumes and animated color unlocks for all 20 launch characters. Its $15 premium over Deluxe is primarily for those cosmetics. It does not add more post-launch playable characters or stages beyond the Deluxe pass.
Buy physical Standard and upgrade later if you are undecided
This route keeps the initial purchase at the Standard level while preserving an official upgrade path on PS5. It is useful if you prefer a disc, want to wait for more information about post-launch content, or are unsure whether the Ultimate cosmetics justify their premium. Before buying, verify that the desired upgrade appears in your regional PlayStation Store.

Buying checklist for PS5 and PC
- Pick the platform: Select PS5 if you want a console copy or the confirmed physical disc; select PC if you prefer Steam or the Epic Games Store.
- Decide physical versus digital: Physical availability is confirmed for PS5 Standard only. Digital versions are available for all three tiers where listed.
- Choose the content tier: Standard is base game; Deluxe adds the Year 1 pass and two lobby items; Ultimate adds five costumes and animated colors for 20 launch characters.
- Check the local listing: Confirm currency, taxes, edition name, release status, and whether any upgrade is offered in your account region.
- Prepare online access: On PS5, arrange PlayStation Plus and internet for online play. On PC, create or sign in to a PlayStation account and provide internet access.
- Update before troubleshooting: Install the latest game and platform updates before testing cross-play, pass entitlements, or controller support.
- Keep purchase accounts aligned: Use the platform account that owns the game when redeeming or downloading add-ons, and avoid mixing disc and store regions.
Common purchase and setup pitfalls
Assuming every higher tier has a physical disc
Only the physical PS5 Standard Edition is confirmed. Deluxe and Ultimate are described as digital editions, with digital upgrade content available for physical Standard owners. A retailer’s “deluxe” wording may refer to a download code or a bundle rather than a separately manufactured disc.
Expecting Ultimate to add more fighters than Deluxe
Both higher tiers include the same Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass. Ultimate’s additional value is five costumes and animated colors for the 20 launch characters, not an expanded character or stage count.
Confusing a PlayStation account with PlayStation Plus
A PlayStation account is required for PC online features. PS5 online play additionally requires PlayStation Plus. If a PC player is prompted for a PlayStation account, that is consistent with the published requirement and is not evidence that a PS5 subscription is needed on PC.
Buying a regional add-on that does not match the disc
Digital upgrades and downloadable content are tied to store regions and accounts. If an upgrade is missing, check that the disc, account, and PlayStation Store are from the same region before contacting support.

Expecting preorder items after launch
The Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, Baby Groot lobby pet, and Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride were announced as preorder bonuses. After launch, availability depends on the exact retailer or digital listing; do not assume a standard copy includes them.
What the team design means for a first purchase
Game Director and Lead Battle Designer Kazuto Sekine said in PlayStation.Blog’s June 2025 announcement: “Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game.” This describes the intended approach to the team mechanics, not a guarantee that every player will find the game easy. It does, however, give a useful buying signal for newcomers: the design is presented as allowing you to concentrate on one character while still participating in team battles.
Training Mode, Battle Guides, and Character Guides are available among the listed offline features, so a player can learn without a subscription or an online opponent. Local Versus also provides a same-system way to play with another person.
Bottom-line buying advice
Buy Standard when you want the base game or a physical PS5 disc. Buy Digital Deluxe when you want the four additional Year 1 characters, one post-launch stage, battle result poses, and the two listed lobby items. Buy Ultimate only when those pass contents plus five costumes and animated colors for all 20 launch characters justify the extra $15 over Deluxe at the published US prices. On PC, choose Steam or the Epic Games Store; on PS5, remember that online play requires PlayStation Plus, while offline modes remain available without it.
