Marvel Rivals skins are cosmetic costumes, not gameplay upgrades. You obtain them through several separate routes: the free track of a Battle Pass, a paid Luxury Battle Pass, the in-game store, and conditional rewards from events, achievements, ranked play, or Twitch Drops. The route determines whether you need money, playtime, a particular rank, or a limited claim window.
Because passes, shops, and event schedules change by season, treat every named costume and deadline as a dated example. On October 13, 2026, the latest season-specific announcement available here is the Season 10 update dated September 9, 2026; some of its offers already ended, while others were scheduled for later batches. Open the current Battle Pass and store in your game before relying on an announced item as an active offer.
What a Marvel Rivals skin is—and what it is not
A skin changes a hero’s visual appearance, such as their costume, colors, effects, or themed accessories. It does not increase health, damage, movement speed, cooldowns, or any other combat statistic. In NetEase’s December 5, 2024 monetization explanation, the Marvel Rivals team wrote: "We will be charging for cosmetics that will provide only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements."

Free Battle Pass skins
What “free” means
The Free Battle Pass does not require a pass purchase, but it does require playing the season and completing the activities that award Chrono Tokens. NetEase’s monetization explanation says the Free Battle Pass includes one epic-quality costume plus other items. The exact costume, number of pages, token costs, and supporting rewards can change in later seasons, so do not treat that description as a permanent catalog.
Chrono Tokens are the pass-reward currency. Tasks and events award them; you then spend them on unlocked pages in the pass. A free costume can therefore have a time commitment even when it has no monetary price. If you stop playing before the season’s reward window closes, you may not earn enough tokens to claim every page.
How to claim a free-pass costume
- Open the current Battle Pass from the main menu.
- Switch to the page or tab marked Free, rather than assuming every displayed page is included.
- Review the costume’s token cost, prerequisite page, and season end date.
- Complete the listed daily, weekly, or event tasks to earn Chrono Tokens.
- Return to the pass, select the costume, and redeem it when you have enough tokens.
- Use the in-game customization screen to equip the costume; owning it does not automatically change your equipped appearance.
Some free cosmetics can also be delivered through a separate event panel instead of the pass. Check both locations before spending currency in the store.

Luxury Battle Pass skins
What the Luxury pass adds
The Luxury Battle Pass is the paid tier. You buy access to additional cosmetic content, then still earn Chrono Tokens through tasks and events to redeem the individual pages. Buying the pass is not the same as instantly receiving every costume; progression and token collection remain part of the system.

Pass contents and purchase options are season-specific. The official Season 10 announcement, dated September 9, 2026, described a Godbomb Battle Pass with 10 all-new sets of heroic costumes. That count applies to the announced Season 10 pass only, not to every season.
Can an old Luxury pass be finished later?
Yes, but only in the limited situation described by the Marvel Rivals Team’s December 24, 2024 clarification: if you already own a Luxury Battle Pass, you can resume it in a later season. You must earn new Chrono Tokens to unlock the earlier pass’s pages. The same clarification says a Luxury pass from a previous season cannot be purchased after that season ends.
This creates two different cases:
- Already owned: the pass may remain resumable, subject to the game’s published rules, and new tokens are needed for its remaining pages.
- Never purchased: you cannot normally buy that finished season’s Luxury pass after its sales period.
Do not confuse an old pass’s resumable pages with an old event or store offer. Each system can have a different expiration rule.

How store purchases work
The in-game store sells costumes directly and also groups cosmetics into bundles. NetEase says most costumes included in a bundle can be bought individually, although the live store determines which items have that option, the price, and any bundle discount. A bundle may contain a costume, emotes, nameplates, sprays, or other themed items, so inspect its contents before confirming a purchase.

The two currency categories

Launch-era prices described in the 2024 monetization article are historical and should not be presented as current prices. Read the number shown beside the purchase button in your region and on the current date. Currency totals, bundle contents, discounts, and rotation schedules can all change.
How to check a store costume safely
- Open the Store tab and select the costume or bundle.
- Expand the contents list so you can see every included cosmetic.
- Look for an individual-purchase button before assuming the bundle is mandatory.
- Record the currency type, total cost, sale price if any, and the displayed end time.
- Confirm the correct hero and costume preview, then purchase only after checking that your account has the required LATTICE or UNITS.
Events, achievements, ranked rewards, and drops
Limited-time events
Events can grant a costume for completing a named set of objectives. The reward may be free in monetary terms but conditional on playing during a short window. Read the event’s task list for match types, wins, damage or support goals, and any login requirement; those conditions are not universal between seasons.
Achievements
Achievements can award UNITS or cosmetics. They are usually tied to milestones rather than a purchase, but the exact achievement and reward must be checked in the current achievement menu. An achievement reward is not interchangeable with a store costume simply because both are free to claim.

Ranked cosmetics require reaching a stated tier in the applicable ranked period. Season 10’s announcement lists Gorr the God Butcher — Gods’ Graveyard as a Gold-tier costume reward. That is evidence of a Season 10 ranked route, not proof that every Gold player receives that costume in another season or that it remains claimable after the ranked window.

Twitch Drops
Twitch Drops use a watch-and-claim process rather than the Battle Pass. Link the required accounts, watch an eligible stream for the campaign’s stated duration, claim the reward in the drop interface, and then check your in-game mailbox or inventory. Campaigns can include accessories as well as costumes, and a reward may require a separate claim before it is delivered.

The September 9, 2026 Season 10 update says the season begins on September 11, 2026 UTC. It lists the Godbomb Battle Pass, the Tetrameron season event, store costumes and bundles, Twitch Drops, and the Gold-ranked Gorr costume. These examples show how several acquisition routes can operate in one season.
The same announcement gives finite windows. The Cloak & Dagger Dreamy Duo Bundle was listed from September 11 at 09:00 UTC to October 9 at 09:00 UTC. The initial Twitch Drops window was September 11 at 12:00 UTC to October 9 at 09:00 UTC. Additional esports drops were scheduled in rolling batches, with the final batch set for October 15. Therefore, on October 13, some Season 10 announcements describe expired offers, some may still be in progress, and a later drop batch had not yet occurred. The game’s live panels are the authority for what you can claim now.

An earlier Season 3 announcement, dated July 3, 2025, described a free Symbiote Storm event costume, Phoenix — Emerald Flames for Gold rank, a Hawkeye Twitch Drop, and an accessory-points shop system. Those examples demonstrate the variety of routes without making any of those named rewards permanently available.

How to decide whether a skin is genuinely free
Use this checklist before calling a costume “free”:
- There is no LATTICE, UNITS, or pass-purchase requirement on the reward page.
- The required tasks, rank, watch time, or achievement are achievable during the stated window.
- You have checked whether the reward is a costume or only an accessory, spray, emote, or nameplate.
- You have enough time to finish the objectives before the displayed expiration.
- You understand whether claiming requires a separate button in an event, drop, or mailbox screen.
A reward can be free of charge yet still require substantial play, a competitive rank, or an external viewing campaign. Conversely, a Luxury-pass costume is paid access even if the final redemption uses only Chrono Tokens.
Troubleshooting common skin problems
The costume is visible but locked
Check whether it belongs to the Luxury page, needs more Chrono Tokens, or is gated behind a prerequisite page. If it is a store item, verify that you are viewing the correct currency and that the offer has not expired.
I earned a drop but cannot find it
Confirm that the stream was eligible, the watch-time bar reached the requirement, and the drop was claimed before the deadline. Then verify that the correct game account was linked and check the in-game mailbox or customization inventory.
I cannot buy an old Battle Pass
This is expected for a pass you never purchased: the December 24, 2024 clarification says previous-season Luxury passes cannot be bought after their season ends. If you bought it earlier, look for its resumable page and earn new Chrono Tokens under the current rules.
The announced costume is not in the store
Announcements often cover a season rather than the exact live day. Compare the announcement’s UTC window with the current date, then use the store’s rotation and expiration labels. A listed item may have ended, not started yet, or been offered in a later batch.

- At the start of a season, screenshot or note the Battle Pass tracks, token costs, and end date.
- Mark each free event, ranked requirement, and drop campaign separately; they rarely share one deadline.
- Spend UNITS only after checking whether a desired costume is available individually or bundled.
- Reserve LATTICE for cosmetics you actually want, since it is the premium currency and store rotations change.
- Before a season closes, claim completed rewards and verify that costumes appear in your customization inventory.
