Short answer: In the latest available pre-patch snapshot, Peni Parker is the strongest statistical Vanguard starting point, Magik is the most practical high-performing Duelist, and Mantis or Ultron lead the Strategist choices. Those figures were captured on October 5, 2026, before the October 9 balance update, so they are not a confirmed post-patch tier list. Build your six around the objective, player proficiency, role coverage and a useful Team-Up loadout rather than copying one “best” lineup.
This guide was checked October 13, 2026. It explains what the available numbers actually show, how the current two-loadout Team-Up system works, and how to assemble a flexible team for solo queue or coordinated play.
What “best” means in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is a fast-paced 6v6 game in which every player contributes to the result. The official game description emphasizes that “Every team match relies on the active participation of every single member.” A hero with an excellent aggregate win rate can still be a poor choice if the player cannot execute its movement, survivability or timing, or if the team lacks another job the objective requires.

Read win rate together with pick rate, rank range, queue type, player experience, map and patch date. The available role figures below are all-rank Season 10 data attributed to CounterWatch and checked October 5. The independent Team-Up figures are a different population: Diamond+ players in Season 10.5, observed October 13. They should not be treated as one consistent experiment.

Why the date matters
The major Version 20261009 balance post was published October 6 and took effect October 9. The ranking article was updated October 7 but explicitly said its underlying data did not include that patch. Consequently, the percentages are a useful baseline for choosing what to practise, not proof of current post-patch power. Recheck the in-game hero details and the latest patch notes before treating any recommendation as definitive.
Best Vanguards: Peni Parker leads the pre-patch snapshot
Peni Parker was the highest Vanguard in the dated Season 10 data, with a reported 57.3% win rate and 8% pick rate. That combination is more informative than a very high win rate on only a handful of matches, although it still does not prove that Peni is optimal on every map or for every player.

- Why she is a good starting point: She was the leading Vanguard in the all-rank snapshot, giving a team a statistically supported frontline option to practise.
- How to decide: Choose her when the player is comfortable creating space and holding an objective rather than simply chasing eliminations. The statistic does not replace knowledge of her current kit or the needs of the map.
Other Vanguard candidates
The same ranking placed Devil Dinosaur, Angela, Thor, Hulk and The Hood in its A tier. They are reasonable alternatives when Peni is unavailable, does not suit the player or does not fit the team’s initiation and survival plan. The source did not establish a single ordering among those alternatives that should be treated as a universal tier list.

Any pre-patch comparison that includes him may therefore overstate his current durability. Hulk also received changes to Banner’s projectile speed, Gamma energy and the Wolverine Team-Up. Review those live values in the hero menu before building a composition around either character.
Vanguard selection checklist
- Can the player reliably contest space and survive the expected focus fire?
- Does the team have a way to start an engagement or protect its backline?
- Will the chosen Vanguard’s current Team-Up loadout provide a useful base effect even if the named partner is not selected?
- Has a recent balance change altered health, resource generation or a partner interaction?
Best Duelists: Magik is the practical high-volume choice
Storm had the highest reported Duelist win rate in the October 5 snapshot at 56.6%, but only a 4% pick rate. Magik recorded 55.4% at an 11% pick rate, giving her substantially more observed usage while remaining near the top. Gorr posted 54.6% at 11%, and Mister Fantastic 53.4% at 4%.

Magik
Magik is the clearest all-purpose recommendation from these numbers: her 55.4% win rate was accompanied by an 11% pick rate, so the result was not confined to the smallest usage group among the listed leaders. That does not mean every player should lock her. Her value depends on the player’s ability to enter, pressure a target and disengage without leaving the team exposed.
Storm
Storm’s 56.6% was the highest Duelist win rate reported, but her 4% pick rate makes it especially important not to call her universally best. A specialist who understands her positioning and timing may obtain excellent results; a new player may not reproduce the aggregate figure.

Gorr and Mister Fantastic
Gorr’s 54.6% win rate and 11% pick rate made him a prominent pre-patch option, but the October 9 update toned him down. Treat the old percentage as historical context until post-patch data stabilizes. Mister Fantastic’s 53.4% at 4% is a viable alternative when his play pattern matches the team, not a reason to force him into every lineup.
The same patch adjusted Cyclops, Hawkeye, Iron Man and Phoenix. Storm and Magik were not listed among the hero adjustments in that balance post. That absence does not guarantee that their relative ranking stayed unchanged; it only means the cited notes did not list a direct adjustment for them.
Best Strategists: Mantis, Ultron and Rocket Raccoon
Ultron led the reported Strategist results at 56.9% win rate and 6% pick rate. Mantis followed closely at 56.5% with an 11% pick rate, while Rocket Raccoon recorded 53.3% with a 14% pick rate.

Mantis
Mantis combines a near-leading 56.5% result with an 11% pick rate. She is a particularly defensible recommendation when the player wants a frequently selected Strategist rather than a niche statistical outlier. Pick her when the team needs dependable support and the player understands her current resource and ultimate timing.

Ultron
Ultron’s 56.9% was the highest in the role snapshot, but his 6% pick rate is lower than Mantis’s and Rocket’s. He is a good practice target for players who can convert his utility into team pressure, yet the number alone is not evidence that he should replace a familiar support in every match.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket’s 14% pick rate was the highest among the three leaders. His 53.3% win rate is lower, but the larger usage figure can make the result more representative of ordinary matches. A competent Rocket player may be more valuable than an unfamiliar hero chosen solely because of a higher percentage.

The Season 10 analysis also noted that every Strategist’s ultimate-energy conversion slowed. That global change affects how often support ultimates become available and should be included when planning rotations, rather than assuming older Season 9 timing.
How to build a six-character composition
Start with the job the objective demands, then fill roles around that job. A role label is a framework, not a complete plan. Your six need a way to initiate, remain alive, apply pressure, follow up on an opening and recover when the first engagement fails.

Ask whether the immediate problem is taking space, defending a choke, escorting a payload, finishing a target or surviving an enemy dive. A lineup designed to hold a narrow area may need different initiation and mobility than one designed to cross open ground. Do not select six high-ranked heroes before deciding what the map and objective require.
Step 2: Cover the essential jobs
- Frontline: At least one Vanguard must be able to contest and create room. A second durable or disruptive pick may be justified when the objective requires sustained pressure.
- Damage and pressure: Duelists should have a realistic way to threaten the enemy’s frontline or punish exposed Strategists. Two damage heroes with identical ranges can leave a team unable to contest a different angle.
- Sustain: Strategists need to keep the frontline active and help the team recover between engagements. Consider whether your support choices can function when separated or under dive pressure.
- Engagement and follow-up: Someone must start the fight and someone else must capitalize on the opening. A lineup with initiation but no follow-up wastes cooldowns; one with damage but no way to create an opening struggles to reach targets.
- Fallback plan: Decide how the team retreats, stabilizes and retakes after losing the first contest. This is especially important in solo queue, where a perfect synchronized engage is unlikely.
Step 3: Choose players before chasing statistics
Win-rate data is influenced by who chooses a hero, how experienced those players are, their rank and whether they play in coordinated groups. The independent ranking analysis recommends using tiers as a practice guide rather than an automatic lock-in. A familiar hero with a clear job is usually more useful than an unfamiliar statistical leader.
Step 4: Check the current Team-Up loadout
Since the July 2026 rework, each hero has two selectable Team-Up loadouts. The selected loadout’s base effect works without its named partner. The enhanced effect activates when that partner is also on the team. Therefore, a loadout is not wasted merely because the partner is absent, but you should only plan around the enhanced effect when the partner is actually available and fits the composition.
- Open the hero menu and inspect both available loadouts for the hero you intend to play.
- Compare the base effects and choose the one that helps the team even in an ordinary fight.
- Check which named partner activates the enhancement.
- Pick that partner only if the partner’s role, map fit and player proficiency support the overall plan.
- Confirm the enhanced effect in the current hero menu after any balance update; do not rely on an older guide’s description.
Step 5: Confirm the plan in the lobby
Before the match starts, make sure the team has agreed on who initiates, which target receives follow-up pressure and how the Strategists will support the first engagement. In solo queue, communicate the simplest version: objective focus, first target and retreat signal. A modest plan that everyone understands is more reliable than a complicated interaction nobody has practised.

What current Team-Up statistics can and cannot tell you
RivalsTracker’s Season 10.5 Diamond+ view, observed October 13, listed two notable pairings:

Both pairings cleared 58% win rate while appearing in roughly 3% or fewer of the tracked matches. That makes them useful evidence that a coordinated synergy can perform well, not proof that either is the best choice for every map, rank or queue. A small pick rate may reflect practiced duos, specialist players or narrow situations. Compare the two values rather than quoting the win rate alone.
These numbers also come from a different population than the all-rank role table. The role leaders were based on data checked October 5; the Team-Up figures were Diamond+ observations on October 13. A Diamond+ pairing’s result cannot be directly compared with an all-rank hero percentage as though both measured the same players.

Balanced frontline pressure
Use one Vanguard such as Peni Parker, one or two Duelists selected for complementary ranges and two Strategists who can sustain the group. This structure is a starting framework, not a fixed six. The key test is whether the damage heroes can follow the Vanguard’s engage and whether the supports can survive when the enemy changes target.

Coordinated Team-Up plan
Choose a loadout with a useful base effect, then add its named partner when the enhanced effect improves the same engagement plan. If you are considering Chain of Cyttorak or Gamma Maelstrom, treat their Diamond+ tracker results as a reason to practise the interaction, not as an instruction to force unfamiliar heroes into your lineup.
Solo-queue fallback
Prioritize heroes each player can operate independently. Select a Vanguard that can contest without perfect protection, a Duelist who can pressure without requiring a scripted combo and Strategists who can recover teammates when the formation breaks. A lower-complexity composition is often easier for five strangers to execute than a high-ceiling plan that depends on synchronized timing.

When the enemy changes its plan
If the opposing team dives the backline, add protection, peel or a more self-sufficient Strategist. If it refuses to leave cover, select pressure that can contest the relevant angle rather than repeatedly sending one hero through the same entrance. If your frontline cannot survive the first contact, replace the most fragile damage pick before blaming the support players.
October 9 balance changes that affect recommendations

The update means older tier lists can be directionally useful but should not be presented as verified post-patch rankings. It also illustrates why Team-Up descriptions, resource values and survivability should be checked in the current client before you teach a lineup to a group.
Common mistakes when choosing “the best” hero
Using win rate without pick rate
A 56% result on a 4% pick rate and a 55% result on an 11% pick rate answer different questions. The first may describe a specialist group; the second has broader usage in the observed sample. Neither proves causation.
Mixing rank populations
Do not combine all-rank CounterWatch figures with Diamond+ Team-Up tracker figures in one unqualified tier list. Rank, coordination and hero access to practiced partners can change outcomes.
Ignoring the patch boundary
The role snapshot predates October 9. Gorr’s pre-patch performance, Devil Dinosaur’s old health and any interaction changed by the balance post should be labelled historical until new data is available.
Picking a partner instead of a plan
A Team-Up enhancement is valuable only when the base effect, partner and overall composition point in the same direction. Do not select an unfamiliar hero merely to activate a high-looking tracker result.
Assuming one six works everywhere
Maps, objectives, ranks, solo queue and coordinated teams create different demands. The available evidence does not establish one universally best six-character lineup.
A repeatable pre-match decision checklist
- Read the objective and identify the job your current lineup lacks.
- Select a Vanguard, Duelist and Strategist the players can use competently.
- Check win rate and pick rate only within the same role and dated dataset.
- Inspect the two current loadouts for every selected hero.
- Use the base Team-Up effect as the minimum value; add the named partner only when the enhanced effect fits.
- Confirm whether a recent balance note changed health, cooldowns, resource generation or a Team-Up interaction.
- Agree on the first engage, follow-up target and retreat plan.
- After the first fight, change the hero or loadout that is failing the team’s actual job rather than defending a tier-list choice.
Final recommendation
For the dated Season 10 baseline, begin Vanguard practice with Peni Parker, Duelist practice with Magik while keeping Storm as a high-win-rate specialist option, and Strategist practice with Mantis or Ultron. Treat those as starting points, not permanent locks. Build the six around objective jobs, player proficiency and a Team-Up loadout whose base effect is useful on its own. Use partner enhancements deliberately, and read every win-rate claim with its pick rate, rank scope and observation date.
