Marvel Cosmic Invasion has 15 heroes in its base-game roster, according to Steam’s listing. The named roster includes Spider-Man, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Captain America, Phoenix, Black Panther, Storm, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, Beta Ray Bill, Venom, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Nova, Phyla-Vell, and Silver Surfer. Cyclops and The Thing are separate DLC characters. Some mission-specific unlock instructions circulating online come from a fan guide and conflict with the official roster count, so they should be treated as reported routes rather than confirmed rules.
Who is in the Marvel Cosmic Invasion base-game roster?
Steam explicitly lists these 15 playable heroes in the base game; Dotemu also describes the game as featuring 15 Marvel heroes.
- Spider-Man
- Wolverine
- She-Hulk
- Captain America
- Phoenix (Jean Grey)
- Black Panther
- Storm
- Iron Man
- Rocket Raccoon
- Beta Ray Bill
- Venom (Eddie Brock)
- Cosmic Ghost Rider
- Nova
- Phyla-Vell
- Silver Surfer
See the Steam roster and game description and Dotemu’s official game page.
How to unlock the characters named in the fan guide
Marvel Cosmic Lab’s fan-made guide gives campaign mission routes for Phoenix, Venom, and Silver Surfer. These instructions are not an official walkthrough, and its claim that four characters begin locked does not align cleanly with Steam’s explicit 15-character base roster. Treat the steps below as reported guidance, not official confirmation of unlock requirements.

Silver Surfer
The guide says Fort Galactus includes three encounters and that you must complete the full mission after the final encounter for the unlock.
The guide reports no specific difficulty, equipment, or build requirement, and does not establish whether co-op play affects character unlocks. Those points are not confirmed game rules. The guide also describes Vabel as unlockable after defeating her and completing Paula, while saying tutorial access is temporary. However, Vabel is absent from Steam’s listed 15, and the sources cited here do not independently confirm her as a playable base-game character. See the Marvel Cosmic Lab unlock guide alongside Steam’s roster listing.

Which heroes should you pair?
Each level lets you choose two heroes and switch between them instantly with Cosmic Swap. Tribute Games says heroes differ in attributes such as flight, ranged attacks, strength, agility, blocking, and parrying; a button combination can also call the partner for an assist. Pair characters with complementary approaches—for example, one suited to ranged attacks with a hero better suited to close-range pressure—then swap as the encounter demands. The game does not require one universal pair. Details are in the Steam game description and the developer’s PlayStation Blog character announcement.

Cyclops and The Thing
Cyclops and The Thing are DLC additions, not part of the 15 heroes named in Steam’s base-game roster. Dotemu says the first DLC is available on all platforms for $3.99; prices and availability may change, so check the relevant storefront before buying. See Dotemu’s game page.

The Siege of Castle Doom
On August 17, 2026, Dotemu announced premium DLC titled The Siege of Castle Doom, describing a new game mode and two new playable characters planned for Fall 2026. The announcement did not name those characters, so they should not be counted among the confirmed roster here. Check Dotemu’s announcement for the stated release details.
