Marvel Cosmic Invasion has 15 playable heroes in its base roster. For each level, you choose two and use Cosmic Swap to switch between them instantly, building combos and special attacks around the pair. Cyclops and The Thing are listed separately as downloadable content, not among those 15 base-game characters.
How Cosmic Swap works
Cosmic Swap is the game’s two-hero tag-team system. Before a level, choose two heroes; during the fight, switch between them instantly. The official descriptions say the system lets players create unique combos and powerful special attacks, with each hero’s abilities encouraging creative team-ups and a more tactical approach.
That gives you a pair to work with rather than a single fixed character throughout a level. The official materials do not specify swap button inputs, cooldowns, or exactly how one character’s moves interact with the other’s, so those details should not be assumed. They also do not publish a tested ranking of the strongest pairs. Treat pairing as a way to experiment with the heroes’ abilities, not as a settled tier list.

Base-game character roster
Nintendo and PlayStation list the same 15 playable heroes in the base game. Nintendo groups eight as Earth-born and seven as Galactic.

The grouping reflects the roster’s mix of Earth-based and cosmic heroes; the game brings them together to face Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave.
Characters listed as downloadable content
Cyclops and The Thing
Dotemu identifies Cyclops and The Thing as DLC 1. Nintendo and PlayStation list them as an add-on, separately from the 15 named base-game heroes.

The Siege of Castle Doom
Dotemu’s press-kit page lists “The Siege of Castle Doom” as DLC 2 and names Doctor Doom and The Invisible Woman as new playable characters. The listing gives November 10 but does not specify a year in the displayed copy. That date alone does not establish whether the DLC is available now; check the relevant platform’s current store listing for its release status.

The story centers on Annihilus launching an unprecedented attack across the galaxy. Earth-born and cosmic heroes unite against the Annihilation Wave, with the described journey spanning New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone. The character descriptions establish the conflict and setting, rather than a detailed account of how each hero plays.

For example, Dotemu’s September 17, 2025 character reveal describes Black Panther as Wakanda’s leader, equipped with a vibranium-enhanced suit and sonic daggers. It describes Cosmic Ghost Rider as the Punisher transformed after making a pact to avenge Earth’s destruction at Thanos’s hands. These are story and character details, not a guide to their moves or effectiveness in a Cosmic Swap pair.

Nintendo’s US listing states that one to four players can play on a single system or online. Dotemu describes local and online multiplayer with drop-in/drop-out support. PlayStation’s US page also says one to four players and specifies that online play for up to four requires PS Plus. Subscription requirements should be checked for the platform and region you use; they are not necessarily the same across platforms.
