There isn’t one published Malwarebytes free-trial length for every device. Malwarebytes’ current download page advertises seven days of Premium features for Android and iOS. Its current materials do not establish a universal Windows trial duration, and a 14-day Mac Plus trial mentioned in a 2024 release note was limited to eligible users at that time—not a current promise for everyone. Check the offer and billing terms shown in your app, account, or checkout before starting.
How long is the Malwarebytes free trial?
It depends on the platform and the offer presented to you. Malwarebytes’ download page currently advertises seven days of Premium features on its Android and iPhone app listings. That does not establish that every device receives the same features or qualifies for the same offer.
For Windows, the current official materials reviewed do not state a universal trial duration. A Malwarebytes 2024 Mac release note described a 14-day Plus trial for eligible non-licensed users. Because that is historical and eligibility-limited, it should not be treated as the current Mac offer for all users. The offer shown during your own enrollment is the one to rely on.

What does the trial let you use?
A trial provides access to paid features for the term and platform specified in the offer. The free version is different: Malwarebytes describes it as a cleanup tool for attacks that have already damaged a device, while its Premium Security product is designed to provide ongoing protection. Feature availability also differs across Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and iPadOS.

Malwarebytes’ feature matrix shows, for example, that Windows and Mac Quick Scan and Custom Scan are free, while real-time protection and Web Protection require a paid subscription. Android includes a free scanner, with several proactive protections paid. iOS and iPadOS categorize web, call, ad-blocking, and SMS features differently. Check the matrix for the operating system you use rather than assuming “free antivirus” means the same protections everywhere.
What happens when the Malwarebytes trial expires?
Expiry does not necessarily mean you must buy a subscription to keep using Malwarebytes. Windows release notes document a guided transition from the trial experience to the Free version. The available features narrow when paid access ends, and the exact free feature set depends on the operating system.

If you want continued paid protection, Malwarebytes currently presents three consumer tiers: Standard for device security, Plus for device security with Privacy VPN, and Total for device security, VPN, and identity protection. Features vary by operating system. The plan page also lists family options and a 60-day money-back guarantee; check its current terms and exclusions before relying on that guarantee. Choose based on the protections you need, supported devices, and renewal terms—not trial length alone.
Will Malwarebytes charge you after the free trial?
That depends on how you started the trial and whether you supplied payment information. Malwarebytes says online-store subscriptions have auto-renewal enabled by default. If auto-renewal is on, the payment method on file can be charged when the trial ends. Some trials require payment details; Malwarebytes says you can turn off auto-renewal before expiry. Other trials that do not require payment information will not charge at the end of the trial.

Mobile subscriptions and trials are managed through Google Play or Apple’s App Store. Before enrolling, check the signup screen and confirmation for the renewal date, payment method, price, and cancellation route. You can also verify the subscription in your Malwarebytes account or the relevant app-store subscription settings.
How to cancel before the trial ends
- For a Windows or Mac subscription purchased from Malwarebytes: Sign in to your Malwarebytes account and turn off auto-renewal in the subscription settings. Malwarebytes says the subscription remains active through its expiration date after auto-renewal is disabled.
- For an Android subscription or trial: Open your Google Play subscriptions and manage or cancel the Malwarebytes subscription there.
- For an iPhone or iPad subscription or trial: Open your Apple account’s Subscriptions settings and manage or cancel it there.
- Confirm the result: Check the account or app-store subscription page for the renewal status and end date, and keep the confirmation. Use the channel through which you subscribed; changing settings in a different account may not stop the renewal.
Malwarebytes’ support and auto-renewal guidance provides the current account and billing instructions. The steps and labels can depend on where the subscription was purchased.

How to decide whether to keep a paid plan
- Consider Standard if you want device security and do not need the additional services in higher tiers.
- Consider Plus if you also want the included Privacy VPN on a supported operating system.
- Consider Total if the included identity-protection service is relevant to you, in addition to device security and VPN.
- Check the details for your devices: Compare operating-system support, included features, device count, and renewal terms on the current plan page. The available feature set is not identical across platforms.
