Yes—you can turn handwriting into a TTF font without installing a desktop editor. One browser workflow lets you draw characters directly; another uses a printable character template that you fill in, scan, and touch up. Choose based on how you want to enter the letters, then test the exported font in the app where you plan to use it.

Draw characters directly in the browser
Browser Kitty’s Handwriting Font Maker describes drawing characters with a mouse, touchscreen, or pen, then loading the generated TTF back into the browser for a preview. A stylus is optional: mouse input is also listed. If you use a touchscreen, a finger or pen may be convenient, but the tool’s page does not establish that a particular device or browser is supported.
This route keeps the process straightforward, but the documented feature limits matter if you need detailed spacing or alternate forms. Browser Kitty lists per-glyph width tuning, kerning, ligatures, and randomized alternate glyphs as unsupported. Check the tool’s current capabilities if one of those controls is essential.
Fill and scan a customizable template
Calligraphr’s workflow starts with a template containing a selected character set. The service describes adjustable cell sizes, scanning the filled template, and modifying characters afterward, including touch-ups and height or spacing adjustments. That makes it a different input method from drawing each glyph directly on a browser canvas.

Calligraphr states that its created fonts are standard font files in TTF or OTF format. It also documents character randomization and Pro ligatures. Those details do not establish which features are included in every plan, or current pricing or limits; check the service’s current feature information before relying on a specific option.
Refine the font with a desktop editor
If browser-based touch-up is not enough, FontForge is a separate desktop option for editing glyph outlines and generating TrueType output. Its documentation explains that TTF fonts use quadratic splines; editing those curves can be more difficult than working with other outline types. This adds a desktop editing step rather than keeping the whole workflow in a browser.

Check the font before using it
A successful export does not guarantee that every glyph will look or space the way you expect in every application. Open the TTF in the program where you intend to use it and inspect the characters you entered, including punctuation and any less common letters in your selected character set.

- Check that each exported character has the intended shape and is not clipped or misaligned.
- Type a sample sentence to assess whether letter spacing looks consistent.
- If you used a tool with limited spacing controls, look for awkward gaps or collisions that need adjustment.
- Confirm any special behavior, such as ligatures or alternate characters, in the target application rather than assuming it will match the font maker’s preview.
