Wizards of the Coast says selected Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek products may arrive late because of production and shipping problems. The October 16, 2026 notice does not postpone the entire set: Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs remain on track for events, while delays vary by product, language and region. The prerelease milestone is November 6, 2026, followed by the tabletop release milestone on November 13.
What is delayed—and what is still on track?
The situation is product-specific rather than a blanket postponement. Wizards says Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are expected to support prerelease and release events as planned. Other items may reach stores after November 6, after November 13, or later than the currently planned arrival window.
The company describes the timelines as fluid. A product listed as delayed today could move sooner if logistics improve, so an event date should not be treated as a guarantee that every retailer will have every product in stock.

Regional product delays
The October 16 announcement identifies the following affected products and regions. “After prerelease” means arrival may occur after November 6; “after tabletop release” means it may occur after November 13.

The notice does not say that every listed item will be unavailable everywhere in a region. Language edition, distributor inventory and the individual retailer can change the actual pickup or delivery date.
Will a Commander deck arrive before prerelease?
In North America, Wizards specifically warns that Commander decks may arrive after the tabletop release on November 13. That means a preorder is not assured for the November 6 prerelease, and it may not be ready on the regular tabletop release date either. In EMEA, English, French and German Commander decks have separate later-arrival warnings, with some potentially arriving after prerelease and others after tabletop release.

If you need a deck for an event, ask the store handling your preorder whether it has received the exact language and edition you ordered. Do not assume that another language, a Collector’s Edition version or a different Commander deck has the same delivery schedule.

This is the announced date associated with prerelease events. Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are on track according to the October 16 notice, but several other products may arrive after this date.

November 13, 2026: tabletop release milestone
This is the announced tabletop release milestone for the set. Delayed Collector Boosters, Bundles, Scene Boxes and other products may reach stores after it. The date describes the product-release schedule, not a guaranteed delivery appointment for an individual order.
Is the Star Trek Beginner Box canceled?
Yes. Wizards canceled the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Beginner Box in every region on September 21, 2026. The company cited delays in production, logistics and shipping and said it would no longer produce the product. Customers who preordered it should contact the local game store or retailer that accepted the order to ask about cancellation, refunds or any replacement arrangement.

This cancellation was announced separately from the October 16 delay notice. The September statement said no other Star Trek products were affected by that cancellation announcement at the time; the later notice then identified the regional delays listed above.

How to check availability for your order
- Identify the exact item. Record the product type, language edition and, where relevant, whether it is a Collector’s Edition or an Omega Collector Booster sold as a single booster.
- Contact the retailer or local game store. Ask whether the item is physically allocated, in transit or awaiting a revised distributor window.
- Confirm the date in writing. Request the store’s current estimated pickup or shipping date rather than relying only on the November 6 or November 13 event milestones.
- Review preorder terms. If the store cannot supply the product on the revised schedule, ask about cancellation, a refund and whether the order can be moved to another language or product.
- Recheck close to release. Wizards says the delays are fluid, so availability can change as logistics teams adjust shipments.
What buyers should expect
- Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are the products explicitly described as on track.
- A product can be available in one country or language while delayed in another.
- Event participation and retail delivery are separate: an on-time prerelease does not prove that every accessory, booster type or Commander deck has arrived.
- Retailer stock is the decisive local signal because Wizards directs customers to stores and retailers for current availability.
Bottom line for Star Trek MTG preorders
The set is not being universally postponed. Plan around the November 6 prerelease and November 13 tabletop release, but verify the exact product and language with your retailer. North American Commander decks and multiple EMEA and Asia-Pacific products may arrive later, while the Beginner Box is canceled worldwide and will not be produced.
