Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes is the next set in Wizards of the Coast’s Marvel collaboration, but official announcements reviewed for this article do not confirm that it tells an original story. The set draws on characters across Marvel, including superhero teams and villains. Its tabletop release date was June 26, 2026, and it includes products for learning, playing, drafting and collecting.
What is Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes?
Marvel Super Heroes is a Magic: The Gathering set built around characters from across the Marvel Universe. Wizards of the Coast announced it as the next set in its Marvel collaboration, describing a lineup that ranges from well-known superhero teams to villains. The announcement does not establish that the set has a new, original narrative.
The collaboration spans multiple products. In a September 2025 article, Magic designer Mark Rosewater said randomized booster sets would focus on Marvel’s comics, alongside other products such as Secret Lair drops. That describes the partnership’s approach; it is not confirmation of a new plot for Marvel Super Heroes. Wizards’ 2026 announcement and Rosewater’s account of the collaboration provide the stated scope.

That claim is unverified in the official materials cited here. Wizards’ announcement describes the set’s Marvel character range, while its product information covers cards, products and collecting details. Neither confirms an original story. The set may have narrative flavor in its cards or presentation, but that is different from an officially announced standalone plot.

The official product guide is the source for the product list, contents and MSRP figures. For a first-time player, the Beginner Box is the most explicitly instructional option: it includes tutorial decks and learning materials. A Scene Box is oriented toward displaying a connected group of cards and art. Booster contents are randomized, so buying one does not guarantee a particular character or treatment.
How does format legality work?
Legality depends on the product grouping and card. Wizards’ guide says the main set is legal in all formats. It separately identifies commander and source-material sets as Eternal-legal: those cards are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage, and individual cards may also be legal in other formats where they were already available. Do not assume that every card in every associated product has identical legality; check the individual card and format rules. Wizards explains the broader policy in its format-legality announcement.

Yes. Wizards announced on May 19, 2026, that Marvel Super Heroes and past and future Marvel sets would come to MTG Arena. This updates an April 2025 statement that Spider-Man and future Marvel sets would not come to Arena or Magic Online. The newer announcement names Arena; it does not establish Magic Online availability. See Wizards’ April 2025 digital update and May 2026 Arena announcement.
