MacawHost offers shared, managed WordPress, VPS and dedicated hosting, but the performance evidence available here covers only one high-end VPS and one dedicated server. In HostAdvice reviewer Walter Akolo’s tests, the VPS led on single-thread CPU and disk results; the dedicated system delivered much higher network throughput and physical isolation. That is a mixed result, not proof that one hosting type—or every MacawHost plan—is universally faster.

What MacawHost sells

MacawHost’s homepage advertises shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS and bare-metal hosting. These are company-published offerings and prices, not independently verified service outcomes. Its homepage also advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA, 24/7 support and a 14-day money-back guarantee; check the current product terms and checkout details before ordering. MacawHost homepage

Website count, NVMe storage, CPU, RAM and PHP worker limits vary by plan. The provider describes the service as managed WordPress hosting and lists free SSL, one-click installs and cPanel. MacawHost managed WordPress hosting

VPS and bare metal

The homepage advertises VPS from $3.49/month and bare metal from $49/month. Those are entry prices, not a complete comparison of configurations or proof of month-to-month pricing. HostAdvice’s review captured VPS examples at $3.49/month for L-Spark, $8.39 for L-Pulse, $13.99 for L-Surge and $24.49 for L-Ultra; it says yearly billing saved 30% over monthly pricing. These are the review’s published figures, so check the live order page for current prices, billing commitments and included resources. HostAdvice MacawHost review

What the performance tests found

HostAdvice Hosting Expert Walter Akolo says he provisioned one MacawHost VPS and one dedicated server, then ran CPU, memory, disk and network benchmarks. The review was updated August 23, 2026. The VPS was the L-Ultra configuration with 8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM and 150 GB NVMe storage. The dedicated machine used dual Intel Xeon Gold 6138 processors and 256 GB RAM; the review associates it with the P-Gold 6138 plan and reports a price of $329/month. These are two tested configurations, not a broad sample or independent ongoing monitoring.

Metric Tested L-Ultra VPS Tested P-Gold 6138 dedicated server
Single-thread CPU 2,299.50 events/sec; 0.43 ms average latency 458.56 events/sec; 2.18 ms
Multi-thread CPU 17,444.41 events/sec across 8 threads; 0.46 ms 23,067.37 events/sec across 80 threads; 3.47 ms
Disk results reported VPS led the reviewer’s disk comparison; the cited summary does not give specific VPS disk figures 402 MB/s sequential write, 539 MB/s sequential read, and 24,600 IOPS for each reported random 4K mixed read/write result
Network results 1 Gbps cap; upload readings around 950 Mbps From Sofia, about 9.2–9.3 Gbps download and 9.3 Gbps upload; zero packet loss in both runs

The reviewer’s network tests were not conducted from the same location, so the throughput figures are not a strict apples-to-apples comparison. The reviewer also reports that a three-minute CPU, memory and disk stress test on the VPS recorded zero failures and zero untrustworthy metrics. That short test is a result for the tested configuration and period, not a service-wide guarantee.

How to interpret the difference

The tested VPS produced higher single-thread CPU throughput and stronger disk results than the tested dedicated server, while the dedicated configuration had higher aggregate CPU throughput across many more threads and much greater measured network throughput. The configurations and test conditions differ, so these findings do not establish that VPS beats dedicated generally—or predict how a specific website or application will perform. Akolo’s line, “The cheaper VPS plan beat the flagship dedicated server on two key metrics,” is his characterization of those particular tests.

  • CPU response: The VPS’s better single-thread result may matter for work that depends heavily on a small number of fast operations.
  • Parallel capacity: The dedicated machine’s result across 80 threads may interest workloads able to use many threads; it is not directly comparable to the VPS’s eight-thread figure as a like-for-like configuration test.
  • Storage: The reviewer says the VPS had stronger disk results, but the cited summary supplies specific disk figures only for the dedicated server. Do not infer unreported VPS numbers.
  • Network and location: The dedicated server’s reported throughput was much higher, but its test location differs from the VPS tests. Choose a server location near your users and consider outbound capacity for your workload.
  • Isolation and licensing: Dedicated hardware provides physical isolation, which can matter for compliance or licensing requirements beyond benchmark speed.

How much MacawHost costs—and what to verify

The advertised entry prices answer “how much?” only in part: the amount due depends on the selected product, term, configuration and any add-ons. Shared and WordPress plans publish yearly totals; the VPS review’s figures include a stated 30% saving for yearly billing versus monthly pricing. Before paying, compare the checkout total with the headline monthly equivalent and review renewal pricing, add-ons and the product-specific refund terms.

  • Confirm the selected billing period and the full amount charged today.
  • Check renewal pricing and whether features such as backups, extra storage or other services cost more.
  • Verify the available data-center locations for the exact plan.
  • Check security defaults. In the reviewed VPS setup, Akolo reports that a firewall was not enabled by default; this is a configuration-specific observation, so confirm the current setup and enable appropriate protection.

Is MacawHost’s 99.99% uptime claim independently verified?

MacawHost advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA on its homepage. The sources available for this review do not provide independent long-term uptime monitoring, so that figure should be treated as the provider’s claim rather than a measured uptime record. Read the current SLA for its scope, exclusions, measurement method and remedy if the target is missed. MacawHost homepage

Refund terms, support and VPS locations

The provider homepage states a 14-day money-back guarantee. HostAdvice’s review, updated August 23, 2026, reports 14-day refund terms for VPS and 7 days for dedicated servers. These statements differ by product, so read the terms for the exact service before purchase rather than assuming the broad homepage claim applies identically to every plan. Akolo also reports that a support ticket in his test received a response in 14 minutes; that single experience does not establish a typical response time.

The review identifies New York Metro City and Sofia as VPS locations and flags the VPS location choice as limited. Availability can change, so check the location selector for the plan you intend to order and consider where your audience is based. A location mismatch can matter even when the server’s benchmark figures look strong.

Who should consider MacawHost?

  • Shared hosting: A possible fit for a smaller site if the plan’s website, resource and backup limits meet your needs.
  • Managed WordPress: Consider it if you want a WordPress-focused plan and have confirmed its storage, site-count and PHP worker limits.
  • VPS: Worth evaluating when you need a virtual server and the tested L-Ultra results are relevant to your workload—but do not assume lower tiers will match them.
  • Dedicated: Consider it when physical isolation, licensing or high outbound throughput matters more than the tested server’s weaker single-thread and disk results relative to that VPS.

MacawHost’s evidence supports a workload-based choice, not a universal performance winner. Match the specific plan to CPU response, thread capacity, storage, network needs, location and isolation requirements, then judge the total term cost and refund policy before committing.
